to poltry gentlemen can dance around like a couple of light footed fairy`s as we do.. :Rofl1:

That's a fowl statement, I'm no fairy.

PS are we still on for behind the lighthouse Thursday night ?

The hilldwellers and Dame PP are booked on the Portsmouth/Plymouth Santander ferry. Then it's about 700 miles to the campsite. This ferry looks expensive at first glance, but it's very close to the real cost of Calais and the three or four day hike down France in the winter. It cuts out over 800 miles each way.

Hi, We have only been back from Spain since October, and we are already sick of the weather.

My question is; our motorhome is just over 7 meters long, according to the booking form for the Santander ferry, the length cannot exceed 6.5?

Does this mean this is the maximum length or do you have to telephone them to find out the cost?

Also do they allow dogs??

Old-mo is something like 50+'. Yes, seriously.

One with us has two dogs. Well she calls them dogs, our cats wouldn't bother chasing them.

Keep up at the back, Dame Penelope took charge of her Spanish territories weeks ago. There was a Spanish retaliatory invasion over the weekend but they repulsed them with no loss of British life.

Though it has to be said, Sir Rex used all the cunning learned in the steamy jungles of Burma against the fiendish Japanese, who accorded him the title Omigoshi, using tactics captured on video, he subjected the poor Spanish to an advanced sensory deprivation attack that makes waterboarding look like child's play. They will not return, well not for three generations. There will be repercussions for Sir Rex should the Court of Human Rights see the videos.

Not sure but I think you must have clicked on the wrong button..

Mine is over 9mtrs long and I also have a 4.88 mtr trailer.. making train weight of just under 14 mtrs, I had no problem..

If I remember rightly when you go through the booking on-line you will get to a list of vehicles, and on that list is (I think) Car.Van/M.H. or bus etc,, and once you have selected on the same section is a list of Heights.

Try again,, yes dogs are allowed. :thumb:

Looking forward to meeting you Eric and Margaret!

Weather will definitely be better than UK but don't expect it to be like summer down here - it is their winter after all!
We've been having lovely sunny days so fingers crossed it stays that way!

What sort of musical instruments will you be bringing?

You need a standard aerial co-ax cable about 10 metres with a male connector on one end and a female on the other.

Hi
We went to inspect this site in winter 2008. Hard pitches excellent. Some grass pitches were very new and our friends sunk down to the axle. Also, all the site is shaded except for a few grass pitches at the far end. However, all the other facilities were very good. Short walk to view Trafalgar. We wish we could join you but have to work for one year yet. See you next winter.
Andrew
PS we stayed in Conil just up the coast. 400 Euros in 2008! No TV and poor Wifi.

We have been coming here since Dec 2008. We've all had experience of sinking into the sand but it is no big deal as the staff are great at rescuing you!:thumb::thumb:

This year they are laying hard standing in the form of 2 rows of stone slabs on each pitch - very effective!:thumb::thumb: Most pitches now have these and they are doing more each day.

As it is so quiet in the winter it is possible to move your chairs to a sunny pitch when the sun leaves your own pitch! We always find the sun when we want it!

The Spanish Job

Hello all

We've been enviously watching this post as we were not due to travel to Spain until March because of Grandparent duties (we've got a booking with Brittany ferries). It looks like we can alter it to January now and would love to join you. What do we need to do? If that would be ok.:thumb:

mmm quite a turn up if everyone arrives

maybe the lady P and company should display a disclaimer in favour of the general British motorhomer, just incase the local Spanish think we are just too mad.
in English
Please Note
not all British motorhomers get up to the antics that that this group might do
dont mess with the wrinklies

and in Spanish
Observe por favor
no todos los motorhomers británicos se levantan a los numeritos que ese este grupo pudo hacer

no ensucie con los wrinklies

:Rofl1::Rofl1::thumb:

would like to be there but not allowed lol will be a few more years yet

Just get your ferry booked!!!:thumb::thumb:

Let me know ( by PM if you like) your names - when you expect to arrive and how long you will stay (ish!!) I'll add you to the list.
It is a VERY informal meet - no organisation about it! Just funsters camping in the same place really!
Look forward to meeting you.

Spain

Hi PP
I will be arriving in Pinar San Jose on Thursday 6.1.11 probably late afternoon.
Will be using Sat Nav all the way so hope the roads are good and free from snow etc. Was going to do just 1 stop after Santillana but decided to do 2 after Santillana ie Camp Regio & Caceres then San Jose.
What is the weather like there at the moment and how many MH's are there - just for interest.
MH is a Dethleffs, -8m long x 2.65m high and I will need a electric hook up, which I guess is no problem, also bringing my bicycle which I thought was a good idea.
I have a Sat dish, which I was intending to bring - is this a good idea?
Someone recommended purchasing an internet dongle for access. I have a wi-fi laptop, is this necessary?
Hope you don't mind the questions - see you in January 2011.
Gaudie (Gordon)

Brilliant idea, when the going gets tough you'll be able to barter it for some extra long wellies.

WiFi and Satellite both free on site.

Campsite nr santander

It time to get serious on this one folks.

Our glorious leader Dame Penelope Pitstop OBE MBE BSc MA and Bar has declared this

THE MEET OF MEETS

No other meet in the History of FUN has attempted and offered SO MUCH.

The campsite is: http://www.campingpinarsanjose.com/

http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll...23046&t=h&z=16

http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll...,42.33,,0,9.47

€300 buys you A Whole Month of pitch, electricity, Wifi, UK TV and fabulous facilities. Partly designed by Dame Pitstop herself, allegedly when sober.

The site is family owned and run and they have listened to all PP's suggestions for attracting FUN people there in their quiet season. Hence the UK TV, lounge and hopefully the steamroom/sauna will be ready when we get there. The usual facilities, good supermarket, washers etc are established, the outdoor pool might be a bit empty. Dame PP has personally trained the owners to treat the British in the manner to which we are accustomed. She constantly reminds them that Trafalgar is a short walk from the campsite and that we British are not to be trifled with.

The position is about as far south as you can get without swimming so it's our best shot at a warm cheap winter.

To get there, go south.

We are thinking of a longer way round for the return in 2011, into Portugal ( 100 miles ), up Portugal then across Green Spain on the old Santiago de Compostela pilgrims route back to Santander.

Any more information needed post here. If it's of an "adult" nature the PM Dame PP personally and she will no doubt be able to offer suggestions for your special needs.

The hilldwellers leave on Dec 15th, if anyone wants to tag along, speak up, it worked for The Italian Job.

Anyone wanting to go earlier the they may be able to follow Dame PP, at a suitable distance of course.

Hi
I have tried several sites near Santander (Santillana del Mar etc) but they have not replied to 3 e mails or a telephone call. Do you have any suggestions for a campsite nr Santander please?
Gaudie
