Your Beer of the week

I am going to try some of these this week. The company I work for sent them out to all staff for a virtual Friday's Drinks but totally forgot most are Belgian/Dutch speaking so not much conversation at my end ;-)

When I was stationed in Osnabruck, Germany, there was a steak house we used to frequent. It was called the Remmer I think. They sold a nice heavy German bear, not a pils as usual. It may have been a special for the steak house because it was called a Remmer beer. I am not a fan of Larger preferring a bitter so the Remmer was a nice change.
I have tried a few nice German or Belgium bears but havnt found anything quite the same. Perhaps this free time will be a chance to see what’s available.

Perhaps it was a Bock or Dubbel beer which would be a good match for steak. How was the colouring ?

If memory serves me correct it was a dark beer. I was told it was from the north of Germany. If you put Remmer into Google I have found some beers with that name.
When we are let out again I would like to go back to that area of Germany . Last time it was southern Germany and the romantic way. The Remmer will be long gone but it was a lovely town. It wont be quite as I remember with no marauding squadies trying to drink the town dry.

I'll be treating myself next week, that's for sure Steve. I might even by eight of them.

BTW, I wouldn't half mind being sat at a THS in Sheringham, halving a beer whilst watching the sun go down over the sea. ;)

Dream on Jock. :(

Cheers :drink:

I've not decided yet, but I do have my eye on that St Peter's Plum Porter which I've not tried before.

Cheers :drink:

Jock. ?

Several weeks into the lockdown and I am getting through my stock of beer, I do still have plenty but I am rationing the beers I have not tried before. I have also reordered more of the usual beers, just in case.

Which supermarket is that Jock

Which supermarket is that Jock
Morrisons Joe (or Denise), ie, 4 for £6.
Tesco do similar, which includes Abbot Reserve, McEwans Champion Ale, and Theakstons Old Peculier. (y)

Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen are quite often cheaper at Aldi, plus their range of Harper's Bottled Beers are not bad. (y) I like their North Bridge Brown Ale. Not quite the Newkie Brown, but very similar.
BTW, for Harper's, read Marston's. ;)

If you like grapefruit ipa then try Brewdog’s Elvis Juice, very nice but 6.5 % so not too many!
