Update on CitiEurope

Just seen a FB post which seems to confirm that they are closing at night because of the migrant troubles. Nothing official found yet. Last couple of entries on Campercontact are from Brits who had problems in the past few days. Pity as it's been very useful :frowny:

Just spoke to a security guard at the aire at Cite Europe who said that it will be open all day, but the closure at 10pm is permanent. Have to say that between my french and his english that might not be accurate.

Thats a real bummer,we use cite Europe on our way out and the night before catching the tunnel home.
I just hope its not permanent and its back to normal before Easter! :(

mitzimad. Ditto the above Steve. We tend to go for the town centre car and coach parking area, at the rear of the Tourist Information Office, (especially in the summertime) but if busy or cordoned off for some reason, we go back up to the Carrefour we past on the way in.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

While always recommending gravelines, I hope this doesn't make it overcrowded

As others have said , not south, but 10 mins up the motorway , gravelines, well easy to get to, always room, easy walk into town , shops and bars , and from around the 16th of Dec , the best proper Xmas market we have ever found, local folks with proper stuff not your usual tat. (y) (y) :xsmile:
There seem to be at least three aires in Gravelines. Which one do you recommend Chaser, we are coming from Ypres tomorrow (Thurdayj

Gravelines sounds great if you’re going north and nice to let others know about it, but my initial question was parking going Rouen way thank you.

Just a fraction over an hour south is Le Crotoy. We've often stayed at the aire by the port. A huge aire, quiet town and a starting point for the next day.

Just looking on Searchforsites and there are 3 aires at Boulogne and another couple a little further on at Neufchatel-Hardelot (50.63367, 1.59845), not too far off the A16, if that helps?

brynric and pete5996 at last I’m going towards Rouen. Thank you

Going to take a look @ Cite Europe in a few mins I'm in the tunnel now. Wife a G Daughter wanna look at shops and may as well get some grub too.
2 hours early on the train happy days

( This didn't go through)

Pulled in a while ago behind 2 other motorhomes. And a guard with a dog informed us that it closes at 10pm like others have said. I asked is it because I'm immigrants and he replied " yes we have bike problems with imagrants here" So there ya go bit of grub and I'm off to Bray Dunes.

Seems to got out of control now. The Police certainly could do without the added problems being caused.
Looks like no more overnighting there until Brexit.
So about 5 years then ?

Thank you ? not going until 17th but I’m going to Rouen way

Disembarked the tunnel about 1730 with the intention of heading to the aire at Sangatte. Arrived there to find it populated by a load of GB plated full-time caravan dwelling FLTs (:giggler:). They were occupying about a third of the total spaces; no one else on the aire and we didn’t fancy sharing it with them so moved to the car/coach park a couple of hundred metres further out of town.

Fingers crossed ?all will be well tonight.

Ian
