The Simpson's Spanish Raid

According to Auto Express if you have a bulk standard engine, use standard fuel, and every 1000 miles or so fill up with a Super/ Premium fuel, this applies to petrol and Diesel vehicles to desoot /clean up engine they say pointless always using high grade fuels unless you have a high performance vehicle.
I do not agree with Auto Express then.

So here we are in Seville and as cyberyacht predicted, at Puerto Gelves. A nice port with all the services for €20 a night. Had some lovely food too, in a restaurant in the same port.

Today we arrived at Monesterio, a small town in Badajoz. We are at a free area with all the services provided by the local council and there is a large Spar supermarket next door. It's a bit dirty here to be honest, but quiet and secure, so we'll stay the night and continue tomorrow to Mérida.

I do not agree with Auto Express then.
Just as an FYI, Diesel Bob (Diesel Injection specialist) told me the same thing as Auto Express when he re-calibrated the pump on my Mitsubishi Delica for me.

I don't agree with Bob either.

We got up early this morning for an early start as it seems we have been too relaxed and might not make our appointment with the gas guy in Galicia. So today we have travelled 160km, we didn't stop in Cáceres (we probably will on the way back down) or Plasencia. Tomorrow we will not stop at Salamanca either because I think we need at least 2 days there to really appreciate it, so that'll be another for the return journey. So we have stopped in Béjar, Castilla y León, for lunch and the night. A free area provided by the local council, that includes fresh water, grey and black emptying and bins but no electricity. It's very nice, level and peaceful and there are another 15 or so motorhomes already. I imagine more will arrive later. On arrival it was still raining but this afternoon the sun is shining again.

Puebla de Sanabria, Zamora today. It's one of only 5 CCP sites in Spain right now and certainly is not the most beautiful area, but for €5 a night you get fresh water and black and grey disposal and wifi (albeit slow), so not all bad. The surrounding area is fantastic, with a river just 50 metres away.

162km later we are in the province of Ourense, Galicia in a small town called Cenlle. We have stopped at a free motorhome site with all the services, thanks once again to the local authorities, and a chirringuito that serves fantastic churrasco (bbq pork ribs) and Ribeira wine created by the Mayoress apparently. Right next to the Miño river in the middle of nature.

We are now in Ribeira, La Coruña, Galicia in time for our gas installation appointment tomorrow. We are in a lovely site for motorhomes that has recently opened here. As the weather is not so good, I'll save the photos for tomorrow so you can appreciate this place. Meanwhile here are a couple just so you see that you cannot see anything as the clouds are ground level.

How do you manage to cook that in the van, Barrie? Do you prepare something at home first? I'm curious about it
We buy the confit duck legs in Mercadona, already confitado and only needing heating up. The potatoes are freshly made in the air fryer and the sauce is a pimped up version of one we bought in a supermarket (I don't remember which) I add some soy sauce, fish sauce (or Worcestershire sauce if no fish sauce), honey, salt and whatever I fancy at the time. It's a question of what ever you feel like. I normally make it all up as I go along and no two recipes are the same, been doing it for many years now. Nobody has yet died from my cooking, so I guess I do ok.
