Upsidedown Union Flag

So you don't care that somebody (F1 or not) is defacing the United Kingdoms flag by flying it upside down....
SHAME ON YOU !!!!
I'm sure it was a chargeable offence in HM Forces at one time, unless raised in that manner to indicate a "distress signal" to others.
Allowing the Union Jack to touch the ground/floor when being lowered, was also a chargeable offence in the Forces. The charge may even have been one of treason. :whatthe:

Cheers,

Jock. :)

billym Oh thank you for some sanity... YES you got the answer. Marketing ploy. And what a brilliant ploy if their marketing strategy is "Upside down"
The person who thought of that is just pure dead brilliant. Incredible.

Who designed it????...............................yes i know i could Google it but can't be bothered.

In the modern world does it really matter, everybody recognises the Union flag whichever way its flown.
Too much pedantism (is that a real word?) in the world.
So because to the average eye the Union Flag looks the same way either way it's ok. What about if you where from the Isle of Man. Would you be happy having your totally obvious flag flying upside down.
I don't think so.

Surely it’s only brilliant if the masses actually knows what your marketing ploy is.....if not it’s a waste of money.

Like designing a McDonalds logo that nobody associates with McDonalds😉

Indeed... I don't know their marketing ploy BUT I noticed and asked the question
Is that not what marketing is all about.???

I was born in England to English parents, my grandparents were English as where their parents and probably a few generations before them.
I don't need a flag to know my nationality and heritage.

We once came across a demonstration by the N.F. They had a thug holding a Union Jack high , guess what? it was upside down .

If it gets people talking, it’s worked (y)

Without this hangable offence taking place, poppycamper would not have started this thread, and Bristol Street Motors would not have been mentioned to thousands of Funsters. ;)

You think this is the only place the advertisers hope it’s discussed :giggler:
If I thought that....I would have said that 🙃

Considering ’most’ brits these days don’t even know which way up the flag goes....I don’t suppose it matters where you advertise it 🤪

pappajohn. I was born in Scotland to English parents and their parents were English.... But I am Scottish thru and thru but I still consider myself to be British (BRITISH NOT ENGLISH) and I respect OUR national flag. It saddens me that you are taking this selfish attitude whether you need a flag or not..
I was once asked why the Scots hate the English so much.....
Well dare I say maybe the likes of you are the answer. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬

Aren't there more things to worry about?

Answer - yes loads...

Must be a slow day for some.....

You obviously didn't watch today's race then.
Haven't watched it since the 70s/80s.. just big money now controlling it all.

Granted there may be the occasional 'race' but generally a dull as dishwater.

It was quite good on the last few laps though - not the same watching it after ...

It was good!

.....but you missed it... :crying:

By whom...... So what do we do..burn our National identity and let them (who ever they may be) take over.... Don't think so.. I never spent 22yrs in Her Majesty's Royal Navy to say "Ah feck it I've had enuf... take what you want" .
Don't get me wrong, I am not a racist BUT I will fight for right and wrong..... good and bad..and preserve what my ancestors fought 2 world wars and all the conflicts since to preserve.. Amen
