Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Well gus-lopez is a lawyer and lives in Spain, so might be your best source.
Oh no he isn't Geoff.:D

I never knew Richard was a lawyer ....
Neither did he.

Tam anything North of Benidorm on the coast is cold, wet and dead in the Winter....except Barcelona (expensive though)...
I told him it wasn't good. .snows in Perpignan which is only up the road.
might be possible but can't speak a word of Portuguese
Obragado= Thank you. There's your first.:LOL:

My understanding if French buy the pay no income tax for 10 years but I am sure someone knows if that is true but could explain the huge number buying and the hike in house prices in Portugal or at least the Algarve area
Yes same for Uk by all accounts.

A Harley? !!! I thought you had better taste Tam, you'd get a smoother and more comfortable ride on a tractor and you could always bling it up a bit lol:LOL:
Well if probably but one of these again to be honest as they are more reliable than a Harley

And a lot cheaper View attachment 301814[/QUOTE]

Is that the Suzuki? Sure that was what boy next door had.

Anyhoooo that's another dream dashed as I went and got my haircut and then I went to the estate agents where I had seen the properties ...this was the 3 I had seen

Only the one at 65000 is for sale ...the other 2 are for holiday season rental :(

The one at 65000 is a tiny studio apartment
I saw the 65k studio , on the site. hasn't even a separate bedroom. :eek:That's why the reference numbers didn't tie up with the sales side.(y)

100 euros a day isn't living cheaply lol that's 700 a week lol

Or do you mean earning 100 euros a day? ....and living cheaply.

I mean living on my own land, or doing up an old place, over a period of time,,, and trying to get work in Spain/ Portugal for the money!
Or even coming back here for the summers, say from April to aug/ sept and then go back!

they (?) say it is very hard to get a job in Portugal, but my mate says you try and get hold of a plumber or electrician!

At least I got my hair cut and look young and incredibly handsome again :p View attachment 301826
Yes,we’ll maybe.............but why have you got chocolate buttons in you ear lobes?:D

On buying property:
Never bought in Spain so know nothing.
Bought in France in 2000,sold in 3013,very straightforward business with an apparently reliable legal system of conveyancing.
Bought in Portugal in 2011 in Lagos. Fairly long winded, fairly useless lawyers, didn’t advise properly about condominium legalities.
Prices here now sky high as lots of French and Scandinavians buying,as well as the usual brits and Irish.
Go a few miles inland and get much better value for money.
The language...............in my view impossible!!! Don’t be misled into thinking it’s like Spanish, coz it isn’t! The locals will help if you show an interest and the best way is to be thrown in at the deep end. Necessity is the mother of invention.
Do your research,online and books.
Make sure you have good, clear title as they love to fudge.
Good luck!

I think he had an apartment as a base for awhile which he infrequently visited...

You are nearly correct Sir... I have (not 'had') a fully furnished and equipped, two bed roomed, first floor apartment, 15 kms from QMJ.

It is empty... I don't use it myself... I am not a bricks and mortar sort of person... ;)

Seems you could have a potential buyer if you wanted one(y)

Gawd I just can't escape the French

So I found this spot yesterday in roses , I'm basically reversed up a short dead end straight that backs straight on to the beach esplanade.
The apartments on my right are empty as is the villa on my left but the appartments in front of the villa on the left are being renovated so there's a few workmen with cars and vans etc so really only room for the one motor home to park here and overall I'm causing no harm where I am and the workmen etc have all been friendly and saying hola buenas etc when I see them.

So I had just walked along to the China bazaar for a phone cover and as I turned back in to the street there's a French motorhome that's driven in to the wee street and is trying to squeeze itself in between myself and the entry gate to the appartments where there's a no parking sign. Obviously it doesn't fit so here's Mr and Mrs French chapping on my door.
"Do you speak French "

Me ...no

"We want to park can you move back 1 metre "
Me ...no because then my van will be in full view of everyone walking along the esplanade and won't be as discrete as I am now.

" but we can't fit "

Me ...then I'm afraid you will have to go somewhere else ...there isn't really room here for 2 motorhomes

" it's ok we will fit"

Proceeds to squash in so are now an inch from my front bumper and overhanging the gate with the no entry sign on it.

Honestly this is how some off site parking spots get complaints from neighbours etc .

Now the workmen can't turn their vans without reversing on to a main road.

One semi discrete motor home is now 2 nowhere near discrete motorhomes blocking up a street :(

Incidentally it wouldn't matter a hoot what nationality they were But really Why is it always the French that are happy to park so blooming close even if it isn't practical or pleasant for anyone.

I only plan to stay here one more night but I can honestly see the police being called now and us both getting moved.

Moving from here tomorrow free aire at L escala first , pick up some lpg as one bottle ran out overnight ( why is it always overnight so your fridge and such are off when you wake up ) then stop at L estartit I think

We like L estartit, the beach is super, and the town has lots of beach side eateries. It was our first intro to Spain when we went there with our friends .

Yes a beautiful beach I've just arrived there now ....parking right on the beach.

Shame the sun is hiding

Moved from roses to here with a quick stop of in escala on route.
Lovely beach and nice wee town , not really much to take pics of. I missed all these towns previously as it was too cold in January for around here bit it's nice just now not too hot a nice breeze etc.
I plan to stay here a few days and just chill, might even get some sunbathing one day

My first ever holiday abroad was at L’Estartit with a bunch of mates.
We stayed at a cheap hotel out in the boondocks that was a kind of early 18/30 club.

Returned there in the MoHo a couple of years ago and stayed on a site that turned out to be based on the same hotel from about 50 years before.

Richard.

That will be no good back in Uk it’s left hand drive. :D

I’m just getting images in my head
