Bright sunny day here in Cheshire !

Have they done the sauna/jacuzzi as promised by Dame Penelope ?

There will be hell to pay if they haven't.

Hang in there, just keep singing "Three wheels on my wagon........".

Oh, you lot I am soooooooooo envious that I can't be with you. Hope you all have a wonderful wonderful wonderful time.....

Well, they have bungalows, Jerez airport is just up the road so it would be possible for people to have a week or two with us. I'm sure we'd manage a ferry service and maybe fill up with gas in Jerez at the same time.

Hey that's brill! How long are you staying there? Have you met the other funsters?

Hope Ant&Debs have got their wheel bearing problem under control! Do I hear a phone call to Duncan happening???

I very much doubt we'll have that this year - it's a project in the pipeline!! :Rofl1:

Well at least you've got the big plus of a fiver, you're still mobile to go and get parts.

Is it just bearings ? Or did it damage brakes and axle ?

there will be plenty of us heading down later if you require spares from the UK.

I'm sure one of us could fit the odd spare in for you. :thumb:

Oh dear! Just looked at your photo! :Eeek:

Will you be able to get the parts out there? If not I'm sure Duncan will be able to help!!

Hope life is looking better today!

Hi marie

The Uk importers are dealing with it, as its under warranty. It needs a complete new axle.

We managed to move the Unit on 3 wheels today on to a pitch ( No 3) as the lower pitches are better access for larger units.

Just got to wait for the axle to arrive now.

Ant & Debs

Glad you've got on to a pitch safely!

You say the lower pitches are better for bigger units?

There were huge German vans up at the top end last year - Concordes I think - it was very interesting watching then get on a pitch!!:Rofl1::Rofl1::Eek!:

Some really huge vans manage to wiggle their way around the site sometimes - think they must bend in the middle!

Anyway glad you are both OK! Enjoy Zahora!

See you soon!

Thanks for all the support, We were offered a large pitch 147 but because we are only on 3 wheels and did not want to do any further damage as the access road is bumpy.

We are 50 feet long when connected to the pickup so even getting on pitch 3 was fun with trees.

Have a good trip down.

Santander Parking.

Have we done this ?

I see we arrive at 13:00 so close to dark when we clear the port.

So we need an aire or site within an hour or so of Santander.

Any suggestions.

Just seen this on The Motorhome List forum, thought it may help.

We have parked along the front by the port in Santander with no problem, but it is noisy and I wouldnt leave the van.
We have also Parked in Suances down by the lighthouse, 20 mls from Santander, it has the most amazing scenery.

On Route.
Aranda del duero Campsite and Area de servico 110 mls North of Madrid
Camping Riaza 72 mls North of Madrid is now open all year, ACSI discount.
Aranjuez campsite 32 mls south of Madrid, ACSI.
Santa Elena , Camping despenaperros 162 mls south of Madrid.. ACSI and Camping & Caravanning Club, (has free wifi all over the site.)

Other Areas de servico (Aires) all over Spain can be found at
www.lapaca.org
www.areasac.es
www.asandac.org
www.espana-discovery.es (link in English, similar to France Passion).

I'm working out our route in finer detail - not before time some might say!!

Like Brian we don't want to be going too far on the first day - nothing worse than arriving at a strange campsite in the dark!!! I'll probably still be feeling sea sick anyway!

I've been looking at Santillana del Mar - a little village about ½hr drive from Santander. Campsite open all year - lovely little medieval village - we visited it once before but weren't camping so don't know the site.

Have any funsters stayed there?

Doesn't that look beautiful. A shame to stop just one dark night. I guess we could get there just before dark.

PS:

There's also a great big car park showing on google, maybe an aire. But campsite looks a bit awesome.

Thanks Keith, now bookmarked, thought that does not mean I'll ever find it again.

Sorted.

Subject to weather The Plan is:

16th Dec Santander to Santillana 22 miles.
17th Santillana to Caseres 347 miles.
18th Caseres to Zahora 260 miles.

Only problem being those two stops look very appealing.

Thanks for telling us that! We'll get the barricades up in Zahora on the 18th then!!:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

Our plan is similar except that we won't do 347 miles in one day - too much for us!
So we'll stop in Salamanca between Santillana and Caceres for one night.

Yes Brian, the stops do look attractive but we know what's waiting for us at the other end!!

28th Oct Santander to Santillana 22 miles
29th Oct Santillana to Salamanca 222 miles
30th Oct Salamanca to Caceres 128 miles
31st Oct Caceres to Zahora 260 miles

I am working very, very hard to see how I can upset you all and get down there and join in all the frivolous jollity.. :Eeek:

Even if it is just to upset "Jackomet" it would be well worth the trip..:Rofl1:
