What breed are they? I have had quite a few in the past, now have just a few old ones left and a few useless cockerills!
Won't be getting any more unless / until we stop motorhoming. Had some lovely friendly hens. Think the silkies and bluebells were my favourites, though I cream legbarrs for blue eggs and Welsummers for dark brown eggs.

They are Buff Sussex - dual purpose birds
The girls will replenish our laying flock and the boys will be for the table
We've got La Bresse Gauloise eggs in the incubator, which are table birds which are apparently prized in France for their exceptional meat.
All our chickens have a great life - free ranging in our orchard
Zero food miles and compassionate rearing

We are off to France to our house in Britanny with some furniture all safely stowed in the van. So far, as well as me and Mrs A, 2 dogs and all the usual food clothing and general rubbish, we have managed to find space for,
A 2 seater sofa
Armchair
5m X 3 m oriental rug( very heavy)
Fold up side table
Small bedroom cabinet
5m extension pole ( for paint roller)
6 reupholstered dining chair seats
10 litres assorted paint with brushes and rollers
...and still have room to walk about and sleep
Ought to rename the van an Autosleeper Tardis!

We are off to Saltfleet later, but first I get to drool over fabric & patchwork at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC. I'm not sure which I'm most excited about.

Home this weekend. I'm working Saturday morning then Sunday we're off to Silverstone, Alan's got a tour booked and Sarah & I are going for afternoon tea at a nearby hotel - Christmas presents from a friend :D
