Your Beer of the week

Finishing off the last beers rom 2020

Evening all. :)

I've just had one of these................

I spotted it in Morrisons next to the McEwan's Champion Ale, in their 4 for £6 offer.
I'm not a whisky drinker so wasn't sure at first, but I am pleased to say that I found it very enjoyable with notes of toffee, chocolate, and biscuit on the palate. For me it was up there with the likes of Doom Bar Reserve, ie, very moreish.

As much as I like McEwan's Champion Ale, the Headspace was mellow, sweeter, and smoother in comparison.
I'll be grabbing a few of more of them when I can. ;)

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)

Crafty Dan 13 Guns. Wife came home with 4 cans of this (330mls). She got it from Herons for £3.49. More than what we usually pay. It tasted delicious but was it a good buy, is it a quality beer?

Yes because you enjoyed it.
Or do you mean economically? £3.49 for 4 cans looks decent.

It’s a craft beer brewed in the UK
Crafty Dan's 13 Guns is an emphatically hoppy pale ale brewed from exotic Amarillo and Citra hops. Fruity in aroma and flavour, with notes of nectarine and grapefruit.

Its from the pilot 20 barrel brewery inside Thwaites has pretty good reviews so at that price worth a try but it could be made to a budget specifically for the supermarkets.

available for a short time is WBB’s Dr Hexter’s Healer
A smashing ESB style beer.

Oh! Better check and edit in a voucher code if needed for the GoB…
EDIT. there is a code for the GoB offer: GOB20
And a shop link (with a bias to the ‘Healer beer 😂)

Luckily got a delivery of beer before 3 feet of snow made our road impassable...had a nice craft beer from a Polish brewery...Deer Bear...was called chocolate factory sweet stout...very different for me being a lager drinker but would certainly have again.

Tropicalia from Creature Comforts in Athens, Ga. is what I'm craving at the moment. The best I've had was AleSmith's IPA.

To me, above is one of the worst beers in the world, but then again I do not like smoked flavourings at all. It is all up to you what you like.

Is it the alcohol % & citrus flavour you like?
Two citrus flavoured ales I like are Adnams Ghost Ship 4.5% & West Berkshire Brewery's Maharajah IPA 5.1%

Look out tho, Adnams do a 0.5% version of the Ghost Ship...

Doing dry February, can't help.

Only had four new beers in January, as usual I did have plenty more beers but without shopping (I have not been in a shop since August last year and that was for beer), not many new ones.

Bought & received another two cases of the Dr :)
Why not? It's only on a limited run & I'm not counting on being allowed to SD in a pub garden this side of Easter 🕺

I notice that a lot of canned and bottled beers, especially Craft Beers, are sold in 330ml measures. 😕
As a result of our EU membership, we appear to have been forced into accepting 500ml measures, (less than a pint), then forced into accepting 440ml cans, (even less again), but I'll be damned if I am going to accept 330ml measures, whilst those brewing and distributing them, want to charge pint measure prices. 😡

It's the same with many consumer items, ie, less bang for your buck. Pringles is a prime example, ie, in the smaller size tube, they kept reducing the amount in the tube, but retained the same size tube. Brewers reduce the strength of beers, so that they pay less to the tax man, yet we are charged the same price at the pump, and if unlucky, end up with a huge head on it too, so diddled twice on the same pint. 😡

Rant over. 😉

I'm currently enjoying a ........
