What have you ever forgotten? Mousy off again..

Hi we have recently returned from the Zaragoza area of Spain. There are lots of new Aires opened up in that area.
We had planned to go further to the south but we like walking and exploring the countryside. So didn’t get to the coast as there was too much to see. There is very little information about the villages on the internet, but we found once you look at the local information boards, there are walking trails all over.

Trevor

The photos reminded me that we ave been to that aire thought we had walked from Zaragoza so may be doable with the dogs. Might be wrong though.

We overslept again! So no time for any games.

Using all of your very helpful route tips and after filling with fuel €1.86 (intermarche) we hit the motorway.

Thought of Northernraider when I saw this at the next pump. It made one hell of a noise!

Hoping Martin was too busy driving to spot this Royal Enfield cos I don’t want him getting any ideas for another bike! His short wife obviously isn’t into much sightseeing.

Arrived in Spain Zaragoza to blue skies so parked up in the aire and took the tram into town, €1.50 each and masks compulsory.

Lovely to see Spanish jamon again. Be even nicer to eat some.

View attachment 705952

A well deserved beer for the driver.
Great to people watch as town was packed with young and old.

We are going to ride the bikes into town tomorrow and have a look around this. Will report back.
Do they allow dogs on the tram in Zaragoza Dawn?

Looking forward to following your travels.
I’ve not been on here for a while and this is what I find - the start of motorhoming season travels which inspires me to book my own.
Enjoy!

Van all packed ready for our 12 week winter trip to Spain..including the new Husqavana 401 motorcycle.
As always I spend the first hour trying to think of things we may have left behind…As some of you may remember, we’ve departed on previous trips without Mr Mousys pants, all the maps and aire books and various sundries which at the time seemed dire but I now can’t even remember.

I finally relax and conclude we’ve done ok this time.

We’ve taken the rather brave step of removing the mattress from the front drop down bed to provide additional storage (shoes and handbags 😂!)
Brave because no more grown up kids joining us for a freebie trip but I also cannot dismiss Mr Mousy to that bed if he breathes incorrectly! I’m a captive to our island bed…89 nights, 12 weeks, 3 months…long time however you phrase it.

We make excellent time to euro tunnel, 6 hours from home. Weather not great but we are on our way to sunshine so what’s one last day of rain n wind?

I take Millie into pet reception to check her microchip and rather smugly pass over her passport (purchased in Spain last year with a 3 year rabies vaccination) no expensive Animal health certificate for us!

Except it’s not her Spanish passport it’s her old British one! We’ve packed the wrong one :swear::banghead::swear: (Royal We of course it’s Martins fault…but I’m trying to be magnanimous

Que phone call to eldest Son, “got a few hours spare darling?!”

Eurotunnel are great and book us on the 9.00am train tomorrow morning and we turn the van around heading back to south Wales hoping to meet George halfway with the right passport.

I’m just glad he found it at home otherwise we’d be handing over Millie!

It’s a shame he can’t fit the mattress in his Yaris.. Martin is definitely in the dog house..

So as I have a few hours to spare.. what have you ever forgotten or left behind?
We remember Millie, and Martin! 😂. Hopefully you’ll be on your way tomorrow. 🙏
We’re overnighting at Albacete en-route to Beni tomorrow for 8 nights. Where are you heading?

Hullo! We are at Benicasim for a few nights, maybe Valencia then Mar Menor camping from 19th. How long are you away for?

If any of you are driving watch the winds , its meant to be getting a tad blowy over the next couple of days ;)
My forecast for Benicassim at the mo says 36mph gusts today and 50mph tomorrow.

We went on a sailing holiday to Kefalonia. Whilst checking in at the marina, I realised we’d left Cliff’s RYA Skipper’s qualification at home.

With the threat of a marina bound holiday looming, I rang home, never believing the following would happen:

a) Our Rob was home that night from uni,

b) He actually answered the phone,

c) He could find the Certificate in the myriad of crap I filed in the cabinets,

d) he could scan it on the printer and email it to the marina office.

Never before (or after) have we been so lucky!

After all that we were storm bound for two days - stormbound in Kefalonia - what are the chances of that!

Oh, and we’ve also forgotten the dog after spending the weekend with a crowd of boating friends on a riverbank - we were two miles down the river before they all took great delight in asking us over the radio ‘if we’d forgotten anything?’ And all howled with laughter when we said ‘no - what?’

We left the dog at the marina in Cyprus once - never lived it down! (Did return to get her of course!)

Good drive down to Benicassim. We were like Goldilocks looking for a bed for the night. We use Park4night, first spot was full of cars enjoying Sunday lunch at the nearby restaurants, 2nd Aire was full and I think you’d need to be there early morning ready to pounce, 3rd spot just right.
Next to the beach with 2 other Motorhomes, police passed and we asked if it’s ok. “Si”

Millie loved her run around on the beach.
We got the bikes out and cycled along the front in search of a shop for bread. Sadly everything was shut except a pizza place.
It felt rude not too!

Very windy today but we still went out on the bikes.

We rode all along the sea front which then links up to the Ver verde cycle tract to Oropesa.

Beautiful sunshine and scenery, felt wonderful out of the wind.

Oropesa marina, we were hoping to find somewhere for lunch but the whole town appeared shut!

So after a very blowy ride along the front we turned back towards home.

We found Lidl and got some supplies, Benicassim has loads of cycle tracks so it was an easy trip back. We stopped for a drink at a beach cafe.
Then a nice run around the beach for Millie.
Unfortunately she picked up more than sand from the beach..

These horrible seed burrs which are huge, were so caught in her fur I had to cut them out. 2 were in her beard so she’s sporting a weird goatee now!

For the love of all that’s gorgeous - cut the goatee off!!!!!

Guys I don’t want to cut much off because we are hoping to send her to the groomer we used last year in Los Alcazares….

Hi again, sorry for delayed reply, been travelling and setting up at El Raco. Had fun backwards and forwards to reception ( who were quite helpful) trying to find a plot with some sun at some part of day. Eventually settled on one so happy days. Just need this wind to drop a bit now but it’s sunny so no complaints.
We’re here for another week then Camper Mazzaron from 26 to 28th before meandering down to Turiscampo for 1st Feb. We’ll keep an eye on your progress in case our paths cross. Happy and safe travels.

I once forgot to bring my youngest son home form his first Cubs meeting. I was used to bringing home the older sone only who was now a scout! Woops. Where is Luke? says my wife.

Any updates Dawn, Mousy ….😎

Yes, sorry I thought I’d replied 🙄

Our trip to Valencia got cancelled as we had a few minor van issues…bathroom sink not draining, toilet system blocked (tank not cassette) and all the kitchen cupboard central locks declined to open!

We dashed down to Camping Mar Menor to carry out some maintenance and Martin successfully sorted everything out.

He is particularly proud of his kitchen fix using magnets but I’ll let him post about that.

Since being here we’ve kicked back and enjoyed some lovely days out either cycling or further afield on the motorbike.

Lovely photos, although I am disappointed in the lack of relic finds!

You’re both looking really good - relaxed and chilled. Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend with the family. xx

At €20 it was a bargain too!

EuroTrotters they really are similar! We got Millie from Raffles in Chester.

They would look great running around on the beach together.
