The Jumar's at no. 32 go on holiday (From Spain to ????)

Hi Martin and Judith, good to read you are travelling again, we had all of June in the Rockies in a hired motorhome and have just had 2 weeks along the Rhine and Moselle with other friends and planning Provence trip in September. Are you guys still in Totana or have you moved elsewhere, we are planning to do the usual Winter trip so hope to see you plus a few others. Now got a lighter road bike, yipeeeeee, am now able to overtake old ladies!
Enjoy the travels and good fishing.
Terry and Sue

Hello you two.

Are we honoured as being your first post on FUN .

Glad all went well with your op and your trip to Canada. We'll be in Totana this winter and really look forward to meeting up with you again. When are you expecting to get to Totana?

Have been following Keith and Sue on Facebook and look forward to meeting with them again also as well as the usual crew.

We're now in Sweden not far from a place called Orebro, sort of central between Oslo and Stockholm ;) and just past the northern part of Lake Vanern. We've had a bike ride and are now sheltering from the wind on the edge of an unused football pitch at the village of Garphytan (this info is of absolutely no use to anyone, I know:LOL:).

Yet another photo of a cycling Martin and a lake :D.

We're heading to the Baltic Coast and some of the many islands, maybe including a trip to the island of Oland. Apparently the wildlife, especially birdlife, is good there and some of them will be gathering for their winter trip south.

Before it gets too windy I'm going to see I might go to see whether there are any blueberries to pick for Martin's dessert after dinner.

Hi Judith, you are definately spoiling Martin, next he will want grapes and trodden into that alcholy stuff. We anticipate being in Totana at the start of January for a bit of walking and cycling and catching up with the crew.
I think Sue and Keith have been in Provence so we will contact them to get the info on the area before we go.
I hope you manage some birdwatching along the way.
Terry and Sue.

Like your avatar @walkinthepark .

Looking good.

By the way Keith and Sue, Ros and Norman and Martin and I have now all got electric mountain bikes so you'll still be at the back :cycle:. We'll wait for you, honest >:).

We had a mountain bike ride first thing (on the trail by 9.00). Our "blue" route (moderate) turned out to be a "red" route (difficult) but we managed to ride 99 percent anyway and it took us on some lovely single track trails.

We stopped to check out some strange "buildings". They were the Swedish version of a shelter hut.

And with a log burning stove inside would be a welcome "port in a storm".

We're now in striking distance of the Baltic Coast but tomorrow's weather forecast is not good.

We're parked near a lake, with bike and walking trails, but will probably not get the chance to use them.

There are people in the water and on the rock above!

Baltic coast....could be a little fishing coming my way....I believe it's a good place for man and rod....well let's see what's out there....any advice on bait, lure types for those who have been this way?

We're now almost at the Baltic Coast. A matter of gravel roads stopped us proceeding, cos it was raining at the time as well. We're paying for tonight's stop :Eeek:. Have had a cycle ride (windy but dry), had a real, power shower (choice of hand held or overhead shower, or both!!!), are plugged into leccy and bike batteries are recharged, have eaten and had a small drink and Martin is now off to catch tomorrow's dinner .

Within the next few days I WILL see the archipelago.

Church and odd structure. Haven't yet found out why!

Apples scrumped from a tree alongside the track on our cycle ride. Mrs @Hagstrom (our crumble maker) has left so poached apples will be the best I can do :(

#sorebelliesexpected

Mrs Hagstrom says there's nothing holding you back from making the crumble. She left you some flour specifically for that purpose!

But how do I cook it, I cook it, I cook it?

Just how do I cook it, without an OVEN!!!???

Had a great day today. Weather perfect, sunny and no wind. Cycled to the local archipelago of Fyrudden. We went along the "busy :D" road to get there, with a few small off road detours.

And returned partly via the "road" we were approaching along yesterday. 21km of gravel and corrugations.

This is the road we'd have been on. Imagine 21km of cutlery drawer accompaniment .

Martin checking out a road junction!

Great for cycling though (y).

We passed a lake

IMG_20180813_131026.jpg

And a house in a pretty location.
IMG_20180813_141639.jpg

Before arriving back for another lovely shower and two washing machines working as I type to get us back to being "sociable" again :LOL:.

