Tyrepal Solar are they as bad as I think

I have a different problem: with twin rear wheels it is difficult enough to obtain the correct extensions so I can reach the valve. With a Tyrepal sensor on the end they look ridiculous and bounce of the wheel trims. I'd much prefer Tyrepal supplied an in-tyre sensor with decent battery life (or powered by movement).
I thought they did a internal transmitter but a bit more expensive?
We had a standard set of 6 tyrepal colour on our Hymer once set it was more reliable than a lot of things on our Hymer🤣

Had ours (not solar) for years, so long I can’t remember when we got them.
Absolutely no problem, as long as I remember to recharge the display every now and again.
If you're using those silly little grub screws to secure the sensors they are a bu&&er to get on and off. I threw those away three or four years ago and haven’t lost a sensor yet. Now it’s as quick to top up pressure as any ordinary valve cap.
Just persevere Jim

Richard.

Did Tyrepal change to a different fitting?
Mine have a locking nut. (Solar)

I've had mine fitted around two years now, no real problems. The offside rear sometimes takes a mile or two to wake up and i have set the high pressure alarm at a slightly higher level due to summer temperatures.
The system has saved me from having a shreded tyre on the motorway, something i had suffered previously. I can assure, that the extra few minutes spent removing the sensors to pump up the tyres is well worth it compared to the faff of a fully blown out tyre on the hard shoulder.

The thing that is key with any of these tyre systems is driver confidence in the system.
Without that they are better off in the bin.
I had reason to question the accuracy of the information I was getting each and every time I drove the vehicle.
Each subsequent stop and check proved the system information incorrect.

After a month of that I had enough and off they came.

I had them on all my cars and the Moho but found after a year or so they stuck/corroded to the valves and couldn’t get them off.

They worked fine just make sure you grease them

I decided to give them another go and get the sensors registered, it wouldn't store the settings and then wouldn't stop beeping. In Tyrepal's defence it is warm, even by Sutton On Sea standards. I was a little hot and bothered and as Siân always says; I do have the patience of a psychopath.....Anyway to cut a long story short, if anyone wants any sensors drop me a line, but I don't have the unit, it didn't survive the bounce off the wall.

Same here, and every time I’ve checked them against separate tyre pressure monitors they’re bang on. Gives me peace of mind, which is what I bought them for.

We've had ours, pre solar, on the van for several years. Take a couple of miles to register each time but happy with that as I do a visual before setting off. Never been more than 2psi out against two manual guages.
Always interested to note that the tyre closest to the exhaust heats up a little more than the rest and temperature displays higher on the sun side of the van when travelling.
We lose a couple psi from the nearside rear on our tag over a few days travelling, this is always picked up and gives me confidence in the system. Time to take off and refit tyre methinks and wipe rim with sealer.

I got a cheap set as a present. Each reading is clearly incorrect BUT they are consistent and increase by a few psi as I drive; they decrease after I stop.
IF there is a large change then an alarm goes off. THAT is my main concern: when I’m driving I’m not concentrating on the actual reading.

I took mine off a couple of years ago but haven't got around to binning them yet - they weren't cheap but that's irrelevant now as they are useless and no point keeping them!

Had them on our previous van and now moved them to this one including trailer with booster link they are not solar working really well they are six years old now changed batteries a couple of times other than that no problems at all😊

Ours have tiny grub screws that lock them on to the valves.
Tightened with an also tiny allan key, which is just about impossible with wheel trims.
Remember mine, like me, are a few years old. :Eeek:

If the sensors are going free happy to give them a new home! :)

We got 10 a couple of years ago (6 on the van and 4 on the trailer). We did have a problem this last winter with 5 over a short time going faulty and leaking air around the battery. Think they may have been a bad batch and were replaced by Tyrepal. They all work well and especially like the temperature reading to alert to a possible brake or bearing issues (especially on a trailer).

Despite at least three attempts, spaced several months apart, and at least a hour each time, I have never managed to get mine set up.
I can't alter the default pressures, or if I do, it's only up by a few PSI before it locks again.

So if anyone would like to pick up a brand new set of four, make me an offer, one pint of beer would suffice.

Yes - earlier ones had a grub screw which was very fiddly but later ones use locking nuts instead (y)

Did you try contacting TyrePal? One way or another they should have been able to sort that either with technical advice or by replacing them if faulty.

Purchased mine back 2019 and used on two vans not missed a beat and works well.

No issues from me.

That was my issue, But this fix worked for me.

Oh err! I bought a set (with a discount) but haven’t yet fitted them. Now I’m not sure whether I’ll bother. Was unaware that they could lower the pressure in the tyres. Looks like about £100 may have been wasted.😕

Hopefully not wasted money - lots of happy owners & users of TyrePal on here & very popular on sister site RVOC too! We wouldn't bother spending our time negotiating a discount code each year or promote it as a safety product if not - no benefit for us in doing this other than helping others travel safer.

Sorry Karen

I am assuming that its just the solar that people are unhappy with, we had the original TC215 with the flow through sensors on the Flair and it was the first thing that I bought for the Palace(y) If I had known that the Palace was going to come with the IVECO system I could have saved some money selling them off cheap.

My Tyrepal is solar and in winter and when van not in use I switch the receiver off making sure battery is fully charged first.
