So as per the title I recently bought a new to me van that had been parked up in an open fronted barn for the last 12 years .

Being a quality built van it has faired not too bad overall but it's filthy , it's had mice and other critters using it for nests, they've obviously done some damage and some other items have rusted, siezed , or just stopped working due to not being used .

Those who followed my "moby goes to Turkey " thread will be aware of the issues mentioned to date. For those new to this thread I will list the faults that were found that we have already repaired etc.

But first a few photos of "Doc_Do_Little" Doc for short as he looked when I bought him .

It may be quite a challenge you have Tam, but that's going to be a brilliant New Home for you and the pups, I am looking forward to following your progress, with a bit of help from your friends hands on and virtually.

Look forward to reading about restoring the van back to its former glory it looks a cracking looking van will be even better when you have done what needs doing to it Tam.Just take your time and don’t panic, with what you have done to previous vans you can do it with the help of you friends on here 👍

Love the layout of the front part and the van looks in good condition all things considered. I would change the blue upholstery to a lighter colour although I do like blue. The woodwork is gorgeous, soo rich and warm.

Anything that has been nibbled can be put right and you are the man to do it!!

For my to do lists I use spread sheets
Easy to highlight in colours , alter , and add too

As for the generator the engine is most likely good
The Carb could be chocked with the ethanol in modern fuels
It blocks all the passages in the carb & can be very difficult to clear
As previously said a cheap Chinese carb should be ok
If the engine is gooshed I have a spare one here you can have (free)

So remember no more “ calimero “ moments 😉

Only positive energies from now on
