Nice one. Now don't go wearing yourselves out before you get to Luzern. We want party animals not wrecks.

Italian job

Hi,
Been watching this thread since it's inception last year. We have planned to do the same route as we did last year, which is almost the same as is planned. However, we much prefer Lago Maggiore and find Garda a bit like Butlins. We are due to leave the uk on 16th of May by Norfolkline. I shall keep a note of the itinery and we will call in at ''butterfly'' but we won't be staying. Nothing against anyone but we have always done our own thing and except for shows, rallying abroad with a group of fellow brits just ain't quite me. Best of luck with your trip. Oh by the way look on the Verona website there are some excellent Operas in their Collesium which are quite memorable and you can book your tickets online (£27 for excellent seats) and it is only 45km from garda, also there are three sostas in Verona at 10euros per night:thumb::thumb:

Cheers............................. Ned

Hi,

Has anyone else checked theirs?

S.

PS YIPPEE - GOT VAN BACK, finally:BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin:

Have Peter's mob done a good job ?

Yes, they've done a great job!
They will be on NEC next week on fiamma stand they told me, so popping in for the day on my way to Bradford for the weekend,

Hi

For those of you thinking of going on to Florence after Butterfly, do you have any Campsites in mind?

We have seen Camping International Florence but its a bit pricey at £26 pn even with ACSI.

Bill

Hi Bill

I think that Camping Michaelangelo was mentioned as a stopping place in Florence.
Can't find any pricing for it at the moment, but I don't think it is cheap.

Can be bought at the border but I've chosen to get it out of the way now.[/QUOTE]

Hi Brian, I've been off site for a bit coping with mum in hospital with broken hip . We will be moving her out of her flat and into a home she has chosen. So we are going to be rushing about over the next weeks.
1 Swiss vignette. We are over 3,5 tons so do we get ours at the border?
Do you know if we need Swiss francs for that?
2 We want to go to Florence with you and then the itinerary meeting up with friends at Diano Marina? Do we need to book any sites?

Really looking forward to it and can't wait to see the Swiss mountains.
Lucille

Florence is a big problem not a whole lot of options as far as I can see. We've never camped there so open to all suggestions. Michelangelo is the closest, walking distance for the fit. It's on the ACSI DVD but not discounted and says €36/€47.50.

Camping International is on ACSI DVD at €15 up to the 28th which fits the original plan. Trouble is it's way out of town though it looks a nice enough site.

Same group, lovely setting:

Anyone got any preferences ?

Camping Intl website says its only 3K from town centre & there is a bus.

Might be the best option - especially if there are 4 or 5 of us. Could do a dealio!

Also looked at Pogetto but that is 20ks away.

Bill

Hi guys

We are happy to go with the majority decision, always thought that Florence might be the most expensive part of the trip. As long as there is public transport available we are ok with whatever is decided.

Brisey (Brian & Pam)

Agree with Brisey on this. Happy to fit in as long as there is public transport to get into town.

You will have buy at the Swiss border. I guess it will be Swiss francs or maybe CC, better to have some francs then you can enjoy a crepe by the lake.

I'm not booking anything after Butterfly. Just play it by ear.

Just spent the whole afternoon sorting and copying the swiss vin thingy, insurances ect
Still no pain no gain

Getting exiting now !

We will be taking our bikes so 3k from florence no prob for us but happy to go along with the group

They lie about the distance. It's 6k, just measured it twice.

But that's nothing, it does look a nice site and it's in ACSI at €15, which means we eat FOC compared to Michelangelo.

Have you got good legs ? It's 6k and it's hilly round there. Plus where do you park your bike safely ?

That's fine by us Brian, for the information of others it's site number 1713 on page 670 of the ACSI book. Pam found a customer review on another site where it stated that it was a 30 minute bus journey into the centre of Florence. Only one bus needed, 5 - 10 minute walk to bus stop, tickets available at the campsite.

Brisey (Brian & Pam)

Agreed. International seems good. But we can discuss it over a vino or 3 at Butterfly.

That's how it should be done.

And if we 3 or 4 then we might decide to go via Sicily.

I assume you are talking bottles. We have a FUN reputation to keep up. And I've seen your pictures, 90% show you valiantly holding a glass.

It's looking good. We like Italian buses, cheap and exciting.

A great suggestion:thumb:, could be the highlight of the whole trip.:Rofl1:

we might decide to go via Sicily.

That means we will have to have a few more vino's and find another campsite.:Doh::Doh:

Italians know how to drive only one way - fast.

If it's a bus and the passengers are hanging on by their fingernails then so much the better.

Where else can you get so much fun for Euro ?

Book us in for the vino !!
