Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Was in albufaira a month ago and there was talk among the locals that France and Portugal are in some sort of agreement for the French to buy in portugal at some sort of discount.
They must be trying to dilute the English as every second person I met there last year was English

My understanding if French buy the pay no income tax for 10 years but I am sure someone knows if that is true but could explain the huge number buying and the hike in house prices in Portugal or at least the Algarve area

As far as lawyers are concerned for overseas property transactions I have always recommended instructing a UK firm with associate offices in the local country.

That way the UK office is responsible for the local office, and their UK Professional Indemnity Insurance protects one for any failing. Also one has recourse to their professional complaints procedure.

Man its roasting here now ...just had a walk along the other direction of beach and loads of apartments for sale and for rent along there. Quite a few lookey lookey men selling trainers and handbags too .

[QUOTE="Northernraider,
Then I can sell Toby buy a smaller camper and a Harley and enjoy life in a sunnier climate[/QUOTE]

A Harley? !!! I thought you had better taste Tam, you'd get a smoother and more comfortable ride on a tractor and you could always bling it up a bit lol:LOL:

I tried a Harley once , but decided on this instead , much smoother ride :)

We were around Benicassim area in February & March it was colder than the UK.
Unusual..but then again it was better in Benicassim at Easter towns much further south..Its luck of the draw..They grow oranges all around the are so winters cant be that bad..BUSBY:D2,

Well if probably but one of these again to be honest as they are more reliable than a Harley

And a lot cheaper

Only the one at 65000 is for sale ...the other 2 are for holiday season rental :(

The one at 65000 is a tiny studio apartment

The problem as I see it is your desire to be on or close to the beach, coz everything is going to be expensive, I don't know any ways around that
I recently saw "parcelas" of land, really big plots (small fields),for sale, very reasonably priced, it's supposed to be agricultural land.
People had bought and parked Moho 's, caravans,"Park homes", anything classed "mobile", apparently no planning consent required.
Some of them were really lovely.
Now the big BUT- I don't suppose you can get them in the sort of area you like.(n)

If I were looking for a plot I'd look for one with a 'ruin' on, preferably with a well.

If no well often above ground swimming pools with a cover are used and water delivered by tanker

Aye that was a thought also
I know he's in Portugal but if you have a private conversation, he might give you some advice about perhaps some of the trip hazards or even some of the negatives he wouldn't say in public ;)...
I think he had an apartment as a base for awhile which he infrequently visited...

However, being in solitary splendour on a secluded patch of grass a few K's away from urbanization isn't going to help with socializing .

my mate moved permanently to Portugal 12 years ago, he was retired when he moved there. His son and family joined him a couple of years ago, he still owns a business in UK, and pays no income tax in either country for ten years, apparently.

We moved out of caves years ago think you are looking backward lol

Apartment on the coast , loads o chicks about sounds better to me

How many euros an hour do you charge Ian..?

Depends on what I’m doing tam,,,

But if I had a bit of land and/or an old property in Spain or Portugal, I would try to get work there as well, I reckon I could easily live on 100 euros a day! And live cheaply !

I like the first one!!

He might not be so lonely after someone posts his place on Park4nite(y):D
