Unimog Camper Build

Can you take a photo with some one stood by it? Can't gauge the size but I'm thinking it's huge ?
Will get a model to stand next to it on the weekend, For reference, The flatbed is 1.7m from the ground.

The internal fitout starts. Bed frame done, King size. This will house the 400l water tank.
The two high level cupboards.

Will probably have to be my Wife......lol If I had to get another kind of model the build would take longer with a black eye and broken fingers.....o_O

My walls are GRP with a 4mm ply, So im using Sikaflex adhesive and a couple of Kreg screws.

Did the cupboard sides last night. Starting to get some colour and depth perception so now I can establish the window sizes that will fit. Any ideas on spring hinges? Something that will hold the door up when open without the need for hydraulic struts.

Are you having 1x400L or 2x 200L ? Do you sleep transverse , thinking head clearance with mattress in place :)

Will have one 400l for shower and kitchen sink, and then another 50l for drinking.

Will sleep with head slightly under the cupboard, There is 800mm between the mattress and cupboard and the width is 2.3m. Will probably have a headboard with storage which will minimize the overhead cupboard area. If that makes sense.

I went for 2x200l for redundancy and balance with a storage area in between .

That makes sense, The issue I have is the shape of my tank, I have to have it made bespoke. Would be difficult to have 2. This will sit in the centre under the bed so should be pretty ok with Balance.

How did you do this? Join the tanks together or have separate outlets with a t before the pump

Is it common practice to exit via the side of the tank as low as possible. The thought of the bit that can't escape drives me nuts

It is quite common , i have sucked remnant water etc out thru inspection port in past vehicles . i live in a very hard water area (with private supply) so over time deposits build up . It wasn't done for a contamination reason . An enclosed black tank will hold clean water for extremely long periods safely .

Added some under cupboard lighting last night, This is one of those led light strips that has a remote control and can also work off your phone as an app. You can practically choose any colour you want. It also has a load of additional functions like setting a turn on time for the morning so it slowly gets brighter waking you up.Under Cupboard lighting.JPGUnder Cupboard lighting 2.JPGUnder Cupboard lighting 4.JPG

I'm slack. You've over taken me already and I started forever again... Well done ?

Hi Martin,
We don't talk about the MPG, having said that its not overly bad compared to my Defender. I would like to say 12-15mpg.
The plan is to ship the Mog to the US east coast and tour the national parks up to the top of Alaska and back then ship back to the UK and drive the west coast back to South Africa.
im sure you would like to say 12 to 15 my son in larw had one for tree work and was happy if he got 8/9

Nice mate... Care to walk us/me through the electrics.... ?

Damn, Im hoping I get more than that.

The tree guy was probably mainly moving around in low gear and 4WD on forest tracks, you will do better steady cruise on road.
