The resurrection of Doc, bringing a 20 year old neismann Bischoff Flair back to life after 12 years off road.

I just wanted to give it an initial charge for now.

I will probably remove the charger and fit a lithium suitable one later as a back up but once solar and b2b is fitted I'm hoping I never need to use it.

And of course once I check out the generator I'll have to work around that too.
I used a ctek charger on gel to do my first charge so to 85% then let solar do the rest.

Like you (& uncle Lenny HB ) I'm never on hook up so I've not fitted a lithium charger on my new van instead relying on solar and B2B and have switched off the inbuilt charger set to gel but if absolutely necessary I can use that once in a blue moon to get some charge in if it got very low. Did same on last van with non issues and only used once in 5 years.

My sister bought a motorhome at the beginning of this year.
It had had a hab check the day before she bought it.
Paperwork said the gas appliances had been checked and worked fine and were safe.
She got the van home and found that the fridge and fire didn't work on gas.
The dealer hadn't demonstrated these to her because the van didn't have a gas bottle.
When contacted the dealer claimed that the appliances were fine when tested and that the hab check guy brought his own gas bottle with him.
And a very good point.

Incidentally I read Gingernuts thread on here the other day and he bought his new van from a well recommended dealer on here , it had no gas bottles in it either . I was going to ask if it had a recent hab check etc.

I can't believe dealers sell vans of that value with no gas bottles etc in them

At least with moby it has gas and water In it ready to show any potential buyers everything working in it and i mean everything bar the outside step which does work but needs fettling as its temperamental. But all gas appliances work and work well .

It's a great bloody van .

That’s exactly the point of habitation check like an MOT only gives you one day that it actually works – that’s of course as long as it hasn’t been to that garage in Wales where a course they didn’t do anything.

Incidentally Tam did you ever do anything about that garage and the bill for the Cambelt change?

It’s just taken me another hour to read through since this morning you lot are so busy tapping away on your computers or phones or whatever you use.

Sadly, we are definitely not like you. We used to pay to have habitation checks and warranty checks done on all our motorhomes because neither of us Are mechanically minded. But we do check our cars with oil and our tires and make sure the basics are done the rest we pay someone else to get done however not having a motorhome now we only have to contend with the car.

Very similar, bought new to us last year from main dealer as they had what i wanted at money i wanted.
Hab checked etc, even demo'd but i did rush the lad as i wanted to get going. Anyways gets it home and started checking things over, fridge not working on 240, oven hard to light, one gas ring not staying lit.
Hab check not worth sh*t lol

Judging by the number of threads that hes started Id say the handover was minimal and Gingernuts is now getting to know what wrong with his new van

I have the same 300amp fogstar battery it's been perfect for over a year. I upgraded to a DC+DC charger and my solar has lithium setting. When it arrived it was 50% charged I was concerned about changing my main 'charger' but I resisted as the solar and DC-DC take care of it..,no more EHU however in an emergency I could hook up and use 'mains charger'. Basically Tam could you hold out until you get your solar!

D
I've never bought a van with a hab check and never had one done since my frankia as most of the time the one doing it is a clown. The few folk on here that get them done is because of a warranty

This is a 26 year old motorhome that is far from original. I can only see problems letting any so called professional near it.

P.si just bought a van that the fridge didn't work and the gas system was incomplete 😂😂
And a duff Mot😂

It's also worth noting I've had around 10/12 people express interest, ask to view ,a few even made offers but NONE will actually speak to you on the phone.

That just tells me folk aren't genuine.

The guy who made the offer last night I ended up phoning him .

He was so clueless it was unbelievable.

When he said they'd pay a deposit if I guaranteed to refund it if they didn't buy it I just gave up . That was after them making an official offer through ebay.

At the minute I've no interest in going back and forth to Wales for potential timewasters . It's hours of driving and it puts Just smiffy out having to drive Me. And it's costly in fuel.

It isn't the best situation the van being so far away from me.

If I get someone who is willing to chat on the phone ,seems genuinely interested and knows a bit about a motorhome and then wants to view it I'd be more inclined to travel up there . But I just get a feeling none of the folk interested so far are my buyer .
Your ad is beginning to sound like SCAM the way you say no hab check no viewing not here.
Have not read all thread but 250miles away, Is it a runner.

When having any work done at our preferred dealer (Fiat Professional)every time they do a safety check of everything like a pre TUV test it’s most reassuring so when I come home for my MOT test I don’t have to hold my breath,I think I still do though. IMG_0342.jpeg

🤣😄You must have shaky fingers Tam with all that work you’ve been doing, you’ve put two noughts on the end.
Joking aside Paul I want to stick that fridge on gumtree for spares or repair as I think it might be of use to someone for parts . I'll put it back together and stick it on gumtree and see how it goes over the next week or 2 . If it doesn't sell then I'll get back to you about shelves.

I'd like to get some money back in for a bit as I'm hemorrhaging it here at present.

Trying to sell that a frame that came with the camper too

Ok that’s fair enough, the shelves do look in better condition than mine.

That's one less advisory next year . Filled sealed inside and out and painted. Should be good now.

Got another wheel to clean up and paint now and will be kept as a spare.

Tried a bit of panel wipe on the white underside of van ...it cleans off the underseal so who knows if I'm bored I might clean all that up later ,although I think the centre section would be impossible

Yeah it was all in good condition visually just doesn't get cold . But the burner, electronics etc and inside. Doors etc all good so might be worth something to someone . If not I'll strip off the good bits and advertise the parts and skip the rest

This is the first time I've really replied on one of your threads Tam. So here goes...

I too hate selling stuff on ebay. But it's a necessary evil to sell stuff. I sincerely hope you sell Moby quickly and can get the new van to where you want it.

I agree, I wouldn't want to hab test a van before seeing it in the flesh first. Then that's something I'd think about if I didn't know anything at all about vans. However, after reading stuff on here and having three years experience I'd do the checking myself. I also have a high mistrust of specialists and dealers.

Got to say some of your posts I disagree with, some I wholeheartedly agree with. They can piss me off, or make me laugh in equal measure.

But on the whole I enjoy followling them.

At the end of the day we can't change who we are. So keep it up!

Ideal one for sale on here . (y) see the OP:giggler:
After 33 years and Duncan 81 we decided it was time to stop. We loved what we did but although we both voted for Brexit, we didn’t like the 90/180 day bit that happened without it working both ways!!! We used to go end April for 8 weeks and spend summer on THSITES and leave again for 8 weeks end August.

Now I read Tams trips, and happy with that. Cost for insurance with poor health was biggest reason though

Is that silver or primer? going to be silver hopefully ;)
It's grey plastic primer.

I'm afraid they're going white Martin .. I don't like them in silver.

I will possibly get them done again in Morocco depending on whether the front cap polishes up or if I need to get it painted.

In other news I cannot get the lock on the generator door to open .. already damaged one key trying . Have wd40'd it over 2 days now and it's either siezed or I don't have the right key.

I also can't get the locks on the fiamma door security locks to operate.

🤷‍♂️

I may have to drill the lock out the generator and fit a new one .

Where's the "oh dear" emoji when you need one  white won't be the same white as the van so will just look like a bit of a mismatch rather than a contrast, not to mention original, your van though so crack on ;)

Ach sometimes original isn't the best . The silver on these look ridiculous. Even if they hadn't needed painting I'd have colour coded them . At the minute you're correct it won't be a matching white . But once I'm In Morocco an having paintwork done it will be 👍

For now anything will look better than they were
