What are you up to this weekend?

I was meant to be finishing off some lighting in an open barn today, but the weather put pay to that, so instead I’ve done nothing.

Sat in front of the fire all afternoon, had a barny with the neighbours at lunch time, they rent from us and served notice to leave at the end of October and now say they need another two weeks, they’ve had the keys to their council house for a fortnight but still haven’t moved the furniture (it’s in the same village) or paid this months rent, so Monday I’m changing the locks and chucking their furniture on my van, shame as they’ve been great tenants and neighbours for 8 years.

Tomorrow is the final round of the BTCC at Brands Hatch so I’ll be watching that and cooking Pizza on my new Ooni Koda.

Going to Barmouth this afternoon. Two nights booked in Hendre Mynach for starters. Maybe stay away till next weekend, we'll see. I know the weather forecast is not promising but it will be good to get away.

Enjoying my work. Usual Sunday.

Had an accepted offer on a Detached bungalow , but spending time trying to work out how to get more daylight in Lounge if deal goes through.
Looked in roof built with preformed Trusses and heating and water pipes where we could have put a Velux window (s) so ruled that idea out.
Then looked at Solar light tubes/ sun tunnels , that pipe light down from roof through to ceiling , but I have no experience of these especially as room is 4 X 8 metres =32 square metres another window may be an option, the conservatory does make Lounge dark, we don't want to removing it , we will lighten walls and curtains.
Any advice what be appreciated , experience with sunlight tubes in big rooms I have seen them in bathrooms and hallways.
Get this done by February then we are off in Motorhome hopefully .

Autumn, a depressing time of the year, windy, rain gloomy, dark early...... and then there are the blasted LEAVES!!!! Spent last 3-4 weekends clearing all the leaves from the garden, and there still more to come. Roll on the winter. BUT... management has suggested I buy a leaf blower, after 25 years of Autumn leave clearing. Well you have to do what management says so I hope to be posting this purchase shortly. There may be hope for Autumn yet.

Went a whole 5 miles from our house to Burghead for a walkabout and lunch in Nadja then home to watch the MotoGP. If you've been to Burghead you should know what the last picture is of.

I've spent the weekend sorting out my Studio now I have a new carpet in there
AND I've been doing some work on my model railway especially a very old Lima Class 32 that I got in bits - I rebuilt the the body shell and the motor and have had it running all weekend very fast too

Iwas going to load a short video but it's too big for the site so will try via a YouTube link in a minute

I also have big plans for this weekend sorting out the trash in my house and garage. I put it off for so long but my wife is relentless)) A big cleaning is coming)

Had to post this...... Found this on another site. Hope it makes you laugh.

Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me, again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time, "like sitting around in the Motorhome and drinking John Smiths isn't a good thing." Talking about my "doing-something-usefull" seems to be her favorite topic of conversation. She is "only thinking of me," she said, and suggested, I go down to the old folks Centre and hang out with the fellas. So I did and when I got home, decided to play a prank on her. I sent her an e-mail saying that I had joined the Senior Parachute Club. She replied, "Are you nuts? You're 72 years-old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" I told her that I even had a Membership Card and e-mailed a copy to her. Immediately, she telephoned me and yelled, "Good grief, Dad, where are your glasses?! This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club." "Oh man, am I in trouble," I said, "I signed up for five jumps a week!" The line went dead. Life as a Senior Citizen isn't getting any easier, but sometimes it can be fun.😂😂😂

Plan for next weekend, short trip to Shrewsbury ,2 nights socially distanced on a site in the cold
Great 👍👍👍

If the weather holds out we are going to go to Whisby nature reserve near Lincoln on Sunday. It will give the van a run out and we can do some walking.
Its in the same tier as us so we won’t be breaking any rules and we won’t be using any public facilities.

Getting MH out of storage, cleaning water system and preparing for the following 2 weekends away. 1 into Cheshire and 2nd to Windermere 19/20th.

Car cleaning. Had to take Bertie for a carburetor tune up. Persisting down most of the time there and back (160 mile round trip) so the engine bay and all around the suspension need a Bob clean.
I'm a bit weird, i really enjoy cleaning cars, especially the old one.

We’re two weeks into a six-week tour around the South Island of NZ and looking around the historic (Victorian is considered historic by NZ standards) town of Oamaru, which is known for its penguin colony. The only penguin we have seen is this one painted on an electricity substation.

Off to Basildon Park Saturday.
And a new cycle route Sunday. The disused railway heading north from Hermitage has been repurposed, finally 👍🏻

Absolutely love NZ equally to Aussie. Remember on a coach trip (but cannot remember to where) the coach driver was very convincingly explaining the only pink sheep in the world were bread just down this road. Sure enough a field full of pink sheep. Went down well. Turns out the farmer dyes them as a bit of a tourist attraction.
Want to go back
PS, part of our trip was a trip through the Fjords, stunning.

You’ll be welcome back here. I suggest hiring a motorhome and seeing the back blocks. There are some wonderful places to wild camp.
Incidentally, I know Hartford reasonably well. In 2016 we did a two-week house exchange with a couple who lived near the big church. We had just taken delivery of our motorhome and were about to tour the UK for six months before shipping it back to NZ. Luckily they had enough room in their driveway for the van and we were able to use their car to visit the local sights.

An example of one of our wild camping spots on this trip around the South Island, NZ. This was taken last night overlooking Lake Dunstan at Cromwell, en route to Queenstown. What you can’t see is the wind! Boy did she blow! I felt quite seasick.

We are 300 mts from the church in Hartford. We would only consider a MoHo in NZ. Would have to alternate the wild camping bit with the fully serviced ones. Beautiful places.

We did car and B and B , was amazing . The MH hire was sooooooo expensive and believe me I’m not tight with money . One of the most beautiful places in the whole world , I’ll never forget Milford Sound .

Fully agree. Incredible part of the world.

Yes, I believe motorhome hire is very expensive and with the additional cost of motorcamps (camp sites) it is not an economical way of seeing the country.
Currently, the rental companies are offering motorhomes for about £20 per day and Kiwis are exploring their own backyard, enjoying the experience and consequently wanting to buy motorhomes or caravans - but they are in very short supply, as you can imagine.
