Has anyone used the 'dispense at site' rather than 'post to home' service recently? If so, can you advise if you had any issues obtaining your card at the site? We are in Spain and will be returning to the UK in April/May via France, so would like to give one of these sites a try.
We're on our way back from Spain and have stopped on their site in Millau tonight.
I have never used them before so had to get the card from the machine at the barrier.
It was easy with no complications - simply entered my name, postcode, email address and registration number on the touchscreen.
It told me how much it cost to stay the night (plus the one off €5 cost of the card), put my credit card in and within seconds their card came out which I then used to enter the site.
It really was that easy.

We use them . Useful for weaning swmbo off sites, she loves to stay on a site but rarely uses any of the facilities so ccp is a good alternative. Everything you need without paying for things like toilets that you don't.

They do vary in quality a lot some are just fenced off areas of car parks. We only seem to find the crap ones and they are expensive at €10 - €12. We don't like paying for things we don't want like EHU & WiFi

It’s a particularly good Aire,large pitches,flat,good surfaces.

I didn’t book as it’s generally quiet at this time of year, however, l wish l had or looked at availability because when we arrived we were turned away. Anyway we are 8km away on another Aire,it’s free😉 And we still got sorted to watch the Match despite the inconvenience and we won,Yahoo🥳😂
Leeds 1 - Southampton 0
Fixed!

Just a big thank you to one and all who have responded to my question, is a great help.

Thanks Cliff, that's invaluable

Stayed at 7 in November and December to and from Spain. Mostly pretty decent.

You do get the option of aires or former campsites.

Charged the card with €10 to pay for the first one. Then topped up a few times to avoid messing about on arrival. Swipe and enter.

Looking at 2023. Some of them are looking a little pricey at €15 and even €17 a night.

You can actually get in without any money on your card, just wave it at the machine on your way in and the barrier will rise, then you can pay the right amount on the way out.

Hi,
Just trolling through information on line with our trip through France/ Spain and Portugal in mind this year and came across this, which I haven't seen before! https://www.campingcarpark.com/en_GB/

Anyone using this, any pros/cons, bad/ good experiences etc.

We plan to use France Passion mostly but thought this may be ok for the days we need to empty wc, top up with fresh water etc.

Thanks,
Ray
Just used them for the first time this year going through France. Really excellent. Will use them all the time now. Great facilities and definitely value for money.

Used a few this last trip returned a couple of weeks ago. 6 weeks. All were fine. Bit expensive I feel but they need to cover the infrastructure.

Just driven through France to Spain, used CCP's all the way, some are better than others, only drawback was just 6amps when the weather was -7! 😂 😂

The big advantage is the availability of water in winter when most aires turn off the supply due to frost risk. We tend to use them at this time of year every 2nd or 3rd night to dump and fill and use the (free ) electricity to charge everything up.

What difference does that make I assume your heating works on gas.
We only have gas heating, works for us.
Conenental sites expect you to only use electric for the fridge and battery charging, perfectly sensible.

I would recommend if you are needing a few facilities, can be expensive when comparing them to a normal aire but they are very handy especially as you can see if they are full or not on the app.

Some even have showers and toilets now too!

I would advise to top up the card via the app, you can then just swipe at the barrier and you are in, in seconds!

I know. Prefer to get in and not mess about when leaving.....

No way, only put enough on the card to get out when leaving. I don't like lending people my money to make money from it.

I find there appears to be a bit of sharp practice. Booked 17240 SAINT GENIS DE SAINTONGE this morning because of the shambles yesterday at Villandry the Website showed 20 pitches 12 taken so l booked for two nights as l have hurt my knee and need to rest it. When we arrived there was no one here, this has happened previously so l think they post false bookings to encourage you to book.
An other thing that happens if you book you have to pay by CC to confirm the booking and yet in my case l,have €108 in credit on my account, perhaps l am doing something wrong.

Forgot to say fabulous Aire,Hedges around Pitches and Tarmac rolled pitches also. Open view yet right in the centre of village.

I seem to remember that they hold your booking open for the full 24 hours , you may find that vans stayed overnight and then left this morning but it still shows their pitch as taken?

You are not alone, don't like paying for things I don't want like EHU.
Same here but if we go this year I am going to get as many things that I can to work off electric, even though we have more electric than we know what to do with , with the solar it's nice to use theirs, up till last year we never hooked up even if we had paid for it, which didn't happen very often but now these places seem to be taking over it's good to play them at their own game.

Trouble is if everyone does that prices will go up even more, at least most Motorhomers don't heat their awning with fan heaters.

How do these cards work might be interested going to the South of France in April then into Spain.

You can either buy the card at a machine at a site for €5 plus whatever the cost of your stay will be or you can register on the website and they will send a card to your home address, obviously that will be plus postage, you can put a credit balance on the card in advance if you wish or just put the amount of your stay on it as and when you stop at a site, the card won't open the exit barrier if you have insufficient funds, there is an app that you can use or login to the website to search for sites or view your balance etc. You won't see the balance come off the card after you exit until the paid for period has expired, this is so you can go out and come back in again without paying twice. You just have to swipe the card against the reader to get in and out.

0/0 suggests there are no available pitches at the moment.
At this time of year it's unlikely to be full unless there is an event on locally, more chance it is closing for refurbishment or there is a problem with the site app.
