This old shed turned up, slumming it I suppose.

This is our RV, it old but it's got 2 slide outs unlike those cramped old Morelo's.
I was a bit miffed when he turned up, I thought bugger he might bigger than me.

Just along from me on the Spanish site weve just left was a motorhome with an old phone stuck to the windscreen with sticky pads as a dashcam. Very frugal I thought however it was a newish Morello loft so perhaps could have afforded a proper dashcam

I know the thread was made in jest but in reality who cares what someone’s van is like, we all have more or less the same fun at the end of the day. Some are just more fortunate than others to have better vans..usually through hard graft or luck.
When we were deliberating whether to buy this van Jen said "will we have any better times than we do now?" the simple answer was no, but we did it anyway. Yes we are fortunate that we can have what we want but we could be happy in anything as long as we have our health.

Yes maybe very frugal but I always try to see the other end of the coin. Like so n so has a massive house they must be loaded, perhaps not but they have affordable debt.

Sometimes like why are folk freeloading if they can afford a top of the range van. Maybe it’s their choice to put all their money into their van therefore have nothing left for fancy Satnavs etc, no one knows each others circumstances, just a thought!

Yes OK  I should have said towards the end of about 5 years of research, basically when it started to look like the bank balance was going to suffer.
Got to give Andraus (? can never remember forgin names) full marks for patience with you.

Beautiful van but not for us , must be amazing to holiday in though , gorgeous .👍

Said it before, if we were into MHing like a lot on here we would seriously consider one of these or similar because we could, however, we are not so academic.
Personally i do love the look of them. Also not been inside one yet.
Those that do have them good on you.(y)

Saw a Morelo in Douro Valley - owners live about 15 miles from us in UK.

It was a lovely vehicle but I wouldn’t want one.

Same as yachts in the Mediterranean - up to 37’ is good for enough comfort and still being able to moor up in the little places. Getting over 40’ becomes a challenge and at 50’ it’s the Italians doing operatics when they can’t find anyone willing to take a rope from them.

All part of the fun though.

If I’m brutally honest, I love the Concordes, Morelos etc and I know I’ll never be able to afford to own one, BUT If I could, I’d have a sub 9M in a heartbeat, prob lean towards a 8.5!
I have a golden rule, one of my favourite Aires is at Dinkelsbuhl and if I can’t get a moho in there, I don’t want it (and I’m sure I could get a 8.5 Morelo in there😉😁😁)
As Said before good luck to those lucky enough to own one, and I’m sure there’s people further down the chain say the same about carthagos, frankia’s etc.
For some the continental style of van doesn’t suit them so they will have their British vans and good luck to those also, it doesn’t mean they’re any less happy with their choice, it’s exactly that…Choice👍

Old Shed? my backside!

We enjoyed our pre loved Concorde Charisma but the clock keeps ticking. Two medicals later we downsized to 3500kg (just) and have a moho for us and the occasional 2 friends. With the Concorde we frequently sat 12 inside arround the expanding table, which was good as the awning was so high up you needed a committee and ladders to attach the Safari room. On the upside we could get his and hers motorbikes in its garage via a ramp, a winch and a steady hand. . Today we tow a box trailer and just ride the bike and sidecar into it. Enjoy it all. Its YOUR choice. That is what motorhomes are about,

That's such an obvious question, I don't know why I didn't ask it myself ;) I would be interested in the answer though and it could prove to be a useful discussion for future readers who are thinking about taking the plunge.

The first van I owned cost me 1200. I saved for over a year and cancelled holidays so we could buy it for the kids and us. (3 boys under 8)

That first night playing games..walking round the site and fields..tucking them in and breakfast in the morning...priceless..

The van I have now for my lady an I.. is far more expensive and it really suits us but is considered a halfway house to my Morello in retirement ;)

But none of them will compare to the 1200 van.

Until our current ‘tiddler’ we always had RV’s normally 33’ - 36’ which garnered a lot of comments especially when filling with 300 litres of fuel lol

My stock answer was ‘They ALL do the same job’

And they do.

Some years ago we’d ordered a RV and someone made me a stupid offer for our existing one, which I took👍🏻 forgetting we had a wedding to go to and we had to use the van as there were no hotels for miles, but of course my wife remembered straight away!

As luck would have it, one of our customers asked if he could leave a motorhome in our car park as he‘d bought a new van and had no space, but, it won’t be for long as I’m selling it really cheap to get rid of it!

”How cheap?”

Cheap enough that I bought it, and paid £10k for it. Every quiet half hour the workshop guys had the were cleaning, steaming, fixing, replacing bits and bobs, so we soon had it quiet smart.

We went off parked in the field for the wedding and had a great few days, and even stopped off on the way home for a couple of nights

I couldn’t help but think about how much money the new camper was going to cost us, compared to our £10k one!

Obviously the new one eventually arrived from the States and we loved it, but it really did make us think.

I bet you turned a profit on the £10K one as well

When your fairy godmother asks about your retirement treat you need to be careful what you ask for, if you miss one "l" out you could end up with a great big luxury van that nobody wants ;)

" WHY " ,,Oh yes ,,Because it;s ( your Mo=Ho ) your own space ,in your own time .To stop or go is your own choice. Not regulated to hotel or motel rules & reg's.Not having to put up with second hand beds/sheets/towels etc.Poor canteen type food from a dubious kitchen !!
Since mo-homing from the early 70s )de-mountable on a Bedford CF/Jennings Roadranger/Autocruise Sunningdale, towing a Smart & now the " Concorde Charisma ") It;s a lifestyle !! imo .As has been said ,it's a matter of choice.Just love the "Charisma " as the Smart lives in the back, which gives added touring capabilities after parking up.As said again ,can't get the larger Mo-Hos every where.'horses for courses !!
