What have you fixed on your motorhome this week?

Someone had managed to break three of the handles/locks on the small roof vents of recently purchased motorhome (after selling our previous one earlier in the year). £17 for two pairs to replace the broken bits (see photo) and a simple fix, only takes 10 mins.

The spring-clippy-thing that keeps the bathroom cabinet door shut keeps coming away from the door. Really need to come up with a more permanent fix for plastic-onto-glass adhesive. (the door is also a mirror).

Not fixed exactly but, when I checked my cylindrical air filter on my Fiat before this years MOT, I noticed it was only dirty in one area so, now that winter is here and the engine needs all the help it can get, I turned the filter 180 degrees, so the incoming air would be hitting a cleaner part of the filter.

I'm not just a camera  I'm good at taking things apart not good at putting them back together
I used to strip down and rebuild car and bike engines. They always seemed to run fine afterwards but I also always had a few bits left over and thinking "I wonder where these were supposed to go?".

Fixqed problem with led strip light under awning not working. Couldn't find a problem with the connection to the light and found they worked when given a separate 12V supply. Eventually figured out that the power wire didn't go directly to the light but via somewhere else.

Decided that they must have a relay somewhere to ensure that they cannot be on when the engine is running and vehicle potentially moving as white lights on the side would be illegal. Eventually found and fixed a problem with the connections to a relay near to the Electroblock under the passenger seat.

My father was the same. He used to keep the spare bits in paper bags with what they were off written on the bag

Have had a weepy gearbox oilseal on the offside driveshaft due to a coroded driveshaft for a while. Replacing the oilseal failed to cure it so fitted new seal and driveshaft. Nutty's contribution to the job .......licking my ear whilst I was layed under the vehicle.

Fitted the gaslow in to the new to us van water tank and plumbing tomorrow.
Then tidy up the gas pipes to cookers
Then get my gas enganering chap to come give it a look over

Removed old headliner, replaced with the variant that has the overhead shelves just above the windscreen so I have somewhere to store bottles of water and driving snacks.

Insulated the space above it, ran cables and fitted USB sockets in the shelves so they can also be used to power/charge devices without having cables all over the dash.

Carpeted the visible portion of the insulation where the shelf over the cab is and blanked off the holes where the central grab handle should go.

Then removed my temporary electrics board and a surprising amount of clutter that had built up in the van, took the floor out and discovered some water under it . Closer inspection showed a tiny bit of weeping from the corner where I'd fitted the skylight, so back on the roof to seal that all up again.

Finished applying seam sealer to the holes where the original ply had been crudely screwed through the floor and put up some high tech leak detection (kitchen paper gaffer taped to ceiling!)

Today's task is to give the roof a clean as it's got manky from standing still. This will also be a good test for leaks. I've then got a couple of small areas that need some rust converter and paint on them and then I can start putting in battens and insulation. An important milestone in the build.

Easy one today. Replaced rubber seal on 10 year old Ducato plastic scuttle piece which you remove to access fluids. Old seal was hanging off and breaking allowing water to drip onto engine below.

New windscreenwipers on the Sprinter. Curious design that meant the right one better released with the bonnet open, but left hand one more accesible with bonnet closed. Go figure.
Thing I havent done: Hooked up the new double reversing camera removing the Obserview unit.....

Tidied up the electric cupboard and battery cupboard wiring , I added a few extras for my solar install plus replaced the main fuses for B2B with a circuit breaker , and a CBE engine battery trickle charger I had in the workshop in here so wanted it to be neater and used slotted trunking to tidy plus added a Victron Smart Shunt that I won in a competition !

I think the Weinsberg wiring while neatish and good quality it is not hidden here. Still thinking about that one. I’m used to my old concord where I think the wiring was better hidden and maybe cabinet quality was better 🤣

Where did you run the wiring from the roof to your solar panel? Also did you go straight from the Victron to the battery with your solar out or does it run into somewhere else? Thanks.

Absolutely nothing but wait long enough

Does a flat tyre on a bike count

Watched my team do something rather spiffingly good ....

After crawling under the motorhome to fit the rear air, everything now in place and tightened up, air lines are into the cab and just need connecting to the valves and fuse to compressor needs replacing (all wiring completed) then the big switch on. Installed new switch in new location for the auto drain down valve as part of the 'process'

SWMS is convinced I will have screws and nuts and bolts left over after putting all the trims, fascia etc back together ,.....🤔🤔

Managed to get my electric awning operating again after locating the control panel which had been put behind my Truma controller. But then managed to crack the screen trying to get it back in arrrrrh.

In November I finally fixed the Ducato Automatic driver footwell heat issue - I removed the “footrest” ( that even at 6ft4in is useless ) early on but still hides the heat up in the dashboard , and I hated the holes left in the floor

Changed the door speakers. Original Fiat speaker on drivers door seized up a few weeks ago. Picked up some Pioneer TS-G1720F units for £25 off Amazon. Straight swap in about 10mins/side and way better sound quality.
