What reaaaally bugs you about your motorhome?

the inabilty to see all of the speedo - Fiat Ducato of course
2nd position of the handbrake - same Fiat Ducato
Cured my Ducato speedo issue with a short length of 12 volt led strip under the cowl, only thing is it is too bright at night! so have to unplug it having wired it into a 12volt socket.

No choice of V8 engine

I cured my Ducato speedo issue by just removing the swivel under the drivers seat which I rarely used, this lowered the seat by about 2 inches allowing me to see the instruments better. Never had a problem, night or day, since!

Try sitting and lower your eyeline by a couple of inches, it might work for you?

The way my leisure battery drains after just 1 day of standing. Could never figure out why this happens. I disconnect the leisure battery now during any standing period and it holds it's charge perfectly for several weeks.
Even with the 12v switched off at the panel?

Accepting that there is always a compromise, there is no excuse for bad design:
  • The mood lights are brighter and use more electricity than all others
  • The radio/media uses more juice than the TV, so we only use it on mains hook up.
  • The step switch is next to the light switch. Terrified that one day I'll step on the step and press the retract button instead of the light.
  • My fixed table has an 8" square hinged section to allow the drop down bed to pass however the bed only interferes withe the table by 1.5".
  • The drop down bed is secured by fixed catches, making it very difficult to shut with bedding in place. All previous vans have used a strap which allows adjustment.
  • Current gripe. The drop down bed mattress is soooooo hard.
Better stop there.

Same as above ,the step switch is just below the light switch and so easy to catch when putting the lights on ,and the cogs inside the step workings are plastic ,so if you do step on accidently as it is going up or down you shear the cogs and you cannot buy them separately you have to buy a complete step

My Frankia isn’t perfect but it does have an outdoor feature, instead of watching paint dry when bored, you can sit back and watch the decals shrinking

I have considered fitting another socket to match the existing CBE ones but the mains socket is not switched as far as I can see. Also drilling that size hole in the panel makes me nervous.

Yes. I've checked that literally everything is switched off over and over again but something is discharging the battery. 2 days of standing it's totally flat. Disconnected, it retains it's charge for weeks, so i know it's not the battery. Had the van 6 years and it's always been like this.

That's not a small drain🤔 If you get a DC clamp meter you can probably trace it in a few minutes. 👍

Fixed (no flap valve) heater outlet in the washroom. With heating on, a reasonable temperature elsewhere has the washroom like a sauna. Apparently blown air systems have to have one vent that cant be closed, Just a pity its that one.

Have you changed the battery? It could be that the battery is knackered and doesn't actually hold much charge?

Huge corner pillars at the windscreen combined with large mirrors on LHDrive Le Voyageur give massive blind spot on european roundabouts. Have had a few close misses with cars I just couldn't see. Great van otherwise.

Have you got a glove box lamp, if you have, quite often they are live to the glovebox switch, it could be a faulty switch making it on all the time

Would not that just discharge his starter battery?

I've found it strange on mine that when the 12v is turned off at the panel, quite a few appliances and even some of the lights still operate. You need to find out which are still operable when "off". Sorry if I'm sating the obvious.

Have you shut down the whole system?

That the previous owner didn't polish it. It's a 2009 that I just picked up so iv'e got 12 years of sun bleached white paint to mop. I'll have arms like popeye in a couple of weeks.
Mines a 2010 and similar gripe with no sheen on it😏
What’s your plan to brighten it? I bought some careavan polish and give it a go but can’t see any difference!

People asking what bugs me about my van , I don't need reminding :oops:o_O:sneaky:

The other half complains that she can’t quite reach the kettle switch with her toe for the morning cuppa. . I on the other hand could reach it but she will not swop sides on the Island bed !!

The old Autosleeper blinds,:unsure: they literally have a mind of they own like a stubborn dog:(

It is pretty simple to do despite the size of the hole..
For example, added a set below the existing 2 gang set ...

Use the frame as a template and make your marks; then you can draw a line corner to corner diagonally and the intersect will give you the perfect centrepoint; then use a holesaw with pilot to do the hole.
52mm is the right size for any device upto a 13A AC Socket and the socket corners will be supported and job is a good 'un.

Be hard pushed to know which was added and what was originally there 13 years earlier.

(I've added around 12 CBE Sockets of various types in my own Autotrail)

Seats in front too high, handbrake so low down and next to useless sun visors, if I put them down I can't see the road as they are level with my mouth
