A photo of the day thread

Walking in the footsteps of Royalty. My Nephew Major D Wilson, translator and stationed overseas in Jordan. Married to his Thailand Army Officer wife and having dinner with the King.

Not bad for a council house kid from the rough parts of Luton. Note one very proud PP Bear.

The ability to look younger on request, please.

I know, it would be easier for him to make Cardiff City win the European Cup.

But I can always hope.😎

That looks a bit like the roads near Alston. Friend of mine runs a bunkhouse and campsite there. Lovely part of the world.
Photos taken North of Alston from the top of Plenmeller Moor above and just South of Haltwhistle a truly beautiful landscape dropped pin marks the exact spot 👍

A bit further North than the bit I know. I go as far as Slaggyford to the West or Allendale to the East in terms of places "I know" as the campsite is closer to Nenthead than it is Alston and I'm normally there for some of the motorbike events that are hosted there. If I'm going anywhere it's normally in the rescue van to pick someone up!

The landscape is exactly the same though. Really love it up there - apart from the midges...

Carried out a few equipment repairs at the Plenmeller opencast back in the 90's (first repair was to my underslung spare wheel carrier, as the speed bumps were enormous to suit the massive Tonka trucks they used !)
It seemed like it was always cold, wet and windy, except when it was snowing.
Think the guys worked 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week as it was only licensed to be open for a relatively short time and they had to make their money while they could ?

This is a friend at my gym today. She did the whole 1 hour Bodycombat class wearing this inflatable gingerbread suit. (The class is non-contact punching and kicking at high intensity)
