Just checked with Comfort, the Insurance Green Card (they add £17.50 to your policy) is for a total of 120 days within the policy starting from the first day of use.

Our policy increased from last year by £7.15p. We do not use their breakdown cover as we have ADAC Plus which includes Morocco.

Yes you are correct Andrew, I rang myself just now, then rang our current insurer and mentioned the difference, they questioned "but was for fully comp insurance ?"

Honestly it was never mentioned so if you take it out just check it is

But the cancellation penalties is too high as we still have 6 months to go , so looks like we have to bite and pay

I would not get gaslow. We got it and the bottle was leaking around the thread on the bottle. These bottles should have been tested before they left the factory. I have heard other people say that their bottles leaked as well.

On our trip last year to Morocco we had one of the Gaslow bottles leak around the thread which was replaced under warranty at South Down the morning of our crossing to Santander.
Then b*gger me if the other bottle didn't start leaking at the same place 3 weeks later when in Morcco. Replaced again under wan
Rarity when we returned a few months later.
Today we had a Gaslow stainless steel hose replaced under warranty as it was leaking around the weld where the fitting joins the hose.
Whilst Gaslows warranty is great I am less than impressed with their quality control!

The Green Card cover is for the policy you have taken out with Comfort - in our case 'Fully Comp'. :thumb:

We are thinking 4 to 6 weeks max
Crossing into morroco around 6 to 14 th january
Only thing planned is out of uk straight from haggers new years bash
Back over to uk end march got to be home no later 29 march[/QUOT

Each to their own.

We stayed 8 weeks last year.
We did not see as much as some who stayed for less time but we were happy with the pace we moved at.

This time we will stay maybe one week more but probably stay at the beach at Taghazoute for longer and miss out other places to leave time to go to the dessert. We won't be going far south so I reckon 9weeks will be OK for us to have a relaxing time and see some places we haven't seen yet. CAN'T WAIT. Not long to take off
:thumb::thumb:

The problem with Gaslow seems to be associated with the red washers deteriorating. One of ours crumbled after 3 years and allowed a minor slow leak.. However, is this not a side issue for Morocco? We were there for 8 weeks last year and as far as I am aware there is no LPG available to refill Gaslow systems. Plenty of local bottles to be had though. I did hear that it might be possible to refill Gaslow systems in a couple of places (Casablanca and Agadir) but not officially and certainly no filling stations as in Europe.

We are hoping to be in Morroco for anything between 8 and 12 weeks hope to be totally flexible on this one.

Gas low

Great stuff. So is Autogas 2000 advertised on these pages down the right handside andwhen I got mine it was a damned lot cheaper. The bottle is lightweight ally and I have no leaks.

Having said that I did not get any benefit in Morocco. I just did not need it. If I had run out I would have bought a local bottle and left it when I left. They are so cheap there you do not need an altrnative.

nothing wrong with normal bottles they fill easy enough .
i have two maroc bottles here . in the south they use a different bottle .
best not leave them you will need another next time .
plus in spain its dearer to fill with autogas than exchange spanish bottles .

Hi there,
wondre if you can help with my dilema,I have just purchased ADAC-plus cover
but my problem is,as you know, all the information relating to the benefits etc of ADAC-plus and the little booklet that tells you what entitlements, benefits you have are in GERMAN,so I haven't got a clue what i've actually got apart from breakdown cover,i would be ever so grateful if you (Mr Motorhome) or any other knowledgeable soul out there could advise me what this ADAC-plus
actually covers as i don't really want to take breakdown cover out alongside my
insurance if I've already got breakdown cover with ADAC-plus ALSO will ADAC

These two links on the forun may help you :Link Removed

Also this this link / post on this forum discussing ADAC Link Removed

Our current insurance is with Comfort, if you turn down the breakdown cover when discussing their quote they then reduce the overall price. Yes ADAC also covers Morocco – keep receipts and they will cover costs as per their contact. We have used ADAC on two occasions and so far would recommend them.

I have read they will also cover the cost of flying parts to you if required – although this is not confirmed.

Morocco

Thanks for info, we have not done Morocco but would like to tag along with someone or a group. Will you give us some advice as to what we need to do ( green card etc ) and where will you all meet up near to ferry port

Morocco2014

ok, seem's the Morocco 2013 thread just wont die and the forum is getting split a little as there are now also 2 morocco 2014 threads running..

