Structural Damage

Winds of 108mph, structural damage, flying debris, massive depression, icy blasts, communication difficulties, untold misery and suffering...

Yes, I forgot it was Valentines Day today but Gwen didn't. :Eeek:

On no!:Eeek:

She had brought a card from home and gave it to me this morning in the presence of many witnesses at Tafraoute. I, of course had completely failed to plan for this momentous occasion so I am truly in the dog house.

Had a meal at Hamada du Draa and then a Moroccan trio started their first spot. Some French people moaned that they didn't want music whilst they were eating. The waiter said they'd been miserable barstewards since they'd arrived.

The trio had a break so the the French could talk very loudly during their meal.

Solution - the Brits then gave a rendition of on Ilkla Moor b'hat hat and the French finished promptly, ate up and left.:Angry:

Meanwhile the trio returned after their fag break and Suggy guested and we all sang along.

We dished out numerous glasses of free bacardi to artists and hangers on, and Peter doled out his loopy dark rum, but it was well worthwhile.

We are at the end of the road as far as camping cars go and we have to turn round and cover old ground to go elsewhere, but what a night we've had in the Sahara. C'est magnifique.

PS The trio are playing in a musical festival in 2 weeks time in Mali - well worth seeing if you're down that way:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Hi Malcolm , which road were you on? Was it the R104 , or if it was on white roads on the michelin map , which villages were you passing through on the route so that others can follow , :thumb:

I just headed out of Tafraout following signs for Agadir. Looking at the map it would have been the R105. (The R104 goes to Tisnit and part of it was closed recently.) The R105 goes through Ait-Baja and Biougra, both big towns as well as several villages.

Camping Amasttou Tazzarine N30deg 46.492 W005deg 33.720

Having left the best site in M'Hamid and one of the best we have found in Morocco (Hamada du Draa -see Suggy Squad Posts) we've headed north looking for high vistas and the colour green.

Stopped at Tazzarine trying to find a site, asked a man in a cafe who replied in excellent English "that is my campsite". Chances of that eh.

Anyway it's a nice stop, bijou but big enough for the Suggy Squad and a few more, food good last night and Mohammed the Amasttou ("not Berber, that is what the Arabs call us....") is very friendly and very helpful. :thumb: Took us on a guided tour of the Kasbah yesterday and asked for nothing... Well so far anyway!

Important: Finding it! If you drive in from the west on the R108 you will come a roundabout at the edge of town. SatNag however will tell you to go straight on at a crossroads  Turn right and then immediately left (they've moved the road and put the roundabout in since Garmin last updated their maps.... ) SatNag should be fine thereafter, it's a half mile down that road on the left. Tight entrance but got the 747 in without a problem (so should be ok for Ken and Bob )

Have Fun. :thumb:

Barry and Sue.

Just realised what I said above best campsite in Morocco..... Perhaps we should have some nominations and have a vote for the top ten (MHF Tripadvsir  ) oh and perhaps we could nominate the worst. :Eeek:

By 'eck, it's a bit hot in Marrakesh.

Makes a change after what we've been through to get here.

The musical interlude last night had to be seen and heard to be believed.

Suggy playing acoustic twelve string and the Moroccan trio (average age 20) on Fender Strat, Yamaha Bass and big Berber drum playing through amplifiers.

Suggys rendition of Credence Clearwater Revival's 'Big Moon on the Rise' sounded distinctly weird when drowned out by the Moroccan accompanists. The song was lost in the cacophony.

Suggy loaned his cherished twelve string to the fresh faced Moroccan boy who played the Strat. He plugged it into his amp and we had another hour's worth of of their music. Wow:Eeek:

Ive seen them this morning and handed the young lad my ukulele and he even got that sounding the same. Incredible and very talented :thumb::thumb:

R113 between Alnif and the N10 near Tinerhir is all tarmac

Afternoon all

Quick word on our find of the day: the R113 between Alnif and the N10 near Tinerhir ( and the Gorges du Todra ) is fully tarmacadamed. Not a lot of use to anyone doing the usual east-west, west-east routes but saved us a lot of miles and time going south to north by giving us an easy route from Tazzarine to our stay for tonight - Hotel-Camping le Soleil at the bottom of the Todra Gorge. Another excellent site (thank you Mr Gambini!) ......rubbish wifi though.....

Take Care

After what seemed like driving for ever trying to find camping Ferdaous I gave up and paid a taxi driver to lead us to it

You can come on foot, you are half a mile away

Look on mapwithme.

You're not missing much, I thought this place was much better than it is.

Crap shop, restaurant closed, poor toilets, cold washing water.

Nice site this big pool bar cafe , looks quite full
I did not ask the price as I was so nackered
Why am I knackered you may well ask !
We went the long way round to get here after missing the exit for marakech
It was an interesting drive to say the least as we had to come via the N7 from EL Jadida:Doh:

It's not quite like that, in 09 we arrived here to "the new toilet block" after 2 weeks of obscene toilet blocks and it was magnificent. This time it's stop two on the holiday and smelly and dirty, that's what comes as a shock.

This site is being run down when Morocco is prospering.

I think all the funsters 2013 n 2014 would agree with you ,

We found the sites varied imensely as do the prices , we rarely use the leccy as it usually around 195volts and is on n off all the time

The state of some of the sites we gave visited have been very poor , yet it dosent seem to bother the french at all , i wonder what their homes are like:Eeek:

we thought that the last occupants of some of the sites were the french foreign legion:Rofl1:
regards suggy
