Tomorrow's weather - Batten down them hatches

Cold winter is howling o'er moorland and mountain, and wild is the surge of the dark rolling sea.

Extract from the Road and Miles to Dundee - various claims to authorship

Well it's certainly howling here in Edinburgh - Trams off, busses off, main stores closed (Morrisons, Aldi, Tesco etc) Bins taking off - such fun :whatthe:😱

Bit breezy here in sub tropical Riddings..its just blown my bike cover off...BUSBY

I gave up trying to sleep in the van about 4am. Its very gusty here in Llandudno. Every time i was nearly back to sleep there would be a sudden gust to make the van jump. At least I did have the option to get indoors and sleep on the sofa, very glad I'm not totally reliant on the van right now.

I hope all the full timers have found a sheltered spot for the next few days

So far here my neighbour has a broken tree, hooray thats wood for my log burner when seasoned.(y) another neighbours metal gazebo has blown down and a nearby neighbours garden fence has fallen. No flying trampolines yet.

Hoping everyone has got through the storm safely. In 1987 my Inlaws had a Static in Whitstable and during the night they left their van to shelter from the infamous storm in the brick built toilet block on the site. Their Static van along with many others survived the night undamaged but the toilet block lost its roof whilst they and others were in it.

A little breezy in Ciren……but the sun is shining!! (y) (y)

So far the glass has been blown out on the front of my greenhouse, tempered glass so milions of pieces  and two large section of fence are down. I can see neighbour opposite has lost most of the glass out of her greenhouse too.

Well that's it! We've just went down to a "not so red warning" (60mph) so off to the pub!

Forward planning or what, 10 minute walk into the wind on the way there so work up a drouth and then 2 minute walk back when desperate for a p**!

Sis in law 5 miles East of us has no electric and not due back on until 18:00 tomorrow.
Lad up the road has lost his front and side fence panels and his OAP neighbour has lost a row of eave tiles that had been upgraded to a dry verge system 5 or 6 years ago, hopefully she has some warranty on them ?
Micky the Brickie replied to my WhatsApp and will be round in the next day or so with a new ridge tile for us (y)

Was a bit of a damp quibb here, tail end of the Peak District. My house is at 800ft above sea lever and fairly exposed. I've a few acres of land on the side of a hill with a 48ft polytunnel also quite exposed, but no problems in there either.
I did hear the lid of the wheely bin rattle a couple of times and went to the supermarket in my motorhome at 10 this morning without issue.
Quite disappointed now :(

Apparently caused by a ‘sting jet’ weather event which is a new one on me. Also responsible for the ‘87 Great Storm but not properly understood at the time, hence failure to forecast accurately and Michael Fish’s faux pas!
