Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

What a beautiful city Salamanca is ....some stunning architecture and it's spotlessly clean despite finding a bin being like mission impossible. Very touristy but quiet probably due to time of year ...There's a free aire here too but a little out of the way for visiting the city so I found a car park next to the river and park and only 10 minutes walk from the historic centre

A good fleece, longjohns and wooly socks are cheaper, it's either that ora bedmate - overall the longjohns and wooly socks could be cheaper!:cold:
Still need it sorted. I plan to keep this van a while as its my full time home so I want everything fixed and working as it should. I've got from now till end of February I reckon to get it all ship shape as hopefully be working and living in it from March to October then back to Portugal to find some land

The trouble is if you spend too long here, you start getting soft, anything under 23c and you think its winter. Bob.

Aye this is true but it was 8° when I was out with dogs at 8am for a pee
And only just getting light

Segovia looks to be an interesting place too, not that far away (y)
Yeah Segovia is on my list after Avila, there's an aquaduct at Avila and a stunning palace in Segovia I want to see.
Then villadolid after that.

Not going to Madrid as it looks too big for me

You've decided on Portugal then?

You've decided on Portugal then?
I think so ..... I much preferred the east side ..people seem more content with their lot ...And more friendly.
I like the coja area and the surrounding.....Lots of ex pats of all different nationalities there , there's a community vibe and feel to it.

What Sundowners have done with the bit land they have is what I think I'd like to do.
I can't move over there permanently at he minute as I think finding work might be hard but if I can get a bit land and start doing things on it over winter months and working in UK summer months for a couple of years till I get to know the area and people in Portugal learn a bit of the language etc...Then maybe I can find work there in a few years time .

I'll see how the campsite work goes if I can find a job etc for next summer and see what land comes up meantime.

It's a plan of sorts....But I think it would be a nice base and an easier more relaxed way of life.

Hopefully just the fan if it's the PCB controlling it I think they are about £300.

The aquaduct is at Segovia, Avila is famous for the city wall.

Hi Tam
hope you get your boiler looked at somewhere down there, or the weather improves 8 degrees at night is colder than it is here back home!
When Lenny suggested that a new Fan PCB was £300, I like you was shocked to say the least.
I did some digging around spare parts/prices from the likes of LeisureShop Direct thinking if a new fan PCB is £300 how much is a complete new boiler? The answer was that a new Combi 6E boiler is £1675.00 !!! The smaller 4E was £1395.00 !!!Every bloody part even sensor leads are above £70
What a rip off, domestic boiler parts are much cheaper, but everything to do with caravans or MH's then I guess you like me would have to think of a sensible price then double it at least.
Anyhow here is what I have found for the fan, and the PCB that Lenny mentioned
The Fan Motor
DC AIR CIRCULATION MOTOR FOR TRUMA COMBI BOILER is £121.88
Fan Part Number: EAN-13 : 4052816007519
Printed Circuit board for Combi 6 boiler
EAN-13 : 4052816008462 is £306.03

The fan is a squirrel cage affair, looks like it could hold a fair bit of fluff if not serviced recently, so access with a powerful vacuum cleaner might be the first thing to do if you can get to it.

Good luck, hope the dogs will keep you warm at night, thats what the Eskimos do:D(y)

We met a lovely married couple of wardens last week down at the Camping In The Forest Setthorns campsite in The New Forest, and they are "Fun Members also"
They seemed to have a great work balance as they work as wardens here in The UK summer months then take their MH down to Portugal every October through to March.
We talked about Portugal for quite a while (They dont like Mickeys Place) which surprised me as I had read some glowing references, but they say there are much better quitter places to hold up for the winter in Portugal.
Camping in the Forest has forest style campsites up & down the country and are affiliated to The CCC apparently.
It might be worth getting in touch with their HR dept and see if there are any positions available for next year? Non electric pitches mostly, no toilets or shower blocks to clean, and cheap site fees, thats my excuse for not wilding in Dorset/Hampshire
Just a thought.

There are two fans: one to circulate the warm air through the van which, if blocked or faulty in some way, would prevent heat coming out of the various vents and could possibly cause an over-heat shut-down. The other, arguably more important, fan is one that blows combustion air into the heating unit. If that fails, or is partially blocked, the heater will shut-down immediately and before it has time to warm up.

I think he said works OK on hot water so that one must be OK.

Hot water works perfect always has done , with the heating it heats up and the fan runs slow till it reaches temperature then once it starts speeding up there's a click the red light flashes and it runs slow again.

I was wondering if it could be something as simple as a faulty room temp sender but might be wishful thinking.

The fan seems free enough and no noise coming from it so unsure

But electrics I'm not good with that's why I need it looked at but no idea where
I wish I'd went in to camperserve when I was in Algarve

If the red light comes on I think it`s indicated a fault on the boiler, I don`t think a faulty room stat would do that.
What model boiler is it ?

Yeah the books say a red light can be a gas fault an electrical fault etc etc so not much help

Its the 6002 gas only heating but has or electric hot water.

Tam, i see that Lyndon Top campsite at Rutland Water is looking for wardens for next year. It's a lovely spot amd might suit you?

Yeah I've found a few advertising already which I wasn't expecting. I'm obviously still in Spain so filling in applications and attending interviews I can't do till I'm back in UK. I hadn't expected them to be advertising so early as its a long time till March..

Doesn't stop you giving them a call.

6002 is gas only both water & heating.
Try disconnecting the room sensor, it should run at full chat then. If I'm wrong try shorting the wires.

Both of our warden jobs we've had interviews over Skype, emailed first then arranged time to sit and have a chat in front of the laptop. Its well known to the sites that wardens scatter far and wide as soon as the season ends.

Mine is definately gas heating but gas or 240v electric hot water so maybe not the 6002 although that number rings a bell
Maybe 3002
Anyway water works great on either just the heating that's wonky and it worked better before it's definately got worse

You need to check into a campsite and ask to use their printer :rofl::rofl:
