THIS week I bought

Treated myself to some new tyres of the All Terrain variety as I’m sick of the terrible form ride of the Continental VancoCampers. Even the 2 mile journey home was a noticeable difference!

I will let you know once I’ve put a few 100 miles on them.

Ive had General Grabbers on my previous van (VWT5) and the mpg dropped slightly (1/2mpg) so nothing to worry about. Comfort is the main advantage and the need to not worry too much about the pothole ridden roads in case one jumps out on you!

Now that I have recovered from the beating I received off Swmbo for buying a new bike (see post #11215) I bought a TaylorMade cover for the new bike when on the MH and of course will also let her but her bike under it as well.

Took the plunge and went lithium on the van. So this week, I bought:

2x110ah lithium batteries
1x Victron Smart shunt
1x Victron MPPT Solar controller
1x Victron Ip22 charger
plus all fittings, cables and fitting.

As our second fire extinguisher has now passed its use-by date, we have bought a firestick which weighs a lot less, lasts for 10 years without any service requirements and seems to do all we’d expect of a fire extinguisher without the mess afterwards. Here is a video of it in action.

Every one seems to be copying me, I found 60 psi about right,

Oh, and also a Victron B2B charger.

Looks a really good job. How difficult was fitting it? The sheet in the photo shows only 1 page of 1. Are there more comprehensive fitting instructions provided?

Easy enough to fit, took about 3 hours for both doors. The instructions are not comprehensive, but along with common sense there are sufficient dimensions to complete the job.

Other irrelevant question: do you keep a defibrillator on the van?

Only when we go away in the van, otherwise it lives in the house as it's more accessible there.

A really good idea. Defibrillators are now affordable and a real life saver, not just for the carrier, but potentially anyone near you. I think I may get one and carry it with us when we travel.

A pair of Sumo Springs arrived yesterday and I fitted them to the vans front springs this morning. Hopefully, this will improve the handling of the front end as much as the semi air has on the rear end.
£40 cheaper than the UK stockist by ordering them directly from the USA.

As a byline, they took 10 days to arrive from the USA and I'm still waiting after 2 weeks to receive my order from Lloyds Pharmacy.

3 x rabies jabs for our pooches (£45 each) this morning, this afternoon I went to post some letters so of course had a quick mooch in the 'reduced' area of the fridge and came away with 4 x packs of twin mini Melton Mowbray pork pies, 2 x packs of twin sausage rolls and 2 x packs of twin leaks (little and large though not identical! :giggle:) ... the whole lot cost me £1.

A solar panel system from, and fitted by, Vanbitz.

To say it is a neat job is an understatement. Nothing is visible, except the panel itself. If it wasn’t for the fact that it is all working well I would have doubted that anything had been done.

We returned to Vanbitz after they fitted our Strikeback alarm six weeks ago as we were so pleased with the standard of workmanship/professionalism of the company.
