Toilet/showers CAMC

The site staff where we stayed, weren’t worried at all. I chatted to one of them and she said that they’d had both the vaccinations so she felt safe. She said they had been issued with strict safety policies to follow regarding keeping themselves and the campers safe. She was very happy to be back to normal service.
“On current trends, the number of deaths will overtake last year’s total within the next three weeks. No country should assume it is out of the woods, no matter its vaccination rate,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the World Health Organisation chief. The Times 25th May 2021(today)
Or you could take the advice of the site warden or the other Covid specialists there are on this post.

I sort of agree and don't think it's yet clear if our low cases are due to vaccination as we were in a very similar position last year with no vaccine. I think there's going to be a lot said by the government about not going mad when restrictions are removed but think just like the advice on no holidays to amber countries many will just ignore it.

I never mentioned taking advice from site staff, I just related a conversation.

Personally speaking, I’ve been very active in trying to follow what’s happening with the virus. I try to be objective regarding where I get my information from. I have a degree in public health, which I believe helps me interpret what’s published.

Unfortunately people often read into what’s said/written what they want to hear/read. Even our foremost scientific experts are having some difficulty in interpreting the data as different models are being used in different countries and some are publishing questionable information. Best not to speculate; just be respectful of what we are being asked to do.

Unfortunately our Government have shown themselves to be capable of making serious mistakes in managing this pandemic. I shall continue to question, rather than follow blindly.

I can think of very few countries that have managed the pandemic better in a similar population density country. I think we have made a lot of mistakes in the delays of introducing measures like the lockdowns travel restrictions etc the saving grace being the vaccination program.
I have a distrust of all politicians being a strong believer that you can tell when one is lying because you can see their lips moving!

It could have been handled better and earlier though, we could have just shut our boarders but too many commercial vested interests said no, same with Christmas why on earth despite being told that was a bad thing to do did they relax the rules.

With that degree of yours yes do carry on and continue to question. I would totally disagree with your assessment...but might ask the site wardens their opinion when I next go into the office.

Fear is irrational
Caution is sensible - but has to be in proportion to the risk.

Caution is wearing a seatbelt when you get in the car - doesn't remove all risks, but reduces them
The only absolute safe way of not being killed by a car is never to go out
Caution is being vaccinated.
The only absolute safe way of never being killed by Covid is to never have contact with anyone.

There's an awful lot of paranoia about - and it's sad.

You see I disagree. If having had your jabs you return to life totally as if covid had never happened it's like putting your seatbelt on and driving like a maniac because it makes you invincible.

Fear is not irrational, it is the one thing that keeps you safe........

"If people didn’t feel fear, they wouldn’t be able to protect themselves from legitimate threats. Fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger that has been pivotal throughout human evolution, but especially in ancient times when men and women regularly faced life-or-death situations.

Many people experience occasional bouts of fear or “nerves” before a flight, first date, or big game. But when someone’s fear is persistent and specific to certain threat, and impairs his or her everyday life, that person might have what’s known as a specific phobia."

I will indeed continue to question, as everyone should. You totally disagree with my assessment? That’s fine, I’m not asking you to agree. Please do what suits you and I will do what suits me.

I see there is a breakdown in communication from the Government today, concerning the eight areas where there are high levels of the Indian Variant. Apparently the people living in those areas shouldn’t be travelling out of these areas but out Government forgot to actually tell them!

Clarity and leadership seems to have gone astray somewhat, which creates uneasiness for people. It’s no wonder there’s a disparity between us knowing precisely what we should or shouldn’t be doing.

Another piece of guidance that I'm sure some here know all about, although nobody's been told.

This is on the Government website, but there's been no official announcement.

If you’re in an area where the new COVID-19 variant is spreading

This new variant is sometimes referred to as the variant first identified in India. It is spreading fastest in:
The new COVID-19 variant spreads more easily from person to person. To help stop the spread, you should take particular caution when meeting anyone outside your household or support bubble.
In the areas listed above, wherever possible, you should try to:
  • meet outside rather than inside where possible
  • keep 2 metres apart from people that you don’t live with (unless you have formed a support bubble with them), this includes friends and family you don’t live with
  • avoid travelling in and out of affected areas unless it is essential, for example for work (if you cannot work from home) or education
You should also:
  • Get tested twice a week for free and isolate if you are positive
  • Continue to work from home if you can
  • Get vaccinated when you are offered it, and encourage others to do so as well.
You should get tested for COVID-19. This includes:

So it's okay for indoor hospitality and non essential shops and gyms etc to open together with everything else but so dodgy that you shouldn't enter or leave but there's no law stopping you and people who live there can still go on holiday.
Could someone explain how it makes sense!!!

Was Tedros Ghebreyesus talking about UK deaths or World deaths in that quote ?

I suspect that the deaths figure must be worldwide but the no matter what the vaccination rate must apply everywhere.

If it is a World figure then the posting at #91 is not relevant to the UK as with the vaccine program our death figures are now tiny, so we don't need any scaremongering from the WHO.

Because the reality is, until and unless a variant comes along that truly defeats the vaccines, then our vaccine program will now deliver very small hospitalisation figures and tiny death figures. If you don't agree with that then please let Boris know before he opens up the UK again on 21st June.

We'll have to wait and see. I think you won't hear any of the government own experts give the sort of guarantee you suggest they're pretty much all saying steady and cautious.
We've got under a thousand covid patients in hospital now how high do you suspect that figures going to go ?

Viruses and bacteria live with us and always have done. Completely eradicating an organism that makes us sick is a noble aim but is not one that is easy to achieve. Are you suggesting that we will always be "in the woods" until Covid-19 is eradicated?

Smallpox was completely eradicated, worldwide in 1980. However, it took more than 200 years and a worldwide vaccination program to eradicate this disease.