Martin's :reel: whilst I wait to transfer the washing to the driers (helped by a cooling GnT, the waiting, that is), then salmon for dinner (bought, not caught).

Moving on tomorrow, and rain forecast :(.

Well, yet again the forecasters were spot on and the rain started during the night. We travelled south, checking out some parking spots, but they were all pretty depressing, especially in wet weather.

However, we did have a successful shop at Västervik, a veritable metropolis in the last few days of tiny shops. Martin went into a Swedish Biltema and I won the draw for Lidl .

We looked at the motorhome parkings at Västervik and drove on. We found a spot of Park4Night that was a new entry. We expected a gravel road cos it's at the far end of a headland and on an island. Deciding to have a recce we were surprised by a tarmac road all the way here.

We are here ...

IMG_20180814_130111.jpg

And Martin has been fishing and almost caught "one that got away".

From our parking. Grey skies and grey seas :(.

IMG_20180814_160720.jpg

And the fishing spots. He is in there, somewhere :D.

If anyone want to join me for pre breakfast fishing my exact location is on the map.Screenshot_20180814-163608.png

Thanks Sandra......what I need is just a short 2.7m sit on....fully equipped for sea fishing....rod holders, compartments for live bait......dry compartments....etc....I plan to visit a specialist shop in Murcia when I get home....hope to use on Murcia coast and during the summer on the fjords of Norway or the sea......that's my plan...let's hope it works....

I notice you have failed to mention anywhere to store the 'catch'?:giggler::giggler:

Actually ..... yesterday, one of the Biltema purchases was a new net

I don't know if I mentioned it before but he "lost" his previous one .

If you must know....I accidentally kicked it........in a fjord.....early morning fishing comes at a cost.....

Martin had a (couple of) early morning fishing session(s). And I stood around and took a few photos.

Then (courtesy of Park4Night) I found a parking area at an old village. The village of Stensjö which has been kept to the old ways by the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities (a bit of a mouthful). The area is now farmed by one family and you can wander around free of charge. A feature of this area is the fencing, which runs for many, many, kilometres.

There's a lovely booklet (also free of charge) in various languages that tells the history of Stensjö.

There are buildings that can be entered (denoted by a key). One of these was the museum.

From Stensjö we had an aborted try at a stop on a small marina (no parking/camping ... how could they!!!) so we are now at a marina in a nearby village. SEK150 with leccy, toilets and showers and access to a place to fish (very important (y))

Would you live in a house like that and be happy about motorhomes parking in your view?

Different places, different outlooks. (In more ways than one!)

How many fish has Martin caught on this trip ?[/QUOTE

Bit below the belt that Robert ....if you must know..... sufficient(n)....which is more than last year.....I am slightly below my fish quota....but up on my wine quota, thanks to @jumartoo (y)
It's not only the catching but the taking part...as in most sports and pastimes, as you well know.
Off again in a couple of hours....this Camperstop, chosen by @jumartoo comes with fishing options....but not necessarily fish.:reel:

We'd researched a mountain bike area at a village some 30km away. Never knowing what terrain were going to find ourselves in, both driving the van and riding the bikes, we had a pleasant drive (all on tarmac) to a small hamlet just outside the village of Blomstermäla where there was a good parking area and map boards for both biking and walking (even orienteering!!!)

We had a good ride, couldn't do every part of it when it got too rough and rocky, but that was only a tiny percentage of the whole route and when the red route was joined by a black route. The standard went up to black!!!

This part was the red route proper.

And you can see why there's a high fire risk
This is Sweden!!! Funnily enough the barbecue ban was lifted at 12 noon today o_O.

We're now on the island of Öland, armed with enough info for a month! But we've got about a week before we need to think of heading over to Germany to drive through to Holland and the ferry from the Hook to the UK.

Anyway, back to Öland.

We're parked here for tonight.

Which is why it is called "fishing" and not "catching". :)

In the evening we had a stroll to the sea. The bridge we travelled across (free to pass) is somewhere in the background.

There's a LOT of this growing. It doesn't seem to have been stunted by the dry conditions. Any use for anything???
