THIS week I bought

My house is all electric so not as simple as turning a boiler on

Is it "smart" to turn heating on ahead of your arrival if you don't know how much heat capacity the house needs to recover? How do you know how far ahead to start warming-up (unless you keep it at a reliable set-back temperature)? Or what if you forget to trigger it?

Nearly all automated systems keeps the thermostat at a reduced temperature in order to provide frost protection. Most allow you to set that temperature yourself rather than use the default temperature. We know from experience roughly how long ours takes to get back up to our preferred temperature.

We never know exactly what date we will be back from most trips but I can switch our Hive controlled water and heating on remotely from anywhere in the world that has internet access. That way we arrive to a warm house and hot water. If I forget then we arrive home to a cold house and no hot water, and I get a earful from my wife.

A soup maker. My word it’s good. Fling everything in and hey presto soup in 21 minutes. Also, bought a bread making machine to make bread to dip in the soup.

@Themselves thinking of etting a soup maker, have heard they are noisy, wonder if yours is and if not what make it is thanks in advance.

It’s a Morphy Richards 501014. It makes a little whirring noise occasionally as it chops up the ingredients but otherwise it’s quiet. It reduces the amount of washing up as instead of a mass of pans and blenders everything goes in together. Definitely recommend it.

Thanks for that am a big fan of soup especially in the winter off to have a look onine now

If you want something really flash, investigate Thermomix.
But you could enjoy a lot of restaurant meals for the price.

A few years ago my wife went to get me a piston pin clip for my enduro bike and came back with a Suzuki DR650(y)

Several years ago my friends husband went out to buy a new cooker. He came back with a music centre. She asked him if he expected her to put the chicken on the turntable and stand there with a blow torch.

We have been looking at putting lights up for a roll out awning, we usually just have led lanterns hanging about until now, we saw these on Amazon and thought just what we are looking for.

Amazon product ASIN B01N9CSGQ2

They were cheap, light & I could do with a set so........
And with judicious use of axle stands and known weights, will make a lovely set of balance scales too.. Multi purpose !

No, the price of getting forgetful in my old age.:(

Before we got the Hive I was getting an earful every time we returned home! :D2
We just got a few more bits for the hive and an echo. We can now control heating hot water lighting etc by voice and when we're away have the heating off until just before we get back (with frost protection) and an alert to our phones if the motion sensor is activated and the sensor automatically switches the lights on and a radio on upstairs.

That's helpful for 'Mr Burglar'... switching on the lights so he can see what he robs... and 'music to steal by' to make his work so much more enjoyable.
:D2

PS I have Hive/Echo too ;)
