Will £2+ per litre for diesel change your plans ?

We have changed our plans this year and are now going to tour France and Northern Spain. I suppose fuel prices have played a small part but also time as we were going to go down to Portugal but have now shortened the holiday to 5 weeks instead of 7 because of family commitments ( namely my children want me home for my 60th in late August )

Won't change my usage - it's my hobby - don't smoke or bet, will just have to cut down on my beer, oh my God what am I saying, have to cut down on the dogs food, clear some junk out of the garage and perhaps arrive with almost empty fresh water tank, ease of the gas down to 60 mph and all will be well.
Cut down on beer? How did that even come into your thinking? :ROFLMAO:

Youngest son and his family are a 400 mile return journey, eldest son and family 200 mile return journey…….We’re in a better position than they are, so we won’t be cutting down no matter what price it goes to.🤷‍♂️

We did 3000 miles over 2 months to, from and around Spain last autumn. At 20p extra per litre (working on 27 mpg) that would be an extra £100. It really isn't much in the scheme of things for a 2 month holiday. A couple of meals out. There are plenty of other ways to economise make that money back.
But if you accept them & pay the price you are allowing them to maintain artificially high prices & they will not come down.they need to be driven down now either by another pandemic or sort the russians out once & for all.

Still going to take the Grandson to Prague and Budapest in July but stopping 5 days in each city which will cut down the touring mileage. Just filled up for £152 - yikes

Exactly what i have been saying, we are being conditioned into accepting these falsely high prices as being the norm. Are you aware that HALF of the pump goes to the government in fuel duty and VAT ?, and that the wholesale cost of diesel is 15% less than petrol, so how can the higher price of diesel at the pump be justified,
We must stop justifying to ourselves that these rises are acceptable

But how can you do anything about it? You can't boycott it because most of us have to drive to work etc.

It's because they can get away with it. Got us over a barrel.

Would that be an oil barrel by any chance ?? :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
I just wish that there was a way to start a campaign to get everyone, public and commercial / trade, no not buy fuel for one day every week !!

OK - so what ar you saying?. Don't travel? Cancel all plans? Just stay at home twiddling thumbs whilst the motorhome site on the drive?

Don't see much option it's either stump up if you can afford it or alter your plans. We're going to France next month it won't stop us but we're lucky and can afford it. I think the government ought to do the same as Germany and reduce train and bus fares.
Find it a bit difficult to get motorhome on train or buss, even with my bus pass…

Just been out for a diesel top-up. Local Tescos and Sainsbury's (not competing!) gone up 10p a litre for unleaded (now £1.849) and 12p a litre for diesel (now £1.929) since Monday afternoon. The even more local station that just became a Gulf station but has a dodgy past (never use a credit or debit card!) was 1.899 for diesel but had run out before I arrived flush with cash!

If not when the price should be dropping name & address of all owners directors etc etc etc Of fuel companies & hang them till the price reduces.Nothing matters except low fuel prices. If we are going to have increasing prices then bring oin the nuclear war & let us get the scum that started all this eradicated from the world forever more.

Be handy if you told us the area you live in so we can all avoid them

Oops, forgot to say Tesco Cheriton about 1/2 mile from the Shuttle and Sainsbury's Park Farm by the Roundhill Tunnel about a mile further on towards Dover.

The Gulf station is on the main A259 in West Hythe.

With the current fuel prices it just looks like we will have to have more road kill BBQ's:Eeek: with the price of chicken 🐔 reaching the same price as prime beef.

No change for us, we'd resigned ourselves to the UK last December... As the Moho is hotel on wheels anyway and we take bikes for shopping trips no change for us. We cook in/out of the van mainly anyway due to activities we do and eating places are not always en route across a National Park etc. We go out every month in the MoHo even in the Winter and it still won't be stopping us, Mrs Sg retires next Autumn so more planning to do before then

We have been in France for two weeks and price seems to have risen every day, nothing below €2 a litre average seems to be around €2.10

Definitely more aware of costs, and limiting van speed to 60 on dual carriages and practicing my economy driving skills.
had been planning on getting a fun car to replace my last Lotus. But this has killed this off. Driving for fun has gone, it was getting challenging before, but this just confirms it.

We same as old-mo, oaps limited income, I’m just pleased we not running the rv anymore 10 to the gallon.

The cost of fuel doesn't seem to have had much impact on the idiots who tear around with their foot hard on the pedal !! Motorway speeds still seem to be 80mph+ for that vast majority !!

I tend to bumble along at 60-65 in the moho to avoid wasting fuel, but it is still way cheaper than a fly/hotel trip to Costa de a-Lot

I only drive around 5-6k a year in our moho, so in the grand scheme it means our adventures are costing around 10-15% more . . .
It's all relative . . .
I wouldn't ever fill up on a M-way their prices are extortionate

Steve

The price will rise to just over £2 / ltr for a while, then will drop by about 20p/ ltr and the Government / media will play on this saying that we have got a massive reduction in fuel prices and things will settle at that,
Well that's my view on the subject, all a big con, to try and drive us off the roads and onto a public transport system that is not fit for purpose, and to push the EV movement that is also not fit for purpose,

Called m/way service on m62 yesterday fuel prices just about par with normal price..
only a couple of month ago 20p difference between petrol/deisel now both same…

I am currently two weeks into a three month trip through Europe. France Italy Slovenia Austria Germany Czech Holland and home. Total estimated distance 4000 miles. If fuel was £1.50 a litre it would have cost me £1350 over three months. At £2 a litre that’s £1800 so the real change is the difference between the two. It means an extra £150 a month. I paid £50 last night for a meal and a bottle of wine. The obvious answer to the OP is no effect if you can afford it and big effect if you can’t. Happy travels all…..
