Bought LED sensor lights from Lidl, batteries included, the automatic motion sensor works well, perfect for those nightime visits to the loo, no scrambling for the light switch and Pauline can find the loo roll:rolleyes:.
All for £6.99 or 2 for £12, four models available. Good for lockers, wardrobes and garages also.

I think you'll find it is Terry.:p
I'm not sticking the windows in with it. I shall be using sikaflex for that.
This is to seal around things , to fill in where the curvature of the van is. Which you can't seal properly with sikaflex , it's too thick.
It's uv proof and heat resistant to 200 deg.
So ner ner Na naa naaaaa;)

Split charge relay along with all the bits and Bob's to fit it.. already fitted at the weekend.

New indicator cos that one's broke.. not arrived yet
interior window cover winter blanket things for the cab
New light bulb for the main living area light fitted at the weekend
New spot light to give us light over the table without having the main light on.. not fitted yet..

It still will not stay stuck to your windows Ralph :Eeek::Eeek:You want the mastic on a roll type to go around your windows then the polyurethane glue/sealant(y) but hey ho you live and learn :) far be it for me to tell you what to do ;)We can come back to this in 3 or 4 yrs time :D
terry
BTW Sikaflex is not the best stuff to stick to lots of types of plastic either

It's a proper fixant for vehicles Terry . It's not cheap black stuff.
Let's just agree to differ.......

Ok lets agree to differ ;)I always thought RTV silicon was for gaskets on engines etc where things get really hot :)

1. Spotted by the eagle eyed Rita ;) a brand new, (unused) original large double skillet, complete with the glass lid, detachable handles, and the original recipe sheet. £6.00  That'll do nicely, as we had to ditch our old one a while back.

2. From the Clark's shoe shop in Springfields, Spalding, a pair of really comfortable trainer type boots, size 8, originally priced at £29.99, reduced down to £24.99, then £19.99, then £14.99, and when I went to pay at the till, the very nice young lady said, "That'll be £9.99 please." That'll do too (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I'm more concerned about using Sikaflex for windows!! What happens if they need to come out? As you say a roll of butyl mastic is the stuff. Never sets, never leaks. Brilliant stuff.

What concerns me is a panel van doesn't have a flat surface to fit a window against.
I don't see how a roll of say 4mm mastic can completely seal the window against the vans curvature.
If you weren't careful you could end up with gaps top and bottom. I have read this happens and people have had to seal around the gaps.
This is why i sourced the best sealant for the job which states it can be use on automotive applications.

There are reasons for not using Silicon of any type on vans--if you must use it then use a low Modula's natural cure one--at least that will stick to plastic--hi mod ones (vinigar-acetic acid ones)don't stay stuck to plastic.I can only advice it's your choice to heed or ignore:)

Non setting frame sealant should go here inboard of the ribbed rubber perimeter seal. Anything external is cosmetic and should be unnecessary

I much prefer this method to the roll of mastic.
At least you can thicken it out if required to get over the slightly curved side wall.

I take it this is a Seitz type window ?
I do like this type, But i am also trying to source a new type by Polyplastic ( polyplastic.nl/solutions )
They are making a new type of Aero window specially for van conversions.
This new type of window follows the radius of the van in a very elegant way :rolleyes: .....(y)

Trying to get hold of them is a different matter. I believe these windows fit into a rubber gasket which you fit first
and then batten out the inside and fix to this. Before anyone else jumps on me i said ......i think this is how they fit :)
By the sound of it this rubber seal is all that's required to make them water tight.
I haven't bought any windows for the van yet so i can only speculate on whats i need.
When i do fit them you will all be glad to know that they will be installed as per the manufacturers recommendations.

Thanks for all your help.....Ralph

Here you go Ralph
or search for both Polyplastic or polyvision windows ---Did you notice on your link no one use Silicon to seal around there windows ;):DForgot to say PP/PV windows have been around a very long time

Thanks Terry, Looks a right pain in the backside to fit. Have you got any contacts for the Polyplastic windows Terry ?
Better still have you got a contact for the new curved type for curved wall panel vans :p:p:p....................

Cheers.....Ralph ;)

Not this week but a couple of weeks ago, I bought some front mudflaps for the van ( Pug Boxer base) from Johns Cross.
Brilliant! The van stays so much cleaner now. If you haven't got some on the front of your van, I recommend you get some.
