What are you up to this weekend?

Sat on bfa yesterday and watched tele and the rain running down patio windows. Thought sod this so moved to front room and sat on bfa, watched tele but had back to window so couldn't see rain.
Dry bright and sunny this morning so washed and polished car, thinks it's going to rain again 😬😬😬🤬😡😠

We built this , in the rain , ache like a bugger and the ground now looks like a WW1 battlefield . But quite pleased . It will be , next summer , be a chilling area that gets the last of the sun .

Now at the Eden Project, not too busy. For some reason they have closed the quick path down to the food area, now you have to walk half way round the site. Otherwise lovely here. Spent last night at Escot Park, only £6 for overnight stop. Lovely spot on top of a hill . Will go back to Eden tomorrow to go round the rain forest. Now camped at Doubletrees.

Eden Project, another one on the list still to be ticked off.

Just to add if any glasses wearers go to the Rainforest dome at the Eden project, with Covid precautions in place, recommend you use a plastic faceshield. I just used a surgical mask and had real problems with misting up, my OH happy with her plastic faceshield. It is very humid in there. I suffer a bit from knee arthritis and did struggle as the new one way system means a lot further walk than usual to get around the site, bus service not in operation at the moment.

Heading to Old Oaks at Glastonbury then over to Van Bitz on Monday to have a Battery Master fitted.
Don't want to get caught out again like we did at the last lock down when we got a flat battery.
Took the van out twice (not allowed to go more than 5 miles from home) and got 'pulled' twice by plod, two miles from my house :whistle2:

I am sure you'll know what I am making.

A nice big cooking apple waiting to be added with other ingredients tomorrow.
I just hope I have enough jars, they are all clean and ready to go in the oven when this lot is nearly cooked.

Green tomato chutney and I made 10 jars of it.

2.5k tomatoes
500g onion
500g cooking apple
500 sultanas
500g brown sugar
1.14L spiced pickling vinegar
1 tbs salt

Cut up all the toms & onion, place in a bowl layering with the salt, cover and leave for 12 hours or overnight.
Put the vinegar & sugar in a large saucepan, I used my pressure cooker, bring to a low boil stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Drain the water from your tomatoes & onions, DO NO RINSE THEM.......add them to the vinegar/sugar.
Chop up the apple and add them along with the sultanas.
Bring them a gentle boil, then turn the heat down so that they just bubble gently.
They take a least 2 hours and need regular stirring.
Make sure they don't burn in the bottom, but mine didn't.
Put your clean jars into the oven on a medium heat about 20 mins before your ready to fill them, fill them while they are still hot.
Try to use jars that have lids lined with plastic, plain metal ones with be spoiled by the vinegar, even better are kilner type jars.

I only has 2k of toms and adjusted accordingly.
All from memory.

Thanks MrsA that looks interesting.

It's Labour Weekend (public holiday) in New Zealand and we are going to a rally of the NZ Motor Caravan Association. It's being held in an historic former gold and coal mining town called Reefton which was the first settlement ion NZ to have a public supply of electricity in 1888. Ironically, we'll be off-grid and staying at the racecourse.

Moving nearly ten years of "stuff" out of my Hymer home... but leaving enough to keep me alive whiIst I still sleep in it for as long as the garage takes to complete the engine overhaul on the Burstner...

JJ

Love doubletrees, when I lived in Snozzle I’d pop there for a couple of nights

Was supposed to be going to Pembrokeshire for three nights but living in Wales we won't be going anywhere :crying:

After our few days away in North Yorkshire our van looks like a bomb has hit it. We normally keep things tidy but only being away for three nights we left things untill we got home.
Wet walking boots, over trousers and coats. Recycling to put in the right bins. Fridge and food cupboard to clear out.
The toilet flush is playing up, very sluggish and not much water. Bathroom and kitchen to clean and then we are going to take the carpets into the dinning room to hoover and clean them.
I know whats wrong with the flush.I replaced the pump but had run out of heat shrink to make the connections waterproof. Now the connections are corroded and green. One of those must do jobs that became a didnt do jobs.

Doing as little as possible........longest half term ever. Absolutely shattered, mentally and physically. Need a good break. Slight porkie there actually, I will be doing my usual 5 mile run tomorrow.....then crashing.
