It's almost a documentary of UK attitudes of the time. Have things changed much ? Well, this week two young Brits were jailed for inciting people to shoot Harry and Megan for daring to marry a mixed race woman.

That's because some people keep stoking the flames and creating a very hostile environment. They often do it under the guise of nationalism and sadly appropriate our proud flag to do so.

I wanted to post the EU flag as being the best...............cos for the last 40 years I've found my life and my motorhoming life greatly enhanced. But that would be unneccessarily provocative to some.

I don't think any Brexiter dislikes the mainland European people, give or take Chris, it's just the thugs running the place that is the problem. You put up the flag !

Allow me to play Devils advocate for a second here.
If England had an ENP party, just how many of our English neighbours would vote for it?

I'm not backing one side or the other here, just curious, as every time one of these ridiculous debates pops up, it take only a very short period of time before someone jumps on the we hate the "Jocks" bandwagon & spouts vitriol at a nation who voted wholeheartedly to stay in the union.

Folks on here constantly quote that the nation as a whole voted to leave the EU, not Scotland, so in effect Scotland has to go with the greater vote & this is the way the UK which Scotland are part of voted to leave. What's the issue?

I appreciate with hindsight it wasn't very funny and I apologise to all Scottish posters. I need to make better use of emoji's.

I am not English by the way - heaven forbid.

I am not really interested in someones IP address, which will show where a few(very few)people live abroad. But they usually incorporate that into their posts. If you use a UK sim card it will show UK wherever you travel to.

If someone wants to proclaim their proud heritage they can incorporate a flag of their choice into their avatar, even if sadly it has been appropriated by right wing and football holligans whether you like it or not (think swastika, originally a Hindu good luck symbol.......that isn't what you would be saying if you incorporated into your avatar now is it ?)

Jim who are these people who think it is a great idea and why did you choose to do it at such a sensitive and divisive time for our society. Why not let people add a flag or tell us where they are .......if they want to. This calls for a referendum

In fairness to Jim, I think he was simply trying to give more options to funsters, i'm sure if he thought for a moment things would turn into a playground brawl he would not have bothered.

What is the problem?
Several countries are proud of flying their flags.
Even in Scotland, lidl has the Scottish flag in the shape of a heart, on its glass entry doors.
Imagine the outrage if the English flag was stuck on shopfronts in England???
Perhaps the french do have the right idea?

I sincerely hope so...................but it's not an option I think anyone wants .............we can all add a flag of our choice if we want to. Unless of course some of us still believe the swastika is "only" a good luck symbol

I think was very poor timing to plaster the Union Flag all over the site....BUT despite what some posters might think, it is not a sign of weakness to admit you got it wrong........remove it and just allow people to add a flag to their avatar if they want to...........PLEASE.
 
I confess that I am struggling with “ Flag-gate”

Are some of us not taking it and themselves a tad too seriously?*
