Unimog Camper Build

Nice mate... Care to walk us/me through the electrics.... ?
Hi Bud, Ive kept my electrics as simple as possible.
I have 1200w of solar coming into a single Victron MPPT controller then supplying the batteries.
From the batteries I have a Victron 24vDC-12vDC charger that supplies a 12v 12 port RCD.
Then there is a Victron 24vDC-24vDC Charger that supplies a 24v 12 port RCD.
There is also a Victron 24v 3kva 70amp Multiplus Inverter charger that supplies a 240v 5 Port RCD. This unit has a shore input and generator input. With the Cerbo gx below it will monitor the batteries and automatically start the gen when needed. This is all programable on the GX when you set it up.
Each output from the batteries has its own 100amp fuse and each appliance "Lights, Water pump, Fridge, Stove, Oven, toilet.....ect" has its own supply that runs through a specified fuse for the application.
I have ordered the new Cerbo gx and monitor "https://www.victronenergy.com/panel-systems-remote-monitoring/cerbo-gx" Which will tie up all the Victron equipment, battery monitor and water tanks. The GX takes a GPS so you can track your vehicle at anytime as well as GSM so you can log in at anytime and monitor your setup and status.
The batteries in at the moment are from my Landy and will be replaced by 800amps of lithium batteries once complete.
I think that's about it.

Installed the Imass water heater, Pretty straight forward.

Neat install of the water heater.

Just wondering if you'll need to duplicate the number plate and rear lights higher up, at the rear of the habitation cabin ? Expect you've already checked out the relevant legislation.

To be honest I dident think of that yet, I was considering moving them up but they would be really high then. The current lights stand at 1.5m from the ground. Im not sure of the requirements, will look into it. Thanks.

I would say 15/16mpg with the size and weight of the body at about 50mph cruise . :)
There is no 50mph cruise at the moment. Its max 45mph. I need to install the high speed ring and pinion to get 55-60mph but that's £6k. So will have to wait a bit.

Quality workmanship well done and good luck with your adventure.

Thats looking really great. i am going to fit an I mass on my truck as the simplicity suits me. All the best going forward. Iain

Are you going for the incinerator loo?

Installed the 6 x 12V 220AH Victron AGM Batteries, This gives me 1320AH at 12v or 660AH at 24v. Now I need to tidy the wiring and finish the water pipes to the kitchen.
Anyone know a bit about battery balancers? I'm thinking I need to install one. Apparently they assist with keeping the batteries healthy by balancing them out when charging.

Just check on regs as incinerator loos are banned from some countries......mind you if don't tell or publish no one will know!

Decent amount of storage and tidy install. That should do you well.

what size inverter and solar are you running?

Mate. That's some serious battery bank.

Wissel or Gromett may be able to help Regarding battery balancer info
Yes for sure, 400kg of batteries.... Im hoping I can run a Dometic freshjet 2200 aircon off these and the solar setup and it will run the washing machine with no issues.

Looking good :)

Can't help with the balancing I'm afraid - only ever done it LiFePO4.

Actually I did do it with normal Lead Acid batteries a few years ago like this if it helps:

I have seen the below diagram on the Victron Website. This is the setup I have and looks like the balancer will work.

What an amazing project! I hope lots of other members are following your progress.

Came up on the news feed on my phone:

Ive now built the kitchen skeleton and fitted the appliances. Waiting for the CRX140 Fridge which will go under the gas hob. Also waiting for Howdens to re-open so I can get the granite counter fitted.
