Hi,
Just trolling through information on line with our trip through France/ Spain and Portugal in mind this year and came across this, which I haven't seen before! https://www.campingcarpark.com/en_GB/

Anyone using this, any pros/cons, bad/ good experiences etc.

We plan to use France Passion mostly but thought this may be ok for the days we need to empty wc, top up with fresh water etc.

Thanks,
Ray

I've used them, both in a tent and motorhome (on separate occasions) , good value and some very nice locations... easy to use and a good telephone back up in case of problems.

Electricity, water and waste available sometimes Wi-Fi works. A good stop if you’ve been wilding and need refreshing. Not always close to shops / town . I like them.

Lots of the people on here use it,l am on one tonight ,check out Villandry.
We stayed on this site just before it was due to open, so the coach park was available and free, what's it like now?

Used them a fair amount last year when needing hook up or location convenient. At least you know what you’re going to get and always been clean and tidy. Their campsites, generally former municipal sites, can be a bit rough round the edges. App good in that it tells you how many spaces free. Don’t think the Privileges pack is worth is unless you’re in high season.

We will use one or two on the way back from Spain next week

Agreed that the privileges back is not worth it. We found the sites too big for us and remote from civilisation so you are pretty much stuck there. Experience of three in Portugal.

We used them quite a bit last year as we'd put money on the card back in 2020 just before lockdown as we were in France for a month and wanted EHU but of course lock down happened so we came back home before our month was up and hadn't used all the money - we had enough for about 10 nights left on it. Used up that money now so won't them as much this year when we go over. But certainly good if you need to use facilities after wilding.

A word of caution. Check in advance on Search4Sites or google earth etc for actual site conditions. Many of Camping Car Park sites are old municipal units and await refurbishment. We had several disappointments last year until we carried out due diligence. All in all though, a very good system, especially if you pay the extra and book a space in advance - especially in busy periods. Sites are only in France, but a good way to see the country.

We have been using them for a few years. We now use the App rather than the website.
I think you can order the necessary card to be delivered to your home before you set off, as the biggest complaint about the system was about first time users trying to get the card issued at the machine by the entrance barrier.

The English speaking help service is invaluable. On our recent trip to Spain we approached the barrier at their site at Caussade, Nr Montauban. Swiped the card, barrier went up but I had approached at the wrong angle for a high kerb and the barrier dropped again whilst I was manouvering.

Swiping the card again wouldn't work as the machine thought I was in so a quick call got the barrier opened again.

The selling point for us is that the services are invariably open for water etc whilst village Aires often have the water turned off during winter.

Our favourite, and most used, is at Castelnaudery on the Canal du Midi between Carcassone and Toulouse. Easy walk into town and Fuel, Shops etc very handy.

Brilliant, the card only costs 5€ so would seem well worth having one to hand as we have had a few problems over the years with getting entry to some sites.

We only ever add enough money to pay for our stay - no need to keep money on the card, although I sometimes round up so have a few euros by default!

Has anyone used the 'dispense at site' rather than 'post to home' service recently? If so, can you advise if you had any issues obtaining your card at the site? We are in Spain and will be returning to the UK in April/May via France, so would like to give one of these sites a try.

Fulham Dave we got our card via the machine at a site but that is a few years ago, it took a while to fill in all our info before it dispensed, that may be a bit slicker now.

I got my card from the machine at Malaucene - no probs at all.

I've used probably a dozen of their sites here in S of France. There's definitely some variability to the sites - some are very stark, some a bit unloved, some too far out of a town or village, some in noisy locations. All that said, they have saved my bacon this winter when I've needed services and leccy - all else is generally closed. It seems they haven't put prices up to match the increase in cost of electricity, so I'd say they've been quite the bargain - so far! App is pretty good and will most often have photos and user reviews - updates as well. Overall, they aren't generally 'romantic' locations, but very serviceable.

The English speaking help service is invaluable.

We tried that 2-3 years ago and even with the help of a kind Frenchman who was waiting to exit and then the helpline in English they could not resolve the problem. I wonder whether the Polish € debit card was the problem?

It put me off and I have never tried since.

Anyway have joined France Passion this year so with that and Aires that should do us for the few weeks we will be there.

They are paid for Aires and you can’t pre book unless you join their ‘priviliges’ pack which is about €20ish. You can view how many spaces are available via the app but cant book without aforesaid upgrade.

We used them extensively when we had the motorhome
Gone back to car and caravan but we can still use some of them in high season which we intend to this summer
The CCP sites marked as “Camping Mon” accept caravans in the summer months and have amenities block 👍
Good value for money

Got mine at the machine at Vannes back in 2018. Sat there at the barrier and took an age. Fortunately I didn't create a queue.

It’s a particularly good Aire,large pitches,flat,good surfaces.

I didn’t book as it’s generally quiet at this time of year, however, l wish l had or looked at availability because when we arrived we were turned away. Anyway we are 8km away on another Aire,it’s free😉 And we still got sorted to watch the Match despite the inconvenience and we won,Yahoo🥳😂
Leeds 1 - Southampton 0

Currently sitting in one near Cholet on our way home. It’s about half full, I’m surprised it’s so busy at the end of February.
For us the advantage is knowing there will be spaces at the end of a long days drive and having a good idea of the facilities.

Forgot to say the reason it was full/closed to the public was that it had been taken over by a Film Crewe and Actors and so on full of mega vehicles, OH and an extremely arrogant security guard who didn’t have an ounce of courtesy,so he got an earful.

Been using them for about 4 years now (apart from when Covid was rife) find them good value, always nice and clean, plenty of space between each MH. EHU, free WiFi, fresh water, grey waste and toilet dump. at c13euros per night, whilst not free I think think they're a good alternative to sites.
