We had gas lighting and no electricity when we lived in Throstle Walk in Chadderton. It was luxury to move to a council house, also in Chadderton, with an inside loo, electricity and a fireplace in the living room... Those were the days of miracle and wonder...I use to think our house in Saddleworth was cold .Four floor stone built alongside a river. My bedroom was above the kitchen on the third floor but my sisters bedroom was in the attic on the forth floor.
We only got central heating when North Sea Gas came to the area. It was a package of a boiler, water heater and set amount of radiators. For some reason they couldn’t put a radiator in the attic but I had one in my bedroom.
and this morning - a glimpse of weak winter sunField opposite my house at 9 this morning
