Tomorrow's weather - Batten down them hatches

Power is on and off but SPEN Gen (generator provided by SP Energy Networks as I am classed as "most vulnerable") is running and the house is isolated from the mains supply. We expect SPEN later tonight to reclaim their genny.

Our old generator gave up the ghost ( it is well over 20 years old and has been well used) so will need to be replaced. I have a thread running about what to replace it with but our brilliant electrician will be out to see us later this week we hope and we will pick his brains about wiring etc.

A lot of people appear to have pulled old broken generators from sheds and garages so there are a few Frankenstein's Monster/Igor generating sets around where two or three or more generators have been adapted to make a single working hybrid.

As we have SPEN Gen we let people know we were a "warm space" as many here have only heat pumps - and hot drinks / soup were available.

I should say that the Social Services Emergency Team have been nriliyfrpm first contact.

I think that we must have a micro climate here, our empty wheely bin actually only moved about 6 inches. Drove to Shrewsbury the next day and no obvious signs that there had been a huge storm :whistle2:

I was on holiday last so fortunately missed the worst of the weather, the reports on the news were awful in some places. We currently have high winds, rain and a fair bit of flooding here in Poole but nothing too bad. Although I am currently sat in bed debating how far to travel to do the food shop…..nothing in the fridge at all currently. Maybe I should have carried on with home deliveries 😂😂😂

We're spending January in France and Spain and let one of my mates stay at our house. He told us yesterday two trees came down in our garden, unfortunately not the one we've got a tree surgeon booked in a months time to remove!

(Preston btw)
