Your best motorhome gadget

May have posted before.

Battery-to-battery charger for on the move. Tops up leisure batteries in a 1/2 hour run.

Suits those who do not use EHU ans sites.

Showing my ignorance here (only had the van since last September) but I thought that the leisure battery was charged when you are running the engine anyway!

We haven't stayed on sites since our first trip last year and have had a couple of week long trips as well as a weekly overnight stay to go lake swimming so haven't hooked the van up in ages. It does have solar panel so am I to understand that it is being kept topped up by that?

Mirage 5000 van.

Ooh, im getting one of those. Our tiny washroom has 2 banks of 16 led bright white lights, horrible in middle of night!
I have two, one hangs on a mug which lights my way to the loo, the other hangs in the bathroom, of course you could hang one in the loo itself !

My best gadget is my solar panel, followed closely by my coffee whisk, my mother's bread knife, it's got to be over fifty years old but cuts an uncut loaf with perfect precision, and since I bought a van with sliding door my door stop is perfect if not completely on level ground. :giggle:?

Some people find that the engine charging of the leisure battery is not very quick and efficient. A battery to battery charger manages the leisure battery with phases that optimise the charging to the type of battery. Particularly helpful if your vehicle has a smart alternator which may well shut down before the leisure battery has fully charged. It sounds like your existing set up is coping with your style of use.

Schucker.
Electric single ring induction hob from IKEA.

I think I want this on my van. At the NEC last weekend I expected to see lots of systems on offer but actually saw none! Have you any experience with where to source one from and any advice regarding fitting/use etc?

Many thanks in advance

We bought ours from Trailer Vision. You will find them online. It wasn't cheap. They will come out and fit, providing you have enough space, as they need to spread marked templates on the ground so they can set the four cameras. It's called Omni Van.

We can't decide on a short list let alone one! Have a thread with some of our favourites here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...vc-modding-accessories-discount-codes.184590/ (many more to be added yet though :giggle: )
Like others TyrePal is one essential safety gadget that deserves a mention https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...r-tyres-20-discount-code-for-funsters.194219/
These aren't ours but spotted a few today on Facebook groups that piqued our interest:
Water pistol to rinse wet/muddy rear camera
Collapsible ice trays
Ikea Skadis https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/skadis-pegboard-combination-white-s09216595/ wall storage rack
Magnetic knife holder strip used for small tins for herbs & spices

Oh, a dishwasher. What we call in our family, a wishdosher, thanks to my wife's faux pas. She has a wonderful record of those, but that is one of my favourites.

My favourite it has to be the lithium bank. At 5kwh storage I can off grid weeks on end, use electricity as much as I like without the worry of sulphated batts, and top it up as in when I can. I can save a great deal on lpg by using electric cooking, hot water and even heating during solar harvest.

Best MoHo gismo is my new Sat Nav from C M Navigation, superseding an in dash unit. I have put in the dimensions of the MoHo and it warns me if my route is not suitable, all for £139 qwids. My second navigation system SWMBO likes it as it takes the hassle from her as the navigation officer.

Full air suspension.
Best value has to be 4 quid spent on a fresnel screen on the passenger window makes akward junctions a doddle, don't have to rely on the boss.
What is a fresnel screen please

At the front of the van it is the V6 under the bonnet connected to an automatic gearbox.

At the back of the van it’s the toilet, it’s so so useful!

I’d add one other:

We have an 80l fridge/freezer 240/12V in the garage.
Pre cook meals at home days before departure and heat up in turn.
Can get around 20 meals for ski trip in there.

And enough home made pork pies for the pistes!
