... and one of them is spelt wrong..That’s six words.
im not shooting down others but as I say its just re-ineventing what exists a quick screen grab gave me longitude and latitude just enter the numbers and you can see where I was and where the Al Packers can be viewed
You can have app that will pin point your location on a map and that you can share if you choose W3W I have no issue but its just another variant

I think the industry has lots of examples its like Music You may prefer Rapping and I prefer Reggae You may prefer Deisel engines and I prefer PetrolOk, now read that out over a crackling phone line, with a howling gale and see how long it takes to pass on the information.
Then, for comparison, try to convey 3 words over the same phone. I have an example you could use if you'd like:

lol.
FWIW, I think W3W are making quite a lot of money out of the emergency services etc. using this, which I'm not entirely comfortable with. However, saving lives etc.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a different point of view but, if you started a thread about football, how happy would you be with someone who keeps coming back time and time again saying that rugby is so much better?I think the industry has lots of examples its like Music You may prefer Rapping and I prefer Reggae You may prefer Deisel engines and I prefer Petrol
Here is an industry example and there will be lots and am sure W3W will come up with some as well
GPS to the Rescue: How Tracking Technology Saves Lives
Most people associate GPS technology with avid hikers, military operations, or—perhaps more commonly—as a built-in phone app for directions to that place you can never quite remember how to get to. What most people don’t realize is that GPS technology is being used to save lives around the...gpstrackit.com
Good to hear. I work at events as either a medic or a fireman, if all event organisers did as you do our job would be much easier. Thanks.I run outdoor events and occasionally have to call in the emergency services Giving the location and address using postcodes and descriptions causes inevitable delays which can be life threatening A paramedic introduced us to What3Words. We now write it down in the “office” at the event and whoever has to make a call can do it quickly and accurately. So whether you use it for remembering a wonderful view, saving lives or meeting your daughter at the right section of a large London train station it is an amazingly simple and effective tool. There is nothing negative about it whatsoever. If you don’t like it fine don’t use it but the more people who learn about it the better in my view.
I should add my argument does not suck
Well, as I see it your accuracy is to 5 mtrs. W3W is a 3m2 area so it is more accurate! Yes I know it is equipment dependant, but it is your post!im not shooting down others but as I say its just re-ineventing what exists a quick screen grab gave me longitude and latitude just enter the numbers and you can see where I was and where the Al Packers can be viewed

Oh have you checked out the location of the Al Packers yet from the Longitude and Latitude
This is as close as I can get...Ok, now read that out over a crackling phone line, with a howling gale and see how long it takes to pass on the information.

you don't need to remember the numbers and yup copy and paste is easyNo, because it's just too much effort trying to read, remember and enter all of those numbers...
Have you heard of copy and paste?
How do you copy/paste over the phone?you don't need to remember the numbers and yup copy and paste is easy
5 metres is down to my receiver My watch is more accurate than my phone! the difference between 5 and 3 metres is not a lot in it and if you have the right receiver GPS can go to a few cm so its not actually an argument as to which is the most accurate technology. I think you are confusing pragmatism for negativity.Well, as I see it your accuracy is to 5 mtrs. W3W is a 3m2 area so it is more accurate! Yes I know it is equipment dependant, but it is your post!
W3W is not dependant on GPS for giving you the words. Lets face it, whichever you use will get you close enough. You can also zoom in to see your location on the map in satellite view if you are not sure. But 3m2 is great as I am sure you can quickly search such an area.
We understand you don't want it. We understand that you love your co-ords, most on here like the W3W app! You are never going to convince us to change, so quit the negativity and that holier than though attitude and go find something else to comment on. It is going to become more popular and the dinosaurs will get left behind. And we all know what happened to them.

ST3v3 asked if I had heard of copy and paste, I think they wanted it in preference to a screen grab, so yes a smart phone as you know you can copy and paste to a text or email, and if speaking to a person just look at the screen (if you cant remember the numbers) and speak numbers its quite easyHow do you copy/paste over the phone?
Ha I was just typing thatNot from your screenshot it isn't
Lat 51.837709Not from your screenshot it isn't
Great then you will be able to visit the Al Packers, had you been emergency services they would have just typed the numbers in as I spoke and it would take seconds, as it would had I copy and pasted and if I shared a GPS map app you could have it even faster. But as you say each to thier own and its not negative to say what is preferredAnd the point of this post is? I got out a pen and a piece of paper and I copied down your co-ordinates and then I typed them into Google maps and found the location you indicated. And it took me a couple of minutes.
What are the al packers?Great then you will be able to visit the Al Packers, had you been emergency services they would have just typed the numbers in as I spoke and it would take seconds, as it would had I copy and pasted and if I shared a GPS map app you could have it even faster. Just as a matter of interest, to read out the coordinates over the phone, by my reckoning is 20 syllables, W3W equivalent is 6. Is that 14 extra opportunities to get it wrong?Lat 51.837709
Long 00.640081
This was my experience when calling the emergency services, I barely had any signal, no address and they couldn't use the longitude & latitude from my Tom TomSorry to be a spoilsport, I double checked, the system the Ambulance Service use isn’t compatible with latitude and longtitude figures.
OMG you mean you guys had no idea of coordinates how on earth does the air ambulance get to a location !Sorry to be a spoilsport, I double checked, the system the Ambulance Service use isn’t compatible with latitude and longtitude figures.
We can use Address, Postcode, OS grids and What Three Words.
If you give us lat and long figures, you will be waiting till we can convert them to a format we can enter into the system.
I would just download and use what three words.....
OMG you mean you guys had no idea of coordinates how on earth does the air ambulance get to a location !
Actually helicopters are obviously fitted with GPS but most helicopter pilots fly by what’s know as “dead reckoning” ie looking and understanding topography. It’s no good just entering the co-ordinates, many are ex-military and will still want a map overview first and can just then fly there. Honeywell have some amazing electronic versions of these maps and other exciting gizmos that they can look at in the cockpit but the GPS is more to let base know where they are if something goes wrong rather than to help them find their way.OMG you mean you guys had no idea of coordinates how on earth does the air ambulance get to a location !
