The Big Lorry to Camper Conversion

tacr2man what truck is that in your pic? Don't think I've ever seen one before

Its a Mowag Bucher Duro 6x6 8.6 MAM , Ive had one for about 3 months bit more HD than my previous American RV :) MANGOFORTH . They are ex mil and not that many about . 24v 6cyl Cummins 5.9 , with a Allison auto 5 speed constant 6wd dual range gearbox . Busy converting atm .
this is how they start off

I showed the boss the rear shot and she asked why there's a window handle on the outside of the bi-folds?

Fair point, well made!
A very good point! Not only is it pointless, It also stops the window from opening properly ?. It's to be removed and plated over ?

The actual reason it has a handle like that is due to its previous life. It was made as a demonstration of a bi-fold door, not a window, shrunk down to a size that could fit in a van. That way it could be carted to exhibitions and such.

I dunno about you but I hate deleted posts. They leave me anxious, wondering what might have been written that's so bad that someone had to delete it, rather than editing it

Yeah I'm the opposite of mini-me at 6'7"??

Shouldn't need a ladder washing the van when your touring then. :whistle2:

These are a good tool if Pneumatic air is not available- Lazy Tongs.

Just found this thread, great project! I quite like the aluminium walling, it reminds me of the old Airstream campers/caravans ... do you have to cover it with paint etc? Not doing so would save you a lot of dosh and it would look really cool as it is!

The big flat panels could be a problem for other drivers on a bright, sunny day ?

Im going as fast as I can to get the capping finished (literally just sat down with a beer). I'm hoping to have it covered in epoxy primer this weekend. jockaneezer yes it is far too bright, you want to try starring at it drilling holes in todays weather ? should have put my welding helmet back on ?

What do you use as an etch primer on ally with epoxy paint ?
