What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

Brake light on my Hymer
The LED brake light failed, the LED is not replaceable so the only answer looked like a new rear light cluster from a Hymer dealer 😝 £330.00 . So I took the light off and grafted in an LED bulb from Halfords £2.10 soldered it into the wiring and hey presto no one will ever know

I've just added permanent switched 12v supplies so I can turn the radio head unit on and off when ignition isn't on and a second to turn the reverse camera on manually as it only worked in reverse before. Used a piggyback fuse to take perm 12v from the fusebox. Had to put two diodes in the circuitry so was feeling quite chuffed with myself. I have a problem now though as my Vanbitz immobiliser thinks the ignition is on, (even though the switches are off) and will not set. Have to call Vanbitz on the morning.

Noticed no lights on solar panel charge controller, found no power kept coming down the cable from the solar panels. Went up on roof and found a connector where the 2 cables from the solar panels joined onto the single cable to the charge controller. Pulled it apart and found one of the connecting pins had corroded away, and the other one wasn't far behind. Got a Y- shaped junction box off Ebay for a fiver with proper waterproof glands. Charge I now restored to the batteries, Well happy.

Well I would not call it fixed but the cylinder head gasket went on the way back from salt fleet gale
So I followed Wildman’s advice and put sum kseel well blow me apart from all the rusty water stains under the bonnet you wouldn’t think it had happened watt the hell is that stuff probably gummed up the work’s but seem to have worked Frome stemming traction engine to purring petrol will give it would never have believed it if I hadn’t seen it my shelf a good run today to try it out on to eBay
Hi All,
Missed this post, i must have been under the MoHo. Just put in proper Daytime running lights for a 2006 Fiat Ducato. Quite easy to do if anyone is interested let me know & i will supply the company i got them from, they fit from 2002 to 2006.

Repaired and replaced some lights that weren't working.

So pleased with myself, the Truma combi boiler stopped working on 240v so watched lots of videos, set about trying to sort it.
Why do companies like Burstner put things in the most awkward places and arse about face so it’s so hard to get in and see what your doing. Anyway I managed to reset and it’s worked.
So chuffed

And how much has that saved you from taking it to a dealer..? A little time and research has possibly saved you hundreds and an out of action van at the dealers for a week….

Well done, it’ll give you confidence to try again when something else happens..👍🏼🍻

Did you have to cut access panels in the kitchen cupboard in order to get at it on a my Rapido looks like the trumas in the corner with cupboards built afterwards a post on Faceache confirms this.

No I was able to remove the pipe / flue that takes waste gases away. The cover then slip upwards exposing a circuit board with fuse and reset button. I then had about 75mm of room. Looked at fuse it seamed ok. I used a short screwdriver and was able push the reset button. I put the power back on and had a green light. Hope that helps

I think it would help if i could even see the truma, ive been lucky that in 5 years ive not needed to yet. Later A class have a door from the outside to access it. Looking from the outside directly at the flue is the required acess straight in front , behind boiler or from the right or left.

Our current van is a Burstner Brevio the boiler is situated under the rear seat. Our previous van was a Hymer B774 twin beds in the rear. Boiler was situated under one of the beds with a door to give access. If the boiler has been situated the same way round as this, I think you would need to dismantle the bed to get to it.

I also have a endoscope which let me see where everything was

Replaced the mattress on fixed the bed over the garage.
New one is really comfy and leaves a little squeeze room tween it and the roof lol 😆

The interior plastic panel on our habitation door has several cracks, caused I suspect, by prolonged exposure to high UV sunlight.
We removed it and took it to a company that specialises in plastics but all they did was stick some soft plastic patches to the back and this hasn’t been successful and more cracks started to appear.
We took the panel off again and used fast-setting hand-kneadable epoxy putty which could be moulded around the various shapes in the door.
It remains to be seen if this will improve the situation.
The alternative is to replace the inside panel, but of course, Autotrail don’t sell the panel on its own, you have to buy the whole door and I dread to think what the shipping to New Zealand will be.

I have no idea if you could do this but is it possible to use the old panel as a template / mould to have a new one made?

I think you may be right and I ought to do my research to try to find somewhere that could make a new door panel. In this day and age, with 3D printers, you would think it could be done, but this is sleepy old New Zealand and we’ve only just discovered Bakelite. 🤭

I have fitted LED bulbs to main and dipped beam headlights. I also changed my solar controller over to a Victron as recommended by the tech advisers here. Still have other things to do but they are limited to how long it is before my fingers go blue and I have to give up.

I have a brand new thetford absortion fridge fitted that fails on gas after 4 to 6 hours. Circuit board and gas valve have been replaced under warranty but fault still exists, going for the gas regulator tomorrow hope that fixes my problem.
Gas regulator finally fixed my problem,

Fitted 2nd battery and a cheap battery monitor with shunt. Much more info than the broken CBE panel showed so now need to figure out if it's worth spending £400 to just monitor fresh water level when I can just look under the seat at the tank 🤷

I think you answered your own question
Mine tells me it's either full or empty, nothing inbetween. So I just judge the level by known useage and fill when there's the opportunity

The knackered gauge told me the level in 10% increments, presumably because it thought I gave a $h1t. At about 20% the control panel light still goes red so I don't even have to check the level if I really can't be bothered 👍

Fix a length of clear hose to the outside drain off, clip the other end up higher than the tank outside and problem solved.
All you now have to do is open the drain tap. 😄

That will be £200 please, BARGAIN!

Had a leak on one of my newly installed air assist bags.
Removed it & took it back to the seller.
He did say that they do get some faulty bags, but still charged me £40 to replace it. Bad back means i haven't been able to refit it yet.

sorry to hear of your problem, but did you NOT get a warranty/guarantee when you brought them ?

When I fitted my Air Assist Bags, one also leaked slightly, so I did what I used to do with the airbag suspension on my coaches.

Took it off again, cleaned around the contact point, fitted it again and over pressurised it.
Took it for a short run, and then reduced the pressure to the correct setting.
(Some people say, put a smear of RUBBER grease around the contact surface, but I'm with that as road dirt may stick to it?)

When it comes to DIY I am like. Chocolate fire guard so really please with myself today…

Coming South of Lyon pressed the wash wipe button - no liquid from wipers and LOADS of liquid pouring down the inside of the front lockers above the dash. Clearly something was amiss.

Quick text to RS who called me straight back and described the remedy - remove door on top locker passenger
Side, remove 4 screws and take out back of locker cupboard to reveal the washer tubes. Sure enough one end had popped off leaving water to squirt inside. Pushed back on, taped, tested, screwed everything back together.

Would not have known where to start without that quick phone call Who know I was a DIY genius after all 😀😀

What no jubilee clip?
Oh well, at least next week you will know how to do it.... again! 😄

After some weeks of waiting for better weather and to be bothered to start the job.... I began a solar install with the assistance of my neighbour ( a former Tank engineer for Lockheed Martin) needless to say it's a bells and whistles job.... finish it off tomorrow with the cable work....
