My mate had his car broken into for a pair of beat-up trainers (one of which had a hole in the sole) which he'd taken off to put on his fishing waders to go fishing. He had to drive home wearing waders!

Sorry to hear of the theft. On the headlamp front, mine cost a fortune to replace from the dealer. So try Coastal Motorhomes. They gave a good service when my headlamp got smashed by a stone from a cement lorry on the M6/ M62 junction.

Coastal Motorhomes want £985 plus delivery. Hate to think what they'd charge to fit it!

Best I can find is £527 on ebay. It's an easy fit as I just found out. Took the old one out in 3 minutes.

If anyone knows where I can get it for less than £527 do let me know.

There was a time that bikers respected other bikers, campers respected other campers. Nothing was ever touched by those in the same situation.
Obviously these thieves are not bikers, just total thieving bastards that think others owe them a living and think nothing of stealing other peoples possession. And it is only going to get worse, unless we get rid of the woke brigade and introduce some real harsh punishments.
The police aren't interested in such crimes because they know even if caught they will just get a slap on the wrist and a petty fine.
Unless that is you happen to cut down a couple of tree and a neighbour reports you and the police attend three times, go figure!

Saw 2 of these in Manchester the night my bike was nicked. Driving through busy built up fairly central Manchester at 6.30 pm with balaclavas and hoodies.

We also get 'kids' from a nearby travellers site riding motorbikes around our estate - no number plates, helmets - sometimes on the cycle path/walkways. Been doing for years and the police have been notified but they do nothing - even though they know where they live.

Got a phone call from Greater Manchester police. Bike recovered! some damage to the front end whereit looks like they have tried to access the ignition to 'jump start' it. (Not sure if I said before - it is an electric bike) Guess they couldn't get it going and dumped it. Or maybe the battery ran out! Waiting to hear whether the insurance co. think it's worth fixing.

Bike written off. Insurance offered me £870. I told them I thought £1200 was more realistic and found a couple of ads on Auto trader to back it up. They countered with an offer of .....1200! (I think I should have gone for more!).

Amazed how easy the claim was. (Ageas through Bikesure which I think is a sub company of Adrian Flux) accepted the offer by a click on the phone, entered my bank account number and the money was in my account 30 mins later!

To be fair I think it was a reasonable result. The bike cost 1750 over 4 years ago and we weren't using it much as I find we use e bikes more nowadays. 1200 was more than I would have got trying to sell it.

Consequently Norway only has 55 people per 100,000 in prison.
Finland, with the same system is even lower at 52.
The UK has 150 people per 100,000 in prison.

I'd say it's fairly obvious who has the 'good' system.

Any country with a prison figure of over 100 per 100,000 obviously does not have a system that works.

I assume you mean the bike that was stolen? - if so, yes it was a 50cc equivalent electric moped/motorbike/scooter. Registered, taxed, insured- helmet required. Need a motorbike license to drive (or if you are old like me you can drive it on your car licence.)

The e bikes we now use are just electric cycles so nothing needed in those terms.

I don't really know. Probably would have been just the same as they were already processing it as stolen before the police found it. I don't recall them giving a period to wait to see if it was recovered.

I doubt that very much. You think that if I'd said it had a chain on it, or disc lok, etc they'd send the police helicopter out or notify all units??? No, of course not. To them it was a small crime among thousands with no realistic way of finding the perpetrators (no CCTV, happened probably hours earlier) The ignition/steering was locked and the key wasn't left on the bike so it was locked in normal terms and within the insurance terms.

Yes - has more torque than a 50cc petrol so carried 2 reasonably well (except on really steep hills. One up it is fine and can actually do 45mph with a simple electronic derestriction. 28mph (the legal limit) is reached and cruises at easily. The only down side was the range which was at best 30 miles but if driven full blast all the time could be less than 20. There are versions with better batteries though.

I’ve seen a documentary about their penal system and it’s more like hotels than prisons. That in itself ensures there is no deterrent to would be criminals. Sometimes it’s not all about saving money.
