What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

I helped the guy who fitted the new fridge in the van .made him coffee all worked until found it was running on leisure battery and not gas disconnected the signal wire to fridge every then worked as it was supposed to.👍👍👍

After two weeks of sitting on the drive after a three week tour of France I had no windscreen washers. Bottle empty. Very odd as I keep it topped up. Filled.

Tried it. No washers. Bonnet up. ah ...

Off to Halfords. Only pipe they have is 4mm clear plastic.

Order 8mm black silicone from Bezos.

Cut out that bit and replace.

No washers.

Another load of holes just down by the pump. Replace longer section. Success.

Mice? Abrasion?

That’s mice evidence

Mice, especially if it smells like the berry screen wash I used……

Luckily they stopped here and didn’t chew on the pipes phew 😮‍💨

Replaced all G5 bulbs with LED. Coated front bumper with Auto Glym Bumper & Trim. Full upholstery clean and minor internal repairs on a 20year old MH.

Kitchen tap working fine last night, this morning……nothing.
To get a bowl of hot water to wash-up Manic stood in the washroom pressing the loo flush button to make the pump work and I opened the Kitchen tap, worked a treat.
Now he has the kitchen in disarray and found a broken wire, so we are all happy now! :giggle:

Not actually fixed anything as nothing wrong but I did attach solar wires, and plug, directly to my leisure batteries so I could connect my suitcase solar panel to them when without EHU or to the under bonnet connectors if needed.
In the past, the under bonnet was the only option.

Not a fix but I was fed up with how cold it got under the sofas, so brought some insulation, some silver finishing tape and set about improving the area. Happy with the job, although not completely done as still need to finish some areas with the tape and that’s it for today. Next it’ll be doing the same under the fixed rear bed 👍🏻

A bit off post My dealer reprogrammed today the electric step to stop it fusing when locking and unlocking 2 or 3 times in rapid succession, thought it might be useful if anyone has same problem, mine on a 23 plate.

Picked up a tip ref what to use when I decant water into the van. I usually use a plastic funnel, but this looks much better. Haven’t tried it yet but should be spot on as it’s a nice snug fit over the water point.

My other half demanded white to colour coordinate with our bodywork! Have used rwp shoe instead of the bend, more of a bell end if you know what I mean.

I have a hosepipe.
I carry between 40-80 litres spare fresh in my old army plastic jerrycans, this is now ideal for when I lift and decant into the fresh tank.

I've thought of using the large angled pipe which others have mentioned before that fits snugly in the filler 'outer' however as we drink the water from our tank I wasn't happy that it would be contaminated with any dirt etc that gathered between the cap and the surround, I therefore prefer a smaller pipe with an oblong funnel on the end. As the funnel is separate the pipe sits in it for storage.

Wiper motor packed up in Spain 5 weeks ago. Having spent 3 weeks talking to Carthago, Iveco and BB Systemtech and being told the motors are no longer available and would have to replace the whole assembly, I bit the bullet and ordered at 985 euros........ 2 weeks later it arrived and low and behold had the exact same wiper motor. Changed motor and threw away 700 euros

I have a brand new thetford absortion fridge fitted that fails on gas after 4 to 6 hours. Circuit board and gas valve have been replaced under warranty but fault still exists, going for the gas regulator tomorrow hope that fixes my problem.

Today we 'fixed' our weight a little (12kg) by removing the Fiamma Carry Moto Motorbike Carrier. We neither use it nor want it, so removed it to reduce the weight and get us a bit lighter :)

In other words ... we've removed it so that when we expand our personal 'spare tyres' over Christmas we won't have MH payload problems! 😄

The interior plastic panel on our habitation door has several cracks, caused I suspect, by prolonged exposure to high UV sunlight.
We removed it and took it to a company that specialises in plastics but all they did was stick some soft plastic patches to the back and this hasn’t been successful and more cracks started to appear.
We took the panel off again and used fast-setting hand-kneadable epoxy putty which could be moulded around the various shapes in the door.
It remains to be seen if this will improve the situation.
The alternative is to replace the inside panel, but of course, Autotrail don’t sell the panel on its own, you have to buy the whole door and I dread to think what the shipping to New Zealand will be.

The plastic patches are a good repair to solve existing cracks. To prevent new ones forming you may want to try applying chopped stranded matt with epoxy. Maybe test in a small area first to ensure the epoxy doesn't react.
Then sand the back down well to ensure a good bond. This would I think prevent future cracking.
