Tyrepal Solar are they as bad as I think

Although my Tyrepal system looks similar to the solar version, it pre-dates it.

I've had it on the van(s) for 8 or 9 years and it does an excellent job. (y)

Just replace the sender batteries about every 3 years.

And yes, it can initially be a bit tricky setting it up, but not exactly rocket science... ;)

I charge the receiver / display periodically using the cigarette lighter socket, when the battery indicator shows low. :giggle:

I have the TyrePal TC system for 3 years and it's been 100% reliable with the display picking up the signal from the sensors in less than 1/4mile. It has the lock nuts on the tyres ensors which does take an extra minute to remove the sensor but also harder to nick !
Not had any sensor letting out air from the tyres. I've checked the Tyrepal display pressures against a tyre pressure gauge and they match with in 2-3 psi. I've not checked the absolute accuracy of the temp monitoring but I see the relative tyre temps change against ambient and as the tyres warm up at the start of a trip
I've changed the batteries in the tyre sensors 1 time.
I'm well chuffed with the system and I wouldn't drive my motorhome any where with out them.

We've got the tyrepal solars and they're 100% accurate. I checked them fortnightly against two other gauges and they're spot on. So now I just check the pressure goes up from cold as the tyre heats up to confirm they're sending and leave them to it.

Had the solar system before we added the car and trailer last year, then had to change to the bigger set up and would not like to be without it I think that this is one of the best things I have fitted to the vehicle and now trailer. The constant information is invaluable especially on a long drive in hot temperature.

Had the solar on the van for nearly 4 years no problems at all. Last year it alerted me to a very slow air loss which was a metal valve that was slightly lose.

A friend has had a set for 7 months, last week it decided not to register any of the sensors.

Never had a problem with either our Tyrepal non-solar (MH) or solar sensors (car), been using them for years.
Should have learnt not to tempt fate by now! :( Just been out to the car, Tyrepal solar control unit making repetitive clicking noise which only stops when solar panel covered - nothing showing on screen so U/S.
Will buy a replacement from Amazon Spain for 1/3rd of the price as buying from Tyrepal not an option post Brexit.

4 Tyrepal's with exactly the same fault?

Had mine on 2 different motorhomes with metal valve stems over the last 4 years without any problems, I would not use them on rubber valve stems, they are far to heavy for that.

May be preaching to the more knowledgeable, however It does say not to leave on the dash when not it use as the solar panel can be damaged. I turn it off and put it in the door pocket.

Mine did the same. Fully charge it first via the usb and then it’s very happy. Struggles to charge from completely flat on just solar.
Once charged, solar stayed on top of it no problem

Very pleased with ours. No problems at all, apart from the rubber protector sleeve thing on the valve perishing. Pressures appear to be pretty accurate, at least when compared with a couple of digital meters I have, as well as the brilliant Von Haus cordless inflator, which also has a digital readout.

E have The solar system fitted to our 7.5 mtr Burstner A Class. Works perfectly, took care to clean the valves before screwing on the caps. Set it up September 2019 still have origina Batteries in caps. Covered 10970 miles. Van has been parked in my garage since Dec 2020. Only sunlight it gets is if I have the door open when working in there. When van is not touched system just goes to sleep if I get in it for any reason the display comes to live. Cant fault it

Ive had mine for 3 years no problems, I always turn off the unit when in storage and put it out the sun. More often than not I forget to turn it back on before I move off, takes around 10 minutes to pick up all sensors.
Had to change the battery on one sensor in the 3 years
It did alert me to over temp in Spain on a motorway when I was in a hurry, we had come over on the ferry in January and the change in temperature had pushed the cold pressure up by 5psi. so they worked for me in that instance as I put the pressure back down to what it should have been and it never over temperatured again.

I bought this a couple of weeks back because it looked identical to the Tyrepal Amazon product ASIN B092R1HJ6M
However I'm returning it because a small anti-slip gasket was missing from one of the sensors and Moreeba can't supply a replacement. Without it, there is a chance that using the locknut might break the sensor without the supporting gasket. Despite them saying on the Amazon company page that they give a 12 month warranty, free replacement and parts they say they have no UK warehouse so no ability to support the product. So despite it being almost half the Tyrepal price backup if it goes wrong is unknown.

On the plus side it seems to work perfectly on a first motorway trip. Cold tyre pressure was within 1psi of an accurate gauge, it woke up just opening the car door and showed a 3% rise in pressure when the tyre warmed up. The labels on the sensors disappeared in the car wash but that's a minor issue. So it might well work but support might be an issue unless they simply replaced the whole kit even if just one sensor failed.

Undecided at the moment whether or not to buy again. Is Tyrepal backup worth another £42?

I’ve had tyre pal original ones many years would be without them .sealed them on the threads with gas sealant no problem with leaks. Driving in pyrenees on Tour de France route coming down the brakes overheated tyre pal alerted flashing and beeping this could have saved our lives . Have replaced battery’s yearly and no problem hope this helps.

Bought a set fitted them set them up and eventually got them settled then as the batteries ran down they started to misbehave.

They gave us constant warnings that tyres were overheating /over pressure/ under pressure
We sent them back got them recalibrated

then sold them

In spain . Been all right since buying 3 years ago. Got off the ferry and nsf and ros started saying 6 psi difference to pressure in tyre. Replaced batteries no change . I'll keep them on just for deflation alarm

Had mine for a couple of years with no problem, but when we changed van i couldn't remember which sensor went on which wheel so one kept beeping so changed batteries still beeping ,so took them off on last trip then tried again at home but still the same so in the end i got through to Tyrepal and they said send them back and they will recalibrate them one week turn around , i have to refit them soon lets hope all is well as i think they are a good thing to have ,i think all vehicles should be fitted with TPMS.

Still not sure about them. Haven‘t fitted the set (solar) I bought nearly a year ago. Especially concerned about the posts where they let air out of the tyre. May do some more reading before deciding.

I have had mine fitted for over 2 years and had no problems with loss of air, you just have to make sure you fit them properly with the little spanner provided. My only grouse, is no one will say what range of temperatures you can expect to see as you travel.

Had mine fitted (solar ) for 2yrs with no problems.
The reason I fitted was the faff of removing rear trims to access tyres and then difficulty of getting pressure gauge on my dual rear wheels.
Re pressure loss.. do those that suffer from it change the wee rubber seals in sensor as a matter of coarse.. Available from Tyre Pal website I always carry spares.

All good here with Tyrepal solar, coming up two years now👍

I bought a set just before 1st lockdown.
No matter what I set them at they would either alarm for over pressure or loose pressure. Or not identify a tyre at random.
After several runs I removed and returned them worried that they would deflate a tyre.
Back to good quality valves and a decent tyre pressure guage for regular testing.
Same here,,mine are in the glove box,, BUSBY.

Very happy with our solar TyrePal. Almost 2 years old and 16,000 miles with no issues.

Motorhomers! More money than sense! 44 years having various motor homes never had a puncture!Always makes me laugh what extras and gadgets we buy😊Check your tyre pressures regulary.
