We've got loads of Data allowance...but sometimes...🤔

I been reading up on here...on Facebook and watched a few YouTube videos.
Our Data allowance is good....and generally here in Spain we rarely lack a good signal, but....there are times that we haven't got a good enough or even none at all...
Internet for us is fairly essential...planning bike routes, places to stay etc...and entertainment...TV (Footie) posting on here and Facebook...
I'm considering, and therefore asking, What's the latest external Aerial and Router solutions that would help us stay in contact with the outside world..
Just to add.... I've got a spare hole in the MH roof...actually it was where the TV Aerial used to be...the pole is still there.... advantage Me..

There is also a MIMO-4-19, but that has 4 x Mobile and 4 x wifi, which seems overkill because I can't find a router that has 4 x MIMO and 4 x WIFI.

Panorama or Poynting?

I've had up until now the panorama's antenna's, and they have been really good, only recently changed to Poynting and that was solely based on cost as spec wise they are very similar, but the panorama are better looking in my opinion than the Poynting.

Yes, there are some minor differences (other than the shape)....

MIMO-4 has a broader frequency range 617 – 7200 MHz compared to the MIMO-3's 410 – 3800 MHz (this makes less difference than it sounds like it does, they both cover most of what you'll find in Europe)

MIMO-3 has CBRS (CB Radio) which MIMO-4 doesn't have and it also has LTE-M 450. The brief version of LTE 450 is that it's a low frequency (450MHz - who would have guessed?) that's essentially been freed up by the abolition of the 2G standard. What it means in real life is a signal that can travel further due to the longer wavelength.

A word of caution on the MIMO-3-17 though - Poynting list it with 2 x 2 and 4 x 4 MIMO which makes me think that they might (confusingly) offer two variants of it. Just be sure to check that you're getting a 4 x 4 if you choose this. I could be wrong, but I'd definitely check before parting with cash...

There is also a MIMO-4-19, but that has 4 x Mobile and 4 x wifi, which seems overkill because I can't find a router that has 4 x MIMO and 4 x WIFI.

The MIMO-4-19 is essentially the same as the MIMO-4-17 but with the extra 2 WiFi antennas. You don't need it.

Panorama v Poynting?
I've no experience of the Panorama so can't comment on that. This is my second Poynting though and I've been very happy with them.

I discounted that aerial as it was missing some of the bands for rural travelling but there will be more knowledgable people that can comment, on the plus side it is one of their latest antenna's but even their support pointed me towards the one i mentioned earlier.

Am I so glad I trusted my fellow Funsters for advice....
I eMailed an outlet in Alicante to see what they have to offer me as a compatible Aerial for the RUTX14 ....
Firstly they said this router isn't good, in fact quite cheap....
They then went on to offer me various Aerials that,with what I've learnt on here is no way near compatible ....bad advice and most likely clearing out old stock items..not onto me they won't....I may order from them...but my advised choice not theirs..

MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) in the UK use frequencies ranging from Band 20 (800MHz) up to Band 42 (3400MHz) which is why I was saying in my earlier post that both the MIMO-3 and MIMO-4 actually cover everything that's being broadcast in the UK and that the variance in frequency range between the two might be misleading when choosing.

That will vary a bit as you travel in other countries but again, within Europe you shouldn't be affected particularly. The most common ones are Band 1,3,7 and 8 (2100,1800,2600 and 900 MHz respectively)

You will also quite often find bands 19, 20, 28, 38 and 40 (800, 800, 700, 2600 and 2300 MHz respectively)

I found a promotional video by Poynting Sales director...she didn't go technical, it was all very staged in a Q&A format...looked like it was at a German motor show...
Man speaking in English with a German accent..
Asking various questions...can you drive on the motorway with just the magnet fixings. Can you go in a carwash with it in the roof etc etc....all fairly dumb questions.
The poynting lady replied in a similar manner...
However her selling techniques were second to none....
The Puck type is for towns and cities..
The Sharkfin style is for the countryside.
The round Mimo type is for both..
This has clinched it for me...I now know what I don't need....and advice on here has advised what I do.. I've put this link below if anyone might need advice on this matter.

What I have said many times on this forum. The Pucks have very poor or negative gain in the 800 mhz bandwidth this frequency is often used in rural areas as the signal carries further.

I wouldn't order from Wiautomation based on their over charged shipping rate of £25, that's insane. Also, solwise are an authorised reseller of both Poynting and more importantly Teltonika so any issues they do take care of you.

Ive ordered a RUTX14 which came in at a good price for me..

And..... Poynting Mimo 4---17...(Not ordered but 99% sure that's for me)

We are away right now in the van....middle of somewhere, on a col...height 1465m mobile signals both 5bar 4G....a huge bunch of Aerials 1 km away providing all we need...
When we are due back at base jumar sometime this month, I'll order the Poynting and fit at home...the router will be delivered to my neighbour...

Up to a point...

They did replace my DOA RUTX50 with no quibbles, except that I had to ship the dead unit back to them at my expense. Given that I'd spent best part of £1,000 with them it was the principle rather than the cost of the return shipping that stuck with me.

They do know what they're talking about though and their presales team were very helpful.
