Can I ask what year your van is? I was aware of the flex plate problem when we bought the Palace but believe that it is only vehicles sometime before 2019 (ours is 2019 chassis and supposed to be OK)Reading this with interest as we broke down in France last Sunday with our Iveco based van which is still in France waiting to be brought home in about 15 working days.
I'm certain its the flexplate between the engine and torque converter, both certainly buggered(horrendous noise), hoping 8zf is ok!
I've now been told that the part is a Reactive recall and Iveco only do this if it breaks Apparently some flexplates had the shims spot welded at the factory which caused a weakness in the metal, they now supply them as separate parts!
I'd missed the post on Fun that advised of this possible fault and Steve Greenhalgh said he had told me but I obviously hadn't listened!
I had prepared the van well for the trip and would have been a fairly easy check if I'd known to inspect!
Insured with NFU and breakdown with RAC Arrival.
My advise to others is be very careful how you describe what happened to the breakdown and insurance companies, one wrong word and they'll try to get out of paying. It became a living nightmare!!
Fortunately the French recovery company Garage Vin Depannage got things sorted for us.
Also make sure the phones are fully charged at all times as you will be reliant on them, lost count of how many calls we had to make!
Looking forward to getting it back home but not looking forward to the bill. Our roads are too small for an Arctic with the motorhome on top so it will have to be taken to a commercial yard
Its made me question whether I ever want to go abroad again.
Do you know the weight, length and age restrictions with Brittannia rescue (LV).Great result! We’ve been talking about moving from Nationwide Flexplus account to LV for breakdown, on the back of this
I have always wondered how the French made their Aires pay, maintenance, water, waste and electricity (sometimes) must cost a community a small fortune and, I know people say that they spent in town but I've never believed it covered the cost.I think it's all to do with Carcassonne. We broke down there the first trip in our present van 12 years ago and there is another Funster who broke down there very recently too. I think it's the Carcassonne Curse, beware.

I have looked but can't find any age restriction it says any vehicle that is legal on British roads.Do you know the weight, length and age restrictions with Brittannia rescue (LV).
We had much the same experience with LV this year when our car was written off had a replacement within ten days all payed up and didn’t lose any no claimsI know I keep going on about this and never using breakdown before but seeing all the horror stories about breakdown firms.
I honestly don't know what else LV could have done for us, amazing service.
No arguments about anything even suggesting stuff we could get that we wouldn't have thought about asking for.
Amazing service.
No questions about services or anything no one saw the van but just looked after us as if it was a brand new van.
I don't want anyone changing their present arrangement on my say so.Great result! We’ve been talking about moving from Nationwide Flexplus account to LV for breakdown, on the back of this

No they brought it in and backed in , we have unloaded the stuff we had left on emptied toilet and grey and now she's ready for off again. You tried driving her yet?
Well AA were completely brilliant. In fact the man at the Lyon hub was so helpful (Bastien) I felt obliged to enquire if he was married which really made him laugh.I know I keep going on about this and never using breakdown before but seeing all the horror stories about breakdown firms.

I suppose it must be the luck of the draw.Well AA were completely brilliant. In fact the man at the Lyon hub was so helpful (Bastien) I felt obliged to enquire if he was married which really made him laugh.
{We broke down (flywheel on clutch) in Carcassonne in 2012, but called the AA as we were with Safeguard. The French AA hub in Lyon were wonderful, arranged for thePVC to be trailered back home and gave us a car and £1000 worth of hotels. We exchanged the car at Calais for a UK reg car, a new hyundai with 17 miles on the clock. In Spain when the windsceen motor went during horrendous rain they did not care at all and we had to sort it out ourselves with the local Citroen garage. AA in France top marks, in Spain none at all.}
What a bummer, I read it on the German liner treff forum around 2019 I guess.Hi Martin,
Ours is a 2016 Iveco Daily 3.0 with 8ZF.
Had it 8 1/2 yrs now with 39k on clock.
There were no signs of any problems, I’d personally done a major service for the trip including ZF oil and sump.
I now believe the plate had started to split but dropping down a large ramp on the motorway split it more and I thought the noise I heard after that was an exhaust blow but I now know it was the Flexplate vibrating through the unit. It eventually shattered 50 miles up the road.
I had stopped to check twice but thought it’s just the exhaust!
We were booked to come home the next day so thought I’d sort at home.
I wish I’d known there was a possible fault with them as it would have been so easy to take a look while I was working on it.
Local Iveco dealer is not admitting to any recalls for this on ours or other Daily’s.
Thanks for the link. Lots to readtezza-alli I don't know if this is any good to you, https://linertreff.com/board/thread/1854-getriebeproblem-daily/?pageNo=1

I have had a short run in the van and it does indeed drive like brand new , the gearbox is quieter than it has ever been and you can change gear with one finger.Only just caught up with the final outcome of this thread. Delighted you've got your van back home Charlie ( chaser ) and that the garage has done a good job replacing the gearbox.
Like so many things in life, you have to put the whole episode down to experience.
Hope you can get some more use out of the van now it's fixed, wherever you might choose to go.

Garage must know what they doing , brilliant.
But the out and out winner in this is LV breakdown insurance, only this morning as I have said in another thread we have received a bank deposit from them of just over £300 for the airfares and expenses in getting the van back.
I just never realised there was such genuine big companies about anymore.
They absolutely did everything and more than you could expect a breakdown firm to do.
I just don't know how to recommend them anymore.
They have certainly got my business for as long as I am driving.
And I'd still be using them too Chas through the CSMA, if they covered an 8.5m MH in the EU, but unfortunately they don't.They have certainly got my business for as long as I am driving.
You also need to read this & ask your dealer why he doesn't know?Local Iveco dealer is not admitting to any recalls for this on ours or other Daily’s.