I will start the ball rolling again for 2014 and state our plans.
We hope to be leaving UK first week of January and head down to Algeciras, possible short stop over in Benidorm if we get time and at least an overnight at Bella Vista so we can meet again with Rudi the site manager to finalise the meet there in March.
Ferry over to Morocco on or close to 15th January and we will be spending 4-6 weeks there.

Others from the 2013 group I know are planning to go and they will no doubt post here soon.
Some are planning to spend Christmas and New year in Benidorm, so if others want a meet up then camping Villasol in Benidorm looks to be a good spot this winter.

Andrew and myself have also approached Marjal, where we had the 2012 meet, to try and obtain a deal for funster who may be traveling down on route to Morocco, the Bella vista meet or Spain in general.. This is not confirmed as yet but I will post once I have full details.

If we now make this the prime posting thread we can maybe start to form some some of list of who and when people plan to travel. Newbie can then maybe get hooked up with some of the more seasoned travelers....

MOROCCO 2014 HERE WE COME.. :thumb::thumb:
hi tonka
Will there be any rally's before you leave for morocco marjohn

hi tonka
Will there be any rally's before you leave for morocco marjohn

Not as such.. Many are going for Christmas/New year in places like Benidorm.
Us, along with a few others from the 2013 trip will be at Bellavista ( see rally thread) for a few days just before the 15th Jan.. People will contribute their own plans as it gets nearer the time...

We wont leave UK until after new year..

Just keeping up to date with the thread one thing that stands out for me is the help and detail on here but it is up to our selves to make sure we are prepared,

Read and retread both threads a long read but so much to be gleaned and notes taken.

Buy maps and Morrocan guide books for sites and aires from Vacarious Books.

Get Moroccan Sat Nav Up to date.

Make sure you have Green Card and Moroccan insurance.

Travel Insurance.

With the help of Tonka Mr motorhome Snowbird and so many others, then all that remains is to have fun.

Buzzin

Today in Portsmouth we had our final HEP B jabs before we sail tomorrow. I bought travel sickness tablets and hope to sleep for most of the night crossing to Le Havre. Hopefully we will get into Spain soon and then take final decision as to go south through Portugal or stick to the med. Malaga before Christmas. Ready to jump across the last stretch of water come Jan.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Still Buzzin

Ferry leaves at 2300 so why did we arrive at 1600? Unlike at Dover we were not turned away. We weren't first in the queue either. Nobody in the van at the front (I reckon they are at the pub). We on the other hand are on a diet. The Hairy Bikers/Dieters so at least it tastes good but it isn't the same as a last night in a Brit pub. The problem I have of course is will-power or rather lack of it and if I went to the pub It may just be a couple of wets but it would also be a steak pudding or lamb shank or curry and then there is bound to be a steamed pud or something chocolate.

Bugger why the hell am I still sitting in the van? :Rofl1::Rofl1:

Always obey the last command

Get off to the pub man and stop fooling around [/QUOT

I can now report that the Ship and Castle is just as warm and welcoming as it was last year and the Seafarers by George Gale tastes good too. :thumb::thumb:

Morocco 2014 Newbie

We intend to follow a similar route and timetable as you suggest, we are making our way down from Dover after Xmas and will wind our way down to southern Spain to be there for the 13th ish.
If we could meet up with other funsters before and after the ferry crossing it would be great and help to remove some of the pitfalls of the trip.
We intend to be in Morocco for 6 to 8 weeks, we do not have any fixed plan or route so any advice regarding sites, parking, wild camping (all things morocco) would be very welcome and appreciated.
Cheers
Ed & Shirley

I assume you have the Michelin map and sites guide from Vicarious Books. The sites seem to be surveyed in 2009 but even so a worthwhile guide. There is an update file on their site.

Just a though for anyone who is going to Morocco but does not have any MOTORHOME FUN identification so fellow funsters can spot you, go to the home page scroll down to resources click on badges and logos and you can print out your own FUN sign to put in your van.

Hi Mike

Thanks again for the link, have just downloaded the Morocco map, it appears to be on my faithful Garmin Nuvi1490T and for just $19.99....... bargain. Remains to be seen of course if it works, sure it will be OK. Very easily done, idiot proof download :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

regards, Bryan
