Will £2+ per litre for diesel change your plans ?

So far I've just carried on as normal, but £2 per litre, thats painful, and it's forecast for later this year
I had planned to go to Spain or maybe Croatia in September, but now I'm wondering if staying more in France might be a better idea to save some diesel money ?
But on the other hand, I suppose an additional £300 - 400 for the trip is very annoying but probably not out of the question.
And what about the wider economy, this is going to have such a devastating effect on everything and everybody.
Thoughts .....
£1.49 in Croatia, slightly cheaper in Slovenia, yes your taking a hit to get to the continent but once here cheaper, 170ltr tank so I’m happy.

20p extra per litre translates to roughly an extra £3 extra per 100 miles.

EDIT: Assuming ~30mpg.
A lot of people could save that just by changing their driving style 👍

My partner and I did the maths when covid first hit about no jobs, diesel at £2.50 and all the other first world problems we might have........unless diesel hits 3 quid a litre then our current plans are ok 🤞

Do what you can while you can I recon my old hymer 312d only does low 20s to the gallon I recon but I will use it while ever I can afford it and before it's totally band by the green lobby. Off to Atlantic coast in France next month. All being well. No good being the richest man in the graveyard anyway
Exactly , too many people worry about spending their money thinking I'll need it when I get old , spend it while you're young enough to enjoy it

Why should a Londoner get a pass at 60 full stop 🤷‍♂️
I don't get that either , it seems that Scotland, Wales, NI and London it's 60

England it's state pension age which for me is 67 , why is that ?

I wish I knew.

How is the London scheme funded?
General taxation? If so everyone is paying for it 🤷‍♂️

I don't trust the government, they're committed to removing older cars from the roads, E10 will speed that up, a friend has a 2008 VW, since E10 she's had an engine management light on, I told her to go back to E5 and it's gone out.

I wonder if that's what killed my poor little i20. Got a deisel car now. 🚗💨

Could be worse

Why should a Londoner get a bus pass at 60 then use it in North Yorkshire where we don't get one until 66?
Merseyside issue Bus passes at 60yrs, A few miles away Cheshire Don't. Vote your local council OUT.

What pisses me off is the cheating oil companies that put the price up overnight for the fuel sat in their tanks. If they have for example 40,000 ltrs of fuel and put it up by just 2p a ltr that’s 80,000 p or £800. Multiply that be every garage they run it’s an absolute fortune for just altering the prices, no extra labour, nothing. Then a sniff of a barrel of crude going up and whammy we pay immediately but when it goes down we don’t gain anything.
Robbing Bast**rds oh hang on they pay my pension (y)(y)(y)(y)

We did 3000 miles over 2 months to, from and around Spain last autumn. At 20p extra per litre (working on 27 mpg) that would be an extra £100. It really isn't much in the scheme of things for a 2 month holiday. A couple of meals out. There are plenty of other ways to economise make that money back.

Exactly what i have been saying, we are being conditioned into accepting these falsely high prices as being the norm. Are you aware that HALF of the pump goes to the government in fuel duty and VAT ?, and that the wholesale cost of diesel is 15% less than petrol, so how can the higher price of diesel at the pump be justified,
We must stop justifying to ourselves that these rises are acceptable

was going to Cornwall but £2 a litre that would be about near enough £200 each way for us so were looking at going to North Yorkshire or possibly further up Scotland where I can use my bus pass to get about (y)(y)
You have to pay extra if you taken your tent and camping gear on the bus.

We’re off with Emmit end of month for a couple of weeks, Derby and Beasdale. Mrs Dotty has batch cooked main meals for the whole period and now nicely frozen. Checked the van freezer can hold it ok. Wholesome food for yummies.

We are off to Germany and France Spain Portugal then back through France and home. Not worried about Derv or petrol , will be running on LPG.

Mr Khan buying votes using council tax levies and of course the congestion charge and ULEZ.

Not justifying or accepting! Just answering the original question and saying that it will not affect my travelling/holiday making in anyway and putting it into context.

I'm trying to put a positive spin on my long wait for my new motorhome.Every month is £200 plus I would have spent but didn't so goes on the pot for when it turns up

Ditto for us. Chomping at the bit for a delivery provisionally set for April, now 28th August (allegedly!). The other ‘saving’ is by being a contract of sale and ‘price protected’, we benefit from not having the stump up the £6,500 interim price increase - how much diesel would that cover?

Won't change my usage - it's my hobby - don't smoke or bet, will just have to cut down on my beer, oh my God what am I saying, have to cut down on the dogs food, clear some junk out of the garage and perhaps arrive with almost empty fresh water tank, ease of the gas down to 60 mph and all will be well.

Sorry, i took your post to mean that you had no problems with the false high prices, same here will still keep using the MH, that's what it's for.
Happy travelling,
Joe
