The Italian Job 2010

there also appears there could be some confusion of which approach to use

Who am I to argue with the lines drawn on the map by them ?

Confirmed with Google Streets showing a camping sign exactly matching the route they show.

Of course this could all be a froggie plot to confuse the roast beefs.

Price is pretty much irrelevant, anyone who keels over at a possible €6 difference should not be going, they are in for much bigger shocks than that. Some may get on the aire but ten or so might be a tall order.

I can't believe how good Google Streets is doing this research.

Hi, Brian

Hi, Brian
Just trying to update with some additional information that I thought some people may of found useful.

Sorry if I'm being a bit prickly but I spent hours gathering that data and you post "just guessing". All you added was confusion.

Here you can find the price list I quoted, I do admit €8 seems too cheap but it's of no consequence.

Metz actually looks worth more than a one night stand, maybe some will return that way.

If Metz is a nice spot we may stay over an extra night and you can catch up with us

I've never been, which is why I searched and searched on it and what I saw looked pretty good. The camping is right in the middle of a serious ancient town. It's got the lot including boat trips on the Moselle. Free WiFi across the town is the town planners decision.

Hi,

Yes you do sound a bit prickly, the information I posted was just intended to help, if you feel that it was some sort of criticism then I apologize, but it certainly wasn''t intended to criticizes. The just guessing was in relationship to the possible two entrances not everything I wrote.

For the first time I've got a proper look at Camping Michaelangelo.

Type:

N 43° 45' 42" E 11° 16' 6"

Into Google maps. You can just make out the entrance and camping sign on street view.

Web site says €14 a night - I thought it was a lot more ?
AH - plus €10 per person.
Ah-ha - Well another page says just €14 for camper incl 2 persons.

3 weeks today - better be close to the docks !!

Those are just 25 low res pics allowed on here. The real deal is infinitely better.

3 weeks today - gob smacked looking at Mt Pilatus.
3 weeks Friday - just beginning the Italian experience.

All the Lucerne crowd look at this web site and plan if you fancy a visit in advance. There's a lot to pack in in just a day and a half. Note that we'll get about 1.5 francs to the pound.

You can get by on Euros and CC.

We got some francs to buy some crepes and found the seller spoke perfect English and would accept Euros. Probably not at a very good rate. ATMs within walking distance. I can't remember if the camp shop accepted CC or Euros. Anyway probably better to go shopping in France or Luxembourg.

Italian job dates

Hi,

What dates are you guys going to be at each site in ITALY?????????

The weather is an average of 28 with clear blue skys! here in the DOLOMITES

see you all soon!

Jan & Pat:Wink:

We are also heading down to Italy but setting off on 9th May so will be a day ahead of you. Metz is a nice city and well worth a stroll round stayed on the campsite last year as the Aire was full - looked as though some of them were there for the whole summer. We are heading to Sicily but may bump into you enroute as we intend to visit Florence either on the way out or back, no other definite plans apart from Pompeii. There's as acsi site just south of Colmar that we might use as our first stop.
Anyway have a great trip

I wish you all a wonderful trip..............
............ and hope you all have good brakes. :Rofl1:

Thank you. Your turn next.

But if there's any hint of brake problems then no chance of getting as far as Italy. No great hardship passing on to the Great Aire In The Sky in Switzerland, after all, many people go their to pass away peacefully.

Hi,

Don't mention brakes we are going to try the toll free route through Austria and it looks like it could be hilly :Rofl1:

Hope to see you all at Butterfly, have a safe trip.

Well we already have in here, both me and haganap have had a fright when seeing the state of our pads.

Take it easy down those hills.

See you in Butterfly, not Garda

Banner will be posted tomorrow Brian. I'd like to wish all of the funsters on this trip a safe and uneventful journey. Beware of flaming arrows, hee hee.

More streets.....

Into Luzern follow the lake looking for the Verkerhaus signs - motor museum and see this..

Note railway on left and overhead trolly bus lines.
Then turn for museum here

http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&t...9.3&ll=47.054012,8.334441&spn=0,0.002411&z=19

Carry one a few hundred metres, just past LIDO and you are there.

http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&t....71&ll=47.050852,8.336552&spn=0,0.004823&z=18

See...

Last Streets....

Metz is going to be a test of navigation....

Once on to Pont des Morts we can't hang a left due to a one way system, so carry on noting the campsite sign on the one way road keeping to the left, then first left into another one way road then first left again back on to Rue Pont des Morts. NOW we can hang a right into the camping.

Looks logical here:

http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=49.12119,6.16796&spn=0.002619,0.006866&z=18

Here is the nearest Streets, the white car is coming out of the aire/camping but I don't think we can turn in legally.

Failure is not an option.

Dead easy really, we're all going to follow you.

I've lost the plot now, but I think one of us might be there the day before, carrying 10 large towels.
