Up plating

Did the same as you through SV Tech.
Looked into Van weight Eng but would have had to take a day off work, 50 mile round trip, cost of Weigh-bridge so easier through SV Tech who’s office is 15mins from me.
Why didn't you do it by post like everyone else?

Only need a weighbridge for down plating.
Nope some ask for it. Sv upplated mine and said it was not
required but would help.

it’s also on the form for Van Weight Engineering,.

In my case I discovered I needed to replate after the weigh bridge visit! It turned out that with me and the missus in the front the axle was overloaded. Mrs Codger said if I sat in the garage it would move weight to the back AND lift weight off the front. Cheek :giggler::giggler:

SvTech didnt ask for my van to be weighed, all they wanted was a picture of the air suspension. Mine was done on president, maybe because its a PVC

You don't need to visit either of them in person.

I didn’t say I needed to visit them, I just stated they were only 15mins away from me.
SV Tech didn’t ask for a weighbridge ticket where as Vanweight did, even though I was uprating.

I’m going from 4.5t to 5.0t with VWE and they’ve not asked me to go to a weighbridge. I’ve never heard of a weighbridge ticket to UP plate, only one for DOWN plating. Then again I’m a novice🤔

I was just making it clear for others who may want to use VWE.

Van Weight Enquiry form.
Please read the bottom part of the form.
Gives you the option to select "No".
Regardless of what the form says and whether you answer Yes or No a simple call or email would have clarified. I doubt if one would have been needed for down plating IF it had been at the lower weight previously however it may also be that they are wanting to ensure you have sufficient payload for your needs which is important when either up plating or down plating:

Section H

This is the most valuable section in our opinion, this is your space to tell us all about your vehicle, your conversion, what modifications you’ve already done, or are wanting to do with it, etc; the more information you can give the better.
If you’ve already been to the weighbridge this space is ideal to outline what condition your vehicle was weighed in; for example:-
“We weighed the campervan, I was in the driving seat, no passengers (two empty seats), I had ¼ tank of diesel, the 90L water tank was full, but the 75L grey tank was empty. The camper conversion was all installed, but we haven’t loaded up with food and possessions yet.”
Using this information, in combination with the rest of the form, we can calculate the weight capacity you’re going to need before coming up with a strategy to get you the weight allowance you want.

Never in my entire life am so glad not to be a saddle😁😁

I uplated through SV tech.
Forms sent to DVLA on 26th March, new V5 received 26th April.
Also received a letter from the stating that a VEL refund would be sent to me in a few weeks.

I’m a very happy bunny ☺️

Totally agree here. He will tell you your options before you shell out any cash. Very efficient, quick ,helpful and cheap.

Sv tech were equally good in my experience.
Sorted it in a matter if weeks after a oversight in purchasing a 4.1t minibus on my part....
